SAVE THOUSANDS ON YOUR ENERGY BILLS

ENVIRONMENTAL ROOFING SERVICES... HELPING PROVIDE ALL OF THE ENERGY YOUR PROPERTY NEEDS Environmental Roofing Services are a successful local business based in Leigh, set up by Clive Jones a Worsley resident. The team at ERS have over 50 years experience in roofing and renewables. Traditionally we have served the commercial industry and we continue to do so, working with companies such as Boohoo.com, Tangerine, Saica Packaging and Glen Dimplex Home Appliances. There is more and more coverage about the savings and technology associated with renewable energy for our homes and the interest is growing, so we would like to offer our local area the opportunity to save up to £1000, on installation of the system, if fitted before 31st November 2019. Not only can we save you money on the installation but have you looked at the savings that can be made on your electricity bill? Many of us swap and change from time to time, some (in fact research shows 15%) of us don’t even check our electricity bills. So, what if you could save money every year instead of having to spend on electricity? With a 25 year guarantee, on the savings you make you will have paid back the cost in 4.5 years! We have fitted our renewable energy systems in a number of homes in Salford and the surrounding area, including Worsley, Roe Green and Mosley Common. Our customers also love the Social Energy app we set up for them so they can monitor their savings all year round!

QUICK INSTALLATION

What our clients say... This summer, in July 2019, we installed a 4KW Solar System to a house in Mosley Common. Laura, the client, gave us wonderful feedback. “We have been delighted with the service we received from start to finish with Environmental Roofing Services. The salesman and installation team were informative, helpful and polite. It has been a pleasure doing business with this company, I would highly recommend them."

Miners Pension Compensation We are successfully claiming compensation for former miners who transferred OUT of the Mineworkers Pension Scheme. Many miners were advised to transfer out of their British Coal Pension Scheme to a private scheme which paid considerably less! This was bad advice and many retired miners or their widows have lost out!

Example 1 - £48,000

Example 2 - £97,000

Mr K. a miner from TYLDSEY was made redundant from BICKERSHAW in the 1980’s. He was advised by independent financial advisors SHARMAN ASSOCIATES to transfer £4,493 from his mineworkers pension to PHOENIX LIFE. He was promised a better return which wasn’t true. Even though the IFA is no longer in business we obtained a settlement of £48,000.

Mr B. from SUTTON was made redundant from BOLD in 1985. On the advice of an agent of PRUDENTIAL he transferred £6,300 of his miners pension to them. He lost out as a result, we proved this and secured compensation of £97,956.

Example 3 - £48,000

Example 4 - £131,000

Mr G. a miner from ST HELENS worked at SUTTON MANOR. He was advised by independent financial advisors CARRINGTONS to transfer his miners pension to STANDARD LIFE. We won compensation of £48,000 even though the financial advisors were no longer in business.

Mr H. a miner from BOOTHSTOWN worked at BICKERSHAW. In 1990 he was approached by a sales agent of SCOTTISH AMICABLE to transfer £19,000 from his miners pension to them. He was promised a better return which wasn’t true, he received compensation of £131,391.

WINS AWARD AT THE HOUSE OF LORDS THE NAZ

BANGLADESHI RESTUARANT OF THE YEAR!

The Naz in Monton has won the the prestigious award of “North West Bangladeshi Restaurant of the Year” at the National Curry Awards (NCA) held in September 2019 in the House of Lords. It is a fantastic achievement having also been voted “Best Bangladeshi Restaurant” at the Asian Restaurant Awards in 2018. The National Curry Awards (NCA) recognise outstanding chefs and successful restaurants and food businesses across the UK. The inaugural ceremony took place on Monday 2nd September and was attended by politicians and celebrities, along with staff and restaurant owners from establishments across the country, who gathered in London to hear the winners announced. "The Asian catering industry is worth an estimated £5billion to the UK economy, but in recent years has witnessed a worrying decline, largely attributed to a shortage of skilled workers and lack of investment in training", state the Awards' organisers. "The NCA was launched to address these concerns and aims to positively promote the industry by highlighting the sector's success stories and its wider contribution to UK culture."

The Monton restaurant has achieved a 4.2 star rating out of 5 on Google. Serving authentic Indian and Bangladeshi traditional dishes plus specialities like ‘Taste of Shundorbon; chicken or lamb tikka strips cooked with onions, peppers, garlic, chillies and garam masala, and ’Bhindi Ghosht’; lamb cooked with fresh okra, onions, tomatoes, garlic and a blend of chef's spices, garnished with fresh coriander. “These curry heroes are making a positive impact in their local communities and showcasing their success will hopefully inspire a new generation to join the industry, securing its future for curry lovers across the UK for many more years to come", state the Awards' organisers. Ready for Autumn! After the long summer holiday pupils are back at school and working towards their goals. At First Class Learning Swinton, the summer months saw classrooms created with bright new furniture in readiness for the autumn term with after school and weekend tuition sessions. Our students are aiming high - whether they need to be a little more stretched or require extra support. With Harriet's experience as a qualified teacher, she ensures that a comfortable learning environment is created whereby each individual child can thrive. Through her multi sensory approach to teaching in both Maths and English, every child will find themselves fully immersed in their learning shown by fantastic progress.

