GUIDELINES FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY & ENJOYMENT GENERAL GUIDELINES CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT: RV & tent sites: Check-in 1 p.m.; check-out 12 noon. 1. Please do not park on grass!

Cabins: Check-in 3 p.m.; check-out 11 a.m.

2. Limit two vehicles per site. Motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and pop-ups are considered SMOKING vehicles.

Smoking is NOT allowed inside any cabin or building.

3. Any additional vehicles must display a car pass and be parked in the designated overflow area.

SAFETY GUIDE

1. Use designated fire pits only.

2. Keep anything combustible at least 10 feet away from the fire pit.

3. Clear the site of leaves or other debris that may catch fire.

4. Never start a fire with any flammable liquids such as gasoline or lighter fluid. Use crumpled paper or store-bought firewood covered with small sticks for burning.

5. Keep flammable items at least 10 feet away from the fire. This includes aerosol cans and pressurized containers.

6. Keep water or a fire extinguisher and a shovel, if you have one, nearby in case the fire gets out of hand.

7. Do not light fires on windy days or nights. Put the fire out at the first sign of increased winds.

8. Obey any local burn bans.

9. After lighting the fire, do not discard the match until it is cold. Douse with water to be sure.

10. Use only the amount of wood necessary to keep the fire burning under control.

11. Stack extra firewood upwind, away from the fire.

12. While the fire is burning, be sure there is a responsible adult attending the fire at all times.

13. Keep children and pets away from the fire pit and never leave it unattended, even after the flames are out, as there is still a chance of a child or pet getting burned.

14. Never allow hot dog or marshmallow roasting without adult supervision, and be sure there is plenty of space between campers while roasting.

1. Drown the fire with water. Make sure all embers, sticks, and logs are wet.

2. Stir the remains, add more water, and stir again. Be sure all burned materials have been put out and cooled. Feel above the fire with the back of your hand to make sure it is out cold.

3. Before you leave the fire pit, be sure all embers, sticks and logs are completely extinguished. Never go to bed and allow the fire to burn itself out.

4. Never remove any ashes from the fire pit.

5. Never leave children or pets unattended near a fire pit even if you believe the fire is out cold.

If, within one hour after check-in at any KOA Campground, you are not completely satisfied with the service or facility and wish to leave, your registration fee will be gladly refunded.

CHECK OUT OUR TOP 4 BEACHES! VIRGINIA BEACH OCEANFRONT: This world-famous beach and three mile oceanfront boardwalk feature entertainment all summer long.

The boardwalk is great for biking, roller-blading, running, or just strolling. Pets are allowed on the public sand beaches from Labor Day to Memorial Day. From KOA, turn right onto General Booth Blvd. and go 2.5 miles to Oceanfront. Park on the street or in parking lots/garages. Or go the easy way--ride the Wave Beach Trolley right from KOA between Memorial Day & Labor Day. Even better, rent a Beach Bike from Virginia Beach KOA and take the bike path right down to the beach/boardwalk!

Virginia Beach United Methodist Church SANDBRIDGE BEACH: This quaint, quieter seaside town is a great place to unwind and relax, and features five miles of sand dunes and sea oats.

From KOA, turn left onto General Booth Blvd., go three miles south, turn left onto Princess Anne, stay straight onto Sandbridge Road to end, follow signs to municipal parking lot ($). The nearby marshes and open waters of Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park make for great kayaking, hiking, and fishing.

CROATAN BEACH: The locals, especially surfers, love Croatan Beach, which is three quarters of a mile long. It has two designated surfing areas, one at the north beginning at Rudee Inlet and one at the south at Camp Pendleton. From KOA, turn right onto General Booth Blvd. and go 1.5 miles.

Just after Virginia Aquarium, turn right onto Croatan Avenue, then right onto Vanderbilt Avenue to the municipal parking lot ($).

CHESAPEAKE BAY BEACH: Gentler waves, better seashell collecting and great views greet visitors to Chesapeake Bay Beach, where they build sand castles, swim, play volleyball and much more. From KOA, turn right onto General Booth Blvd. Follow this road (it will change names several times), turn left as it becomes Shore Drive. Park at First Landing Visitor Center ($) (2500 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach), or drive farther and find street or lot parking anywhere around Lynnhaven Pier.

That’s what Virginia Beach locals affectionately call the Navy’s F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets that fly overhead. If you’re lucky, you’ll see them while you’re here!

The F/A-18s are the world’s most advanced highperformance strike fighters. In Virginia Beach, they fly out of Naval Air Station Oceana, a U.S. Navy Master Jet Base, located west of KOA on Oceana Blvd. NAS Oceana is home to nearly 20 fighter/ attack squadrons.
