“Whatever will be, will be” These five words have been the cause of so many unfulfilled lives. As simple as that statement sounds, it has been the sole reason why many individuals never push for the extra. It bears stressing that this particular statement has made so many songs never to hit the studios, caused many business plans never to come to life, and many employees to remain employees for life. The reality is, whatever will be, may never be. Let’s look at basic principles here: for example, if whatever will be, will be, then why did you ever have to make the effort to go to school; there’s absolutely no way the school and the teachers will come to you to teach; you’d have to make an effort to go to school, even if you were meant to attend the school. Another example goes like this: if whatever will be will be, why did you have to make an effort to pick your food from the kitchen, even though that dish is meant for you. You see, if you’re meant to go to school, it’s up to you to dress up and go to school to learn. If the food in the kitchen is meant for you, you’d still have to make an effort to go and take it.

Can you see why that if it’s meant to be, it’s really up to you? Everyone is born with an assignment; some people along the line discover that they are born with the solution to an economic or social problem.

Achievers and Go-Getters have no special gift or talent in them; all they possess is just that extra poise for drive and results. Every successful person knows this, and this isn’t a situation where luck, fate or karma comes to play, it’s rather a position where you as the individual is the main determining factor in your circumstance, not the case that happens by chance. No! The type where you create in your life what you want to see, have, and be.

3 Ds’ of achieving anything • Desire • Decision • Determination 1. Desire: Why would you want to settle for a drop of water when you can have the ocean? Many underachieving individuals today think it’s a crime or sin

2. Decision: You have to decide on your desires right away, else, you’ll be a dreamer. What decisions are you making in your life today? Are you trying to give up on a bad habit? If you only desire to stop, I’m afraid to tell you that, you won’t stop. You might succeed to stay for a day or two, or you might even go as far as four days, but you’ll eventually return to the habit because you have not made a concrete decision yet. Decision makers are action takers, and action takers are successful people. Make a decision today to transform your life and take action on it immediately. One year from now, you’d be glad you did.

to desire a bigger house, an expensive car, travel for vacation, throw a party every weekend, or to have a better life in general. The beginning point of every great life or great achievement is desire.

If there’s no desire, then it doesn’t matter what is before you, you won’t move a muscle. You’d be left to think that everything around you is all just there, but life itself is expanding, exploring, and it never ends. Life evolves every second. Life demands newness and freshness. Life requires innovation. You’d be working in contrast to life demands when you don’t have a desire for a better experience, a better society, a better economy, and a better school. You’d see that those who do not desire anything new or better always struggle in life, and they end up impecunious, melancholic, despondent, and depressed. For you to live life to its fullest, you must crave and first have a burning desire – that’s where it all starts from.

3. Determination: Sometimes when you make decisions, you’d find out that there are obstacles along the deciding path, which tends to throw you off balance.

Nonetheless, no! do not succumb. You have to remain determined by your decision. Life will throw jabs at you, but do not cringe at such. There’s a saying that goes like this, “tough times do not last, but tough people do.” Only determined people make it to the finish line. Determination will push you beyond your limits, and the beautiful thing is when you cross your thresholds, that new limit becomes your new starting line. Determination fuels your desire for a better life.

In conclusion, don’t just let yourself be tossed around by every wind of adversity.

Do not wait for good things to come to you or happen to you. Rather make good things happen to your life by your actions and decisions. Have a desire today, decide to go for that desire, and then be determined to achieve your desire because if it’s meant to be, it’s up to me.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re downloading your favourite movies, music, the latest training video or a new book into your Kindle, there’s always the opportunity to download something.

We’re surrounded by messaging constantly and the feeling of overwhelm can sometimes lead us to want to scream with our hands over our ears, shaking our heads and wanting to run as far away from civilisation as possible.

Then there’s the rules that have defined our very existence. In schools, colleges, universities, at home as children, and even now as adults we still have rules in our homes. Then there’s the rules at work, on the roads, government imposed rules also known as laws.

For those of us who run businesses there’s also the rules on how to run that, from the accounts, the hiring and firing and even our branding and social media campaigns.

And after all these rules and downloads, we close or eyes at night hoping for a restful sleep and BOOM! There’s that never ending download of jobs to do, ideas for summer holidays, the next product launch, marketing campaign, surprise outing for the family because family time is needed, before you even get into the next level of investment in yourself and the business expansion.

And then the downloads of gratitude flood your brain bringing a smile to your face, because at least you get to think of all these things flooding your mind.

You get to be grateful for the gratitude that floods your mind and body, feeling those exciting ‘ bubble funnels’ which run throughout your body.

And finally you sleep.

Peacefully.

With a smile on your face, Warmth in your heart, And contentment in your soul, Because life is truly wonderful even with all these distractions.

You get to lead a life you love, you get to believe anything is truly possible, because it is, and everything you’ve ever dreamed of is coming to fruition.

And then sleep takes you.

Your mind rests, for now.

And then the subconscious mind takes over and your dreams take you in this wild journey to other worlds and levels of your own life.