Each child is individually assessed to establish their strengths and weaknesses in both Maths and English and a bespoke programme is created utilising a series of worksheets chosen from a bank of over 22,000! Regardless of age or year group this unique system targets exactly the right starting point... no ifs, no buts and pupils excel by starting within their own comfort zone and seeing rapid progress from Day 1. Self confidence grows as children start to shine. Those who see school as 'a walk in the park' immerse themselves in greater complexities and rise to the challenge, enjoying the journey.

BOOTHSTOWN TRAFFIC CONGESTION:

UNDER THREAT OF MORE PRESSURE by Helen Dibble, Leigh Road Committee

Between 6.30 and 9.00am every weekday, hundreds of cars sit on Leigh Road in Boothstown, jerking forward just inches at a time.

Peel Holdings’ plans also obliterate an important part of Boothstown. The green belt land, reportedly gifted to the people by the Duke of Bridgewater, is a haven for foxes, deer, bats, rabbits and birdlife and used by people of all ages.

If you’re one of the many who endure the A572 on your commute, you’ll know the frustration of this short but significant stretch of tarmac. Taking around 20 minutes to move a mile during peak hours, over 200 cars can stand still on Leigh Road blasting carbon into homes and gardens.

The verdict of a petition to protect green belt land, taken to parliament by Barbara Keeley MP, is due to be announced. Meanwhile, it’s vital to add our voices to the cause.

Now imagine 600 more cars joining your journey every day. Peel Holdings threatens to add to the gridlock with the addition of 300 luxury houses adjacent to the RHS Bridgewater site. With each home owning two cars, prepare for a busier, more polluted rush hour.

SAY NO TO MORE HOUSES ON LEIGH ROAD: ● Write to Andy Burnham: the.mayor@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk ● Use the land - this is critical to demonstrating the importance of the site. ● Learn more at www.leighroadhouses.co.uk

Dream Doors provide customers a unique alternative to kitchen replacement. While we do offer complete kitchen installations, we’ve made our name through kitchen makeovers, in many cases offering our customers significant savings over other kitchen manufacturers and suppliers. We achieve this by working with each customer individually to build a kitchen that exactly meets their needs. A common misconception is that lower prices mean a cheaper alternative, whereas the products we supply are often vastly superior to our competitors. We achieve this by where possible, retaining existing structures, in some cases only suppling the doors, in others we replace appliances, worktops and floors to achieve the desired finish. In each case we work closely with our customers to find the right balance.

save you as much as 50% off a full kitchen replacement, installed in as little as two days. “You don’t build a conservatory by first knocking down the house”, why should it be any different with a new kitchen?

New Manchester showroom opening soon! Our doors and worktops are made to measure, appliances and sinks come from top name suppliers, combine these and you’ve got the recipe for a kitchen makeover that could

OUR SUMMER ROUNDUP! by Geoff Hamilton, Macmillan Cancer Support Volunteer

$#--+/.

We had a little help from inedible knitted volunteers this year who looked after our carrots in their bed. If you plant carrots, don’t forget that, even in a raised bed, a slight breeze can lift ‘carrot fly’ into your crop, causing disaster. If your crop is still in the ground, you shouldn’t have any problems this year but, don’t forget to turn your bed over well so that any eggs left by the fly can be picked up by birds or give the bed several rakings to expose eggs to the cold. +*'+*.!"!.&#((+/.

These are usually harvested by September but if you haven’t already lifted them, this is what they look like when they are ready for cropping. We had spectacular results with our onion crop but the weather has not been dry enough to cure them in the open so we have placed

them on racks in a dry shed. After lifting, the beds have been thoroughly weeded and raked and we plan to spread chicken pellets later in the year. Some of our neighbours have had poor crops after spreading FYM so we are avoiding its use. +0-!.0))%-!$-+,.

We had a good crop of ‘Turks Hat’ courgettes thanks to the warm weather and lots of water. They are delicious sliced, fried in butter and served with lemon juice. If you grow them they are better taken fairly small whilst they are still tender. ‘Cucamelons’ - a cross between cucumber and melon. Children like to pick and eat as if they were sweets. Pick when they are the size of small grapes and are still firm. Now in the polytunnel, we hope they will last late into the year with its warmer atmosphere.
