A Message from the President
As I sit down to write this message I am still wondering where the first three quarters of 2024 have gone! The OSA hosted it’s annual general meeting in Peterborough This year we had it in conjunction with the Ontario Angus Association. Both associations agreed it was fun working together and we are looking into continuing this going forward. Thanks to everyone that donated and purchased items in our fundraising auction at the AGM, we are very thankful for your continued support. At the AGM we held elections for 2, 3 year board positions I would like to thank those that put their names forward for election. Scott Dykstra and Reed Crawford were re-elected to the board to serve for 3 years. We welcomed Mike Thomas to the board as the ECOSA rep and Dwayne Horst as the South West Region rep It has been great working with both of them on the various committees so far Following the AGM the board met and brainstormed a couple things to work on in 2024 The areas of focus we decided to work on include: marketing, constitution review and a member survey. I hope you received our member survey a couple weeks ago. We hope you will take the time to complete it we would appreciate your feedback
At the AGM we launched our new sale barn signage (see it in the board photo) We have worked to get them up in sales barns across the province, if the sale barn you use needs one please let us know. The marketing committee is also working on finding commercial producers that utilize Simmental genetics that might be interested in giving a testimonial for us to use in ads If you know of someone that might be a good fit please let us know I enjoyed taking in some of the World Simmental Congress events in Olds and visiting with many Ontario members there. Congratulations to those the participated in the sale and took in the events. I am looking forward to seeing everyone out on the fall sale run in the coming couple months