And then the whole process of downloading ideas and a to do list starts all over again, because that’s simply another way to live your dream life, getting truly present to your own downloads rather than the downloads of everyone else.

You sit bolt upright, eyes not even really open, you grab your journal and pen and scribble away as if your life depended on it.

You grab your phone deliver the message that is coming through to your audience on social media, because that’s one of the rules right?

Share authentically what comes up for you when it comes up for you and before you know it your subconscious mind is not following rules made in the conscious world and you are a slave to the system... ...or are you?

Or are you so in tune with the highest levels of downloads and surrendering to the Universe and process of delivering your truth to the world, because without your truth what is there to speak?

Who are we if we are not truthful?

Not just to others, but to ourselves?

They say the truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off; but what is there to be pissed off about when you’ve discovered an element of self that needs looking at, perhaps a deep healing, maybe just an acknowledgment, either way, the truth is bound to come out one day, so why not write a book about your truth?

Then your mind quietens and you relax back into sleep, whilst your subconscious deals with that latest download, one you have been purculating for some time, like a great coffee.

Then the alarm fills your mind, the aroma of the morning coffee fills your nostrils and it’s game on time.

Download, process, perculate, rest, implement and repeat.

Welcome to the cycle of living the dream, broken down into a simple set of rules of which we can choose to live by or simply choose our own rules... Either way rules are rules, whether we call them our non negotiables, laws, processes, methods or modelling. We are all conditioned and programmed, it’s just a matter of choosing who’s got the remote control and the access to the download button.

Whoever it is remember, live to laugh and laugh to live because life is to be enjoyed and lived to the fullest!

Finding My Worth In The

Hi, everyone. My name is Isabel and I am a recovering struggle-holic, Yes, I have been addicted to struggle for quite a while now. It may sound strange, but I can assure you that it truly is a “thing”.

Struggle-holism is an emotional addiction. In my case, I was addicted to struggling to receive acknowledgement, to be seen, and to even be admired for how hard I work, for what I put myself through to achieve my goals.

Struggle earned me respect. Struggle gave me a story to share with the world. Struggling through life gave me a purpose.

But how, you might ask, did I fall so far into the trap of an addiction like struggle-holism?

I was born and raised in Germany. I had a fabulous childhood.

Yet there was this one significant event I remember that played a key role in my journey toward addiction. It was a normal day in kindergarten and, as usual, we had to 8 | OneTribeMagazine.com

take a nap after lunch. The problem was I wasn’t tired, but I had always followed the rules so I tried hard to fall asleep. I squeezed my eyes shut and pretended I was asleep. I was even proud of myself, believing that I had done a great job pretending. At the end of nap time every single child received a smiley sticker for a job well done – except for me. I was the only one who received a note to my mom letting her know that I didn’t take a nap. Silly, I know, but the disappointment of not being acknowledged for my efforts left deep scars in my 5-year-old self, as it would any other 5 year old.

I picked up my first real “bottle of struggle” in high school when we were told that we had to work hard if we ever wanted to accomplish anything in life. And subconsciously I was reminded of my disappointment

when I was a 5-year-old little girl, so I knew I had to work harder than ever before. I struggled quite a bit, but I thought it wasn’t enough for it to be considered an accomplishment.So I moved on very quickly while picking up a few small “bottles” here and there.

Moving forward a few years, I picked up another very strong bottle of struggle after I came back from a year abroad in the US. In my mind I created this story that I had to top every previous struggle in order to stay present in other people’s mind – so I chose to study economics which was considered one of the tougher subjects to study. Despite the physical depletion and the depression and anxiety that it caused, at least I could scream from the roof tops: “Look, I am working hard! I am suffering hard, so you better acknowledge that!” It may come as no surprise that I never finished my degree in economics but, no worries, I did find another bottle quickly and studied sociology/psychology. To be honest, I really enjoyed every bit of learning about the human design so I started to feel guilty about it. Therefore, I simply picked up an emotionally non-available, cheating boyfriend who made up for the lack of struggle I experienced while earning my degree. Wow, what a healthy choice!

My addiction was driving my every action moving forward. I noticed that the more I struggled, the more people (for whatever reason) paid attention to me and praised me for my hard work. I loved the taste of it.

Over time I picked up more and more of these bottles, which led me to one of my biggest struggles to date. I once had this prophetic dream of moving to the US and I felt as though it was my calling to leave my home country. At first it looked like things might fall into place, however, there came that time when I got almost deported because I didn’t have the financial means to pursue another college degree – let’s just add another struggle to the list. I had to take a trip to Canada to be able re-enter the United States legally. Opportunities were slim and I started to drown in desperation, frustration, and hopelessness. Let me tell you, that is certainly enough struggle to impress everyone around you.

Once we arrived at the immigration office, there was nothing that could explain the level of anxiety and desperation that hits you when you open that door to the waiting area where a few hundred people were anxiously waiting – each with their own personal hopes, dreams, and struggles.

After over 20 years of struggle-holism, I admitted myself into rehab, which meant I reached out for help to finally find my true identity, my soul’s identity.

As with most rehab programs, I had to go through a 12-step program.

