As an inspirational leader, I am devoted to mentoring those around me and fostering a feeling of empowerment in everyone I know. My history and experiences have provided the tools necessary to inspire and motivate my friends and family to feel what it means to receive hope, to survive throughout life, and to never giving up to what is right. Since I was eight years old, I've been responsible for many of the household chores. As the oldest sister in my family, sticking together and cooperating with one another is something I really hold dear to me. To that measure, when I entered middle school, I would sometimes convince my two male siblings to follow me to my little sister's school to pick her up. Back when my grandma was alive, she would always tell us to stick together, that's what I told my siblings, they took my word for it, and trailed behind me following me to the destination, however it wasn't that long of a journey just a few blocks away from our school. It really didn't matter about the location; as a leader, sticking together and not leaving anyone behind is something that I do best, if that is not leading then who am I.

I have always admired leaders that dedicate their lives to making positive changes in our world. Dr. Martin Luther King with his "I have a dream" speech and Harriet Tubman, who was a slave used her last bit of energy to help other to freedom, through my eyes these people were true heroes. A young person should strive to support their local community for various reasons. Engaging in community service provides people with the opportunity to become active members of their community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large. Community service and volunteerism enables one to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those who need it most.

Supporting the community is a way to give back, it's a learning experience, it strengthens the community, promotes personal growth and self–esteem, it brings people together, it makes you feel good, it's an investment to the area you work and live and most importantly it allows you to make a difference.

I have been able to develop real–world skills that has helped me to succeed both in school and at home. I have learned leadership, problem solving, time management, communication skills and how to work with others. I can see firsthand that the work I have done has made a real impact in the community.

I pulled weeds, planted flowers, laid mulch, picked up trash and painted. This was important to me because it allowed me to give back to the area I both live and attend school. I have baked and distributed cookies to families at the Ronald Me Donald House. I have also prepared snack packs for families at the Ronald Me Donald House– prepared bags with pudding cups cheese crackers, chips, granola bars and muffins. These were provided to families so that they could have access to a snack while at the hospital with their child. I have sort/packed food at the Mid–Ohio Food Bank, volunteered as a community meal server and donate blood regularly. I also assisted with coordinating the blood drive at my