While I was sitting there, I started to observe what was going on around me and this thought popped into my head that made me realize the extent of struggle we all go through to live a life worthy to be called an accomplishment in comparison to the social standards that we grew up in.

I wasn’t able to finish my thought when my name was called. At first, I was relieved, but as soon as I saw the expression on the officer’s face, I started to panic. His eyes were filled with bitterness. His face was a deep crimson from anger. He then proudly proclaimed that he had better things to do than to deal with my hopeless case. He was the first to tell me that my dream was dead.

Damn, all those years of struggle for NOTHING. I had nothing to show for it.

But at least I could hold up all those bottles as proof that I struggled enough to have earned the privilege of giving up.

I didn’t notice how much I was addicted to struggle until things started actually working out. I was given another chance to see my dream become reality. I married the love of my life and got my first “adult” job. But I had to face the music. I FEARED JOY. I feared letting go completely because that would have meant that I had to create a new story around my worthiness and that just created another vicious cycle of my addiction. Struggle had become my identity. My worthiness was solely dependent on my level of struggle and suffering.

One significant step of rehab required me to completely surrender to a Power higher than myself and to allow for deep, inward healing from old stories and beliefs.

Another step of the program required me to step away from social norms and “communities” that felt safe at the time, that allowed me to complain and dwell in my struggles, making them the scale of my worthiness and success. While sympathy can be helpful it didn’t move me out of my victim-mindset.

We also received a powerful prayer by Tosha Silver that I’d like to share.

“Change me, Divine Beloved, into one who fully trusts that all true needs are always met through your bounty. Let me surrender and allow you to be my Source for all. Let me breathe, relax, and let you lead. I am safe. I am peaceful. All needs will abundantly be met. I am yours completely.”

Every now and then, it is very tempting to pick up those “bottles of struggle” again, but it has become easier to acknowledge what it is, put them back down, and remind myself that my worth never depends on how much I struggle and suffer through each day – and neither does yours.

The 3 secrets that she suggests in order to make your dreams come true is really through the power of love. Colleen suggest these 3 steps to starting living with the power of love in your everyday life, so miracles can be brought to you and your dreams will start to come true.

1. Start to actually believe that your dreams can come true. A great action step to start this is get a piece of paper and write out I believe, or I choose to believe if you do not fully believe in your dreams yet, and complete the sentence with whatever your dreams.

An example is I choose to believe I can travel the world and make money.

However, she decided to go over to the ocean and take a picture of the sunset and how the picture captured the sun there was a heart around the sun. (See pictures below). See this was the sign that Colleen needed in order to believe in herself to start traveling the world and empowering others to see the importance of how to leverage social media to create divine freedom.

Then, when you start to allow yourself to dream, you start to picture how you desire your life to be, which then allows your subconscious brain to pick up patterns in the world of how you can make that dream come true‌ Facebook Ads, Billboard Ads, how people speak to you etc. All of these experiences that are around you, that you usually pay no attention to, now your mind starts guiding you to see these opportunities already existing around you which will inspire, guide and empower you to see how what you are believing is your dream can actually come true.

So, Colleen left her corporate 6 figure job again with $5,000 in her bank account to travel the world and inspire others to follow their dreams. Since then she has created a multi 6 figure business, she completed her Master of Science in Global Technology & Development, she has traveled to nearly 40 countries, she has guided many other leaders to start and grow an online brand to increase their impact and bank account.

2. Start to follow what feels good instead of what you are told to do or what makes logical sense. The biggest and most fulfilling success comes when we feel good, not when we are trying to force ourselves to do something. So, I always say truly start to tap into what feels good and follow that action more and get involved in opportunities where that takes over more of your life. The power of love is when you are truly following your

passion and passion comes from feeling good. A great exercise I share for this is write down on a piece a list of your daily activities, then circle the things that do not feel good, and see how you can start to replace these activities with something that feels amazing.

3. When following the power of love, be willing to not have all your dreams come true with how you pictured them. The power of love means that sometimes we imagine our dreams “to be a certain way.

However, there is an important lesson or what we may perceive as a failure.

However, we do not know it at the time that we are experiencing this perceived failure, which is really a lesson, which is exactly what we needed to go through before we are ready for our dreams to come true. I have had far more lessons which have then made my successes that much greater. They key in this is knowing that your dreams are always coming true in unexpected ways and to always fail forward instead of getting lost in things not working out the way that we imaged.

The power of love gives you access to a world of infinite possibilities, it gives you access to living in a world of magic where everything continues to get better and better. However, aligning yourself to what you love is where the power lies, not what other people love. To find what you love you must take action and experience different things and that will bring you closer to what you are passionately obsessed with. Many times, whatever it is we love, what excites us about life we do not even know the full depth of it yet because we do not know, what we do not know. So after reading this I hope you feel called to take one step to align yourself to live a life where you are in love with everything and see how this creates the power to all your dreams coming true.

If you are anything like me, you LOVE holidays!

I get super excited at the thought of organising a holiday and I love choosing where in the world to go. With so many stunning locations to choose from and the variety available to us, planning a holiday can be just as much fun as going away on the holiday. Especially if there are special preparations to consider and get organised.

• M ake an effort to try new things for excitement, growth and to stretch yourself out of your comfort zone • As you navigate yourself through new territory, know that awareness is key for the optimum experience.

• Know that this experience will come and go so remain present in the now to enjoy each moment to its fullest. A fulfilled life is the result of a series of enjoyed moments.

Have you ever given it a thought that you wake up on the morning of your holiday, finishing your packing and say to yourself “well in two weeks’ time I will have had a lovely time away and I’ll be back here at home unpacking so I might as well not bother and just stay here”…No! Because you know it’s not just about doing the round trip, it’s about enjoying the time either off work or away from the routine of your life and the experience of perhaps another country and culture and meeting new people.

You know your time away will be different to your everyday life, you may possibly be trying new things and you have decided to have as much fun as possible. Yes, there may be the odd stressful time while travelling but ultimately you know it’s about the experience as a whole and the wonderful memories you will be creating.

You know the holiday you have chosen may be a dream come true and the trip of a lifetime, it may be time away in the sun simply reading and relaxing on the beach, it may be an adventure full of activities or a mixture of all of the above.

One thing is for sure you have chosen to go because you want to feel good, have fun and enjoy the whole experience.

So why do I liken life to a holiday?

Because we are all born and we all die and it’s the round trip that makes it worthwhile. There is no starting at A to get to B so we can then call ourselves and our lives a success. I believe it’s the 14 | OneTribeMagazine.com

• How you feel is a choice and your feelings are the indicator as to whether you are making the most of your life or not • Be grateful that you are able to experience this journey called life.

Apply these simple techniques to your everyday life for your life to feel like a holiday every day. whole experience of A -Z and to begin again. How many times you make that journey and whether you make the most of it or not, is up to you.

How can you view your life like a holiday and what can you do differently to make the whole experience more enjoyable and worthwhile?

• First make the choice that you are going to enjoy yourself • Take the time to prepare so you have the best time (this being time out for you to gain clarity of what feels true for you) • Let go of all the things that you carry around that make you feel crappy (why would you pack these in your case to go on holiday?)

• Have an attitude that you are going to make the most of it by choosing what you love

Create little pockets of things to look forward to, for yourself and with others, every so often for variety, excitement and fun.

Why do we put things into perspective and decide to live life fully after experiencing a shock rather than choosing life every day? I firmly believe it’s because of fear based conditioning and our habitual patterns whereas if we were to view life through the same lense we view our holidays, we would consciously make the most of the whole experience we call life.

One of the greatest lessons I have learned in my life, throughout my career; various spiritual awakenings and as I continue to grow as a person, is the magical art of finding a place of comfort in the ‘unknown’.

You are teaching yourself subconsciously and otherwise that change and the unfamiliar is a place that you can and will operate in.

You see, as human beings we are hard wired to gravitate towards what is familiar (ie comfortable) in all facets of our life.

In fact, I have found that the unknown; the unfamiliar, is actually where all the magic happens.

In fact, as we mature it is scientifically proven that we start to become a set of belief systems and habits, shaped by our daily thoughts.

The growth, the manifestation and the intention you can create in this space is truly miraculous.

That the unknown can indeed be a safe and inspiring place to exist.

The first step in all of this is actually to create an awareness.

As this happens, our body becomes accustomed to our thoughts and our subsequent routine, and we begin to lose all awareness around this process that could be referred to as ‘auto-pilot.’

When you are aware of what it is you wish to change, you will catch yourself automatically slipping into these daily habits and routines unconsciously.

We stop creating our own reality and life just starts to happen to us. Instead of for us.

Without even realising it, our ego (designed to keep us safe from harm) and our brain actually start to work away in the background to steer us away from experiences, places, and people (not to mention events) that may be deemed unsafe or ‘unfamiliar’ by the subconscious mind.

From there, you can make a conscious decision to recreate this pattern. To shift these behaviours and the beliefs behind them.

Living our daily experience on repeat.

What a thing to miss out on!

The notion of becoming comfortable with the ‘unknown’ then, is actually a process whereby we start to train and re-condition our ego, mind and body to become equally comfortable with experiences that help us to redefine our reality.

Alarmingly, whilst we may have aspirations, hopes and dreams consciously; our mind, body and ego are often working against that (unbeknownst to us) in order to keep us planted firmly in the comfortable space we already find ourselves in.

For example, every time you do something outside of your daily routine, or choose to respond to a situation that triggers a certain emotional response differently than you ordinarily would, you are actually creating a new identity and reality for yourself.

Steering us away from things that may be highly desired because they are outside of our current experience.

For example, you may notice yourself wanting to drive or walk the same way to work everyday. This is quite natural.

What if you were to try a different route?

What things might you see or experience that you normally miss? Could there be beauty in this? Adventure even in this small act?

As a personal example of this in my own experience; as a nervous flyer for years I always chose to sit in the exact same seat on a plane on every domestic and international flight.

If I was upgraded I was reluctant to accept that offer of abundance because my desire for control and my egos

underlying belief that the familiar seat meant ‘safety’ had a huge strong hold over me.

It wasn’t until I created an awareness of how this need for safety and control in this aspect of my life which in reality was offering me nothing by way of safety, was my ego and my mind having their way with me, did I decide to intentionally change this behaviour.

Instead of choosing my seat at all, (yes even on the dreaded long haul international flights) I started believing and asking for the best possible seat on the plane that would allow the most comfortable experience to be delivered to me.

The more I flew on planes after this I pleasantly found that I was upgraded on most if not all flights, and as I became comfortable with the ‘unknown’ and unfamiliar, my fear of flying began to ease and I actually started to enjoy the experience.

Such simple, seemingly insignificant acts can add up over time to enable you to release this unconscious conditioning and control of the ego to allow yourself to be comfortable experiencing new things.

What is the benefit of this?

When you allow new experiences, and relinquish control over the particular outcomes, your intention to create a result coupled with your ability to detach and allow, gives the universe the opportunity to co-create with you.

Your focus on what it is you have already; your satisfaction with and attention on that and the present moment coupled with a desire for more, and a belief that anything is possible means that you allow your dreams (or potentially something even better) to be manifested into your reality.

When you walk boldly into the future and the unknown, you put faith in something outside of yourself and send a powerful intention and expectation of the best outcome into the universe.

This energy, this vibration that you send out comes back to you in ways that are often better than you ever could have conjured up or imagined for yourself or even planned for.

We are naturally abundant beings, and the universe loves, supports and wants to deliver us the best of everything.

By allowing the ‘unknown’ to be a part of your experience and trusting that it is working in your highest good, you allow true magic to unfold in your life.

And we could all do with a little more magic in our lives couldn’t we? I know I could. I expect and embrace it every day with gratitude.

Surrender to the unknown, allow miracles to unfold and above all else expect the unexpected and watch your life transform in ways you never imagined possible.

I was in this mindset for a very long time.

When I was a child, I knew that I was important. I knew I had something to say.

I knew I could draw, could recite a poem, could sing, dance, run fast, had great ideas…. I just knew. Probably like all other children.

However, over time I lost some of that confidence by learning that I cannot always tell others what to do. By learning that I could not always have it my way. By learning that it was not me making all the decision about the games to play and the things to do. By understanding that I need to be quite, wait and don’t interrupt adults when they speak. I learned to be a polite kid. A good kid that followed the rules.

Somehow, I also learned that by following and being a good kid people liked me more. It seemed as if they preferred the good kid. I received more praise being a good girl and I liked to be liked.

But also I picked up the idea that I could not change the world because I could not tell people what to do. I started to believe that I did not have influence on things that matter and that were bigger than me and you might feel that too. Maybe even right now while reading these lines.

situation. My audiences won’t be moved if my voice isn’t moving them. Suffice it to say that my voice is my primary tool in getting the motivational and inspirational results I always hope for when I appear before any audience.

This morning a profound thought washed over me. That doesn’t happen too often so when it does, I know I need to sit up and take notice! I got to thinking what a blessing it is that each one of us has been given a way to make our inner thoughts known to the outer world, the incredible gift of a speaking voice.

I spent half my life totally afraid of using my voice. I hated the sound of it. I made the choice to let other voices rule my life.

I had no say in my future and thus lost total awareness of who I was and allowed myself to be teased and bullied all the way through Junior High School.

That one thought opened the door to so many more. Not only do we have this wonderful thing called a speaking voice, but the sound and frequency of our voice is totally unique and unlike anyone else’s.

As different as you and I look from one another is also as different as the sound of our voices happens to be. Just think how many of us there are on the planet and how each voice blends a totally different set of musical notes that ends up producing the individualized sound that comes out of our mouths.

How does that happen! And how about this; It seems as if our voice is hooked up to our thoughts because as soon as we can think of something, we then are able to put those thoughts into specific words. If thoughts are things then words are not only things as well, but powerful representations of what thoughts can do to not only influence a situation, but change it for the better as well. It’s all in how you choose to use your voice.

So here’s the question; You have been gifted with this amazing thing called a voice, how well do you use it when it comes time to speak your peace? Are you afraid to use your voice in various situations? Do you choose to hold yourself back when you want to speak your truth?

How honest and connected to your heart are the words you hear coming out of your mouth when you communicate with others? Do you love the sound of your voice as much as you love yourself?

One day I realized that many negatives in our lives seem to be put there for a reason. Unfortunate situations can be very powerful learning tools if we choose to see them that way. So that’s what I did.

I flipped a negative into a positive and became an Actor. My extensive voice and improvisational acting training totally took me out of my shell and I began to find my inner center once again by using the beautiful voice that God has gifted to me.

Nowadays, that’s exactly how I make my living.

So here’s what I realized in thinking about all of this; If I was given this amazing vibratory sound energy of a thing called a voice, then I’m almost certain that this gift was given to me for a purpose. For me that has everything to do with using my voice to help motivate and create positive change when it comes to everyone that I come into contact with on a daily basis as a Motivational Speaker and Certified Life Coach. I am only as effective as my voice and the words I choose to pair up to the flow of voice coming out of my mouth when I’m in a professional

How powerful is your voice when it comes to establishing yourself in your personal and professional lives? Are you using it to your best advantage? What effect do you think it has on those that are hearing you speak?

Never be afraid of using your voice.

Be proud of who you are and the voice you’ve been given. Choose to move forward knowing that you were given a voice for a reason. Never hold yourself back and know that as long as you continue to work on believing in yourself, your voice will always be there to back you up.

You know what the primary reason happens to be when it comes to not

being effective using your own, natural voice? Fear! Allowing fear to overpower you literally closes the door to effective voice communication. If speaking up can often be an issue for you, try this: 1. How much do you want to overcome the situation?

2. Do you believe that whatever you’re going through is temporary and that using your voice in the near future is more natural to who you are than what you’re going through now?

3. Just do it! The only way to conquer fear and doubt is to put one foot in front of the other and do it. Even if you choose to finally speak up and all that comes out is just a nervous quiver of a word, that’s great! That’s a start. Don’t stop. You got this, please believe me and take it from one who’s been there…more than once 4. Your mind is very powerful. If you believe you can do this, you will. End of story. Self doubt and holding yourself back are natural. Just don’t stay there too long Try this tomorrow; Go into work and make a conscious effort to use your voice and the words you formulate using them to make a difference in any situation you may happen to find yourself in. It’s quite powerful and empowering to know that something like a well placed voice coupled with some heartfelt words can help move a situation along in a positive direction. Isn’t that what it’s all about anyway?

Rewilding the Human Machine

I often ask people to name the most ancient language. The usual responses are Sanskrit, Egyptian or Babylonian. But they’re all wrong.

The original language is far, far older than that. It is Nature. Our ancestors spoke it fluently. The rustling of wind through the trees was their newspaper. Birdsong was their entertainment and the movements of animals alerted them to possible dangers. Perhaps they were even able to communicate with the creatures of land, air and sea.

But we’ve long forgotten that language and the sacred connections among all beings, and we feel the pain of that loss like amputees do a phantom limb. We will never be fully complete unless we rewild ourselves.

I grieve to think of a world where the tiger’s tread is felt no more, where the elephant’s trumpeting is only a faint echo. I am committed to helping our children understand the beauty and complexity of the natural world.

If they are not brought up with a deep love of Nature, why would they feel compelled to fight for it as adults?

Like the fictional tigers I created for a children’s book, we have to stand our ground no matter what the odds. We have to serve, we have save and, yes, we must be fierce when necessary.

Believe You don’t have to agree with people when they have a road mapped out for you even when they have your best intentions at heart.

For me, that was my aunt and uncle telling me that I should get a ‘real job’, but I saw a different Avenue, story or whatever you want to call it for myself.

Ok, this was a few years ago when I was starting out on my international sporting career. But I did have another family member in my corner, my mother.

I’m paraphrasing now: ‘As long as you believe in your goal and strive day in and day out to make that goal a reality, I will support you’ But I started to go away from this idea of because things started to go array. But instead I started to think negatively and all the things that come with it, instead I should have followed my mum’s advice from a few years ago.

Strive to become 1% better each day and believe in myself know no matter what adversity is put in my way.

Yes, it does help if you have some positive people in your corner.

But if this isn’t, look to change the environment, because if you start to radiate success, these individuals start to become fearful, scared and want to tear you down as they don’t know how to deal with this success and it isn’t within their ‘norm’.

Bittersweet Dependence Christine Saunders | Empowerment Coach at Wholehearted Life.

Are you a “independent” type, a “dependent” type, or a mixture of both types of person?

I was a lucky girl; my mama was home with us kids growing up and she did her best to teach me how to ride this beautiful purple bike to freedom! You must remember we didn’t have personal protective gear back then so when I went down... I went down hard and it usually resulted in bleeding and scars. “I need to be watching you when you ride to make sure you’re okay” my mama would say.

My little mamas’ girl “said, okay mommy” yet my independent little girl was all about “Nah, I can do this.”

Over the journey of my life, I have been all of these in various degrees. I am almost certain everyone has been to some extent.

From children, teenagers, young adults, middle age, and our golden years we have all been from one side of the spectrum to the other, over and over.

What I have discovered in my relatively young years is the emotional intelligence and connection to each of these degrees of independence varies with the emotional stability of my heart. The space at which I am regulating from and the external vibrations that are out of my control will determine where I fall on any given moment of any given day.

Yes, if I really think about it, my need for dependence and independence can change on the flip of a coin.

I would love to start and share with you a time when I was a little girl. I don’t have memories of myself at 1 or 2, maybe around 3 years old. I question if I really have those memories at that young age or are they because of pictures?

Regardless of the age I want to share with you a story when I was around 6 years old. My uncle had given me a hand me down purple bike with a silver glitter banana seat. My 6-year-old self was the most exited I had ever been, I swear. I could see myself riding down the driveway handlebar streamers flowing in the breeze. One problem, I didn’t know how to ride a bike. I was stuck watching my older brother ride his 30 | OneTribeMagazine.com

So, what’s a girl to do? This is how I remember it going down. The first time I was able to ride alone... I snuck out the garage door and grabbed my bike. I didn’t over think it, I just got on my bike and rode. I was so excited!! Well, you know what happened? Yep, I fell! Imagine me going into the kitchen where mama was making dinner and telling her that I’d crashed.

BMX bike up and down the driveway in all his glory and independence! Then I saw the freedom on his face and in his smile! Now at 6, I didn’t know exactly what those things were... what I did know is the look and joy of my brothers face said to me… I want that too! I must have this too! Now that I had a bike, I was on a mission.

One, I snuck out, Two, I rode my bike by myself and Three, I didn’t listen to you and I fell and now have blood running down my knee. Yep, that is how I approached this situation. But what she heard was One, Her baby didn’t listen to her and wrecked her bike. Two, her baby didn’t listen and now she is hurt and bleeding. And Three, she is proud her baby rode her bike on her own with no fear. In the end, I rode my bike by myself and have never stopped.

This began the testing of my independence. Yep at 6!!! That was until I “needed” ... umm… pick whatever 7-47 year old need from their mamas and papas.

There is a need for dependence in all of us. I promise even if you say you are not dependent on anyone or anything, you are! By the end of this piece I hope you will have a better understanding and it can give you reassurance that dependence is in fact bittersweet.

So how do we know if we are over dependent on someone or to independent on no one?

In my opinion it’s based on our experiences, the level of “living we have done” (age), the way we meet our needs to feel certainty and the level of variety and adventure we need on our days to feel fulfilled.

If you like surprises and adventure, I believe you are more independent on external energy to help you feel a sense of fulfillment. If you like your ducks in a row, you will tend to be more dependent on external energy to make you feel a sense of fulfillment. Both are imperfectly

beloved... Independence to explore and do deep work on myself yet, dependent on his acceptance of the real me.

Bittersweet Dependence.

• Starting a coaching business, writing, hosting my radio show... Independence on choosing to shift yet, dependent on the support and love of not only my beloved, my friends and family to support my growth as an entrepreneur.

As Larry and Andy live on different continents, co-authoring an article goes Ping-Pong style a few paragraphs at a time until it feels complete. This month our topic is making choices, with the emphasis on how to go beyond the alltoo-familiar binary choice.

Andy:

I went on for an MBA and PhD (in Marketing). “Work in a big company or your own business”; I became an Assistant Professor at a university. “Marry a conventional woman and live in Philly”; I picked a wife who performed classical music and we lived in New York City. In a way, I was bouncing around in the binary confines!

Larry, sorry but I’ve decided to go off in a different direction. I’m about to blindside you, as I want to see how you’ll react. So what are your thoughts on ... living beyond binary thinking?

I was recently talking to someone and he said something along the lines, “You know it’s easy to know where you stand with people when they just come out and tell you whether they’re a glass-half-full or half-empty sort of a person.”

And in another conversation, someone admitted, “I’ve come to accept that life is really all about the journey, rather than the destination. And that’s not something I would have stated before.” To that, I responded, “Isn’t it about both?”

Yet in the bigger scheme of things, I know I too often make these binary assumptions. Right or wrong, up and down, safe and risky, and black and white. Now let’s set the cat amongst the pigeons. When I write beyond binary, we might think of the example of black and white. You might reply, “Well, there’s a greyscale beyond the binary choice; shades of grey and all that.” But no, I’m talking full-on, all singing, all dancing, full-blown Technicolor Rainbow Beyond Binary here.

So Larry, what’s your experience of living beyond binary? I believe this is a vital part of your recent life transformational story – in your mid-70s, going from a business intellectual to inspirational entertainer, perhaps there is a similarity of content but in a very different style. Tell me about your learning to live outside the binary choice, compared to how you lived when you were younger.

Larry:

Andy, this topic and your take on it sound like intellectual fun, which we both value and enjoy. I would like to frame our approach to this beyond-binary topic as escaping the binary trap, with its either-or rigidity inherently limiting the fullness of life, development of one’s gift, and actualization of one’s potential for greatness.

I was raised in Philadelphia, 1940s – 1960s, by a conservative extended family – reinforced by my schools, community and culture – who explicitly and implicitly laid out a plan for me – a full set of beliefs, goals and recommended actions – on how I should live the good life. To a large extent, I followed or endeavoured to, their plan.

However, the longer I’ve lived, the more the plan failed to fit me and fulfill me.

Early on I started to rebel. The family said, “A bachelor’s degree is adequate”;

Over the decades and through a combination of discovering who I am and experimenting with various lifestyle elements, I have been able to realize my authentic and true-self nature. And I’ve put together a unique and fulfilling life – well beyond my family’s comprehension and capacity to have even a conversation about it with me. I had largely escaped my forced-choice, binary framework by age 65, and even evolved into a life described in pioneering and amazing ways: From Philly to Sedona, Arizona (with a decade in Japan between) … from Jewish to Universal Spirituality … from straight identity to openly gay … from American focused to global citizen … and from recovering academic to wisdom-based edutainer.

I have defied the binary choices and largely innovated a way of life tailored to who I believe I am and what I feel I am here to do. Andy, did I answer your question?

Andy:

Well, it’s a good start. I think what you’ve illustrated is the technicolour alternative to black and white living. Life requires us to make choices; and as there are so many, we often try to reduce these down to a smaller and thus manageable level.

We also have so much to comprehend; we choose to sort the world into categories – religious orthodoxies, socioeconomic-political dogmas (politics), and fashion trends. We take this incredibly complex world and break it down and down into manageable chunks in order to make sense of it, give it some order, and make it understandable and predictable (which I know Larry believes is a foolish illusion). In the process, we drain the subtleties, textures, nuances and sheer magic out of the world and us.

Binary is the ultimate go-to strategy for pairing down. If you have only two choices, life should be easier, right? But limiting ourselves to this binary approach robs us of all other possibilities. In economics, it’s called the opportunity cost. Imagine if someone were to say you could have one of two (really nice) things of equal value. The monetary cost to you is the same: You get half of the total value; and you lose half of the total value because you have to make a choice. But imagine if there are 10 things of equal value, and you only get to choose one. Now suddenly you lose nine times what you gain. That’s painful.

I believe we know in such a rich and abundant world we will never be able to have very much of it for ourselves; and somehow we let the feeling that we miss so much of it for ourselves until it feels like a problem, a huge joy-sapping problem for many, many people.

We become focused on what we don’t have rather on what we do have. This worldview that if you have to choose from a huge selection instead of just a few, you’ll lose so much causes a huge burden, it weighs us down. Salespersons are taught to hone in on the needs of their customers and reduce the options to a single one, or at most a binary pair.

Mind-fogged customer confusion is the last thing a salesperson wants to deal with.

So Larry, how do we navigate our way through our world to discover and claim our most joyful, rewarding and fulfilling life – without reducing the world to black and white binary thinking?

Larry:

Andy, you have well laid out the forces in our world that pressure people to see and sell binary options. This has 34 | OneTribeMagazine.com

landscape. Learning how to harness the full potential of the human mind and the contributions of AI will help us escape the binary trap.

Andy:

I’ve been doing a bit of coaching and what I’ve observed in working with my client is how active observation has an influence on what happens to us. I believe humans are hard-wired to make simple choices. If you think about it, if our ancestors when they were out hunting and foraging, they might have heard rustling coming from behind a bush and they had to make a series of binary decisions: Is there something there (or is it just the wind)? If there is something there, is it a danger to me or not (predator)? Or might it be an opportunity (food)?

triggered my wanting to explore how we can maintain and even expand situations where we work with multiple options, which are genuinely different. “To binary or not to binary, that is the question”, Dr Hamlet.

I see the multiple options route as a product of greater permission and creativity. We need to permit, even encourage and assure, that we have multiple options so that we can end up with better opportunities and solutions. I am a cheerleader for greater creativity in the world so that we enjoy the best array of options that we are humanly possible of generating. We face many challenges – from what smartphone to use to how to prevent the extinction of our human species in an increasingly crisis-prone global environment. So, it’s imperative that we generate and assess a wide set of diverse options.

Ah, but the human mind has its limitations in dealing with many options which supports the binary approach, and which also is favoured by institutions striving, and largely succeeding, to control us – offering, for example, heaven and hell, open or closed borders, and radiation or chemotherapy. To the rescue is coming artificial intelligence or AI. Recent AI developments, and future one for sure, which assist in stimulating and framing numerous options, are becoming more prevalent in our decision-making

Obviously, this type of thinking helped our ancestors and evolved from our even older origins as mammals over millions of years. These simple binary choices make sense. But what if in our incredibly complex modern world, this simple break down, an instant reaction to make simple choices, doesn’t work as effectively – then what now?

My daughter is very worried about the state of the world, as many young people are these days. Yet what she’s discovering is that if she takes up a cause and takes action to “make this situation better” ... for all the right reasons ... often it turns out those actions impact something else negatively, something her (lack of) experience did alert her too.

Is a complex and evolving world good or bad? Right or wrong can be much more complex than we first realise. Thus ... the need for astute observation. But as science tells us, with the term observer effect, that the act of observing will always influence in some way the phenomenon being observed.

I’m beginning to realise that often increasing our active observation takes more time to look and question what I’m seeing, means that subtle things happen.

I influence that which I’m observing. So when I’m coaching, encouraging my clients not to do anything other than become a better observer leads to startling results. We don’t even have to make a choice. So, Larry, is that magic or what?

Larry:

Complex, simple or in-between is a relevant decision context for escaping the binary trap. And the more we put the “to binary or not to binary” choice under our magnifying glass, the more complicated and, for me at least, the more frustrating the topic becomes. So rather than add more variables to our exploration, let me cut to what I see as the chase; and for this perspective, I am grateful to my author and visionary friend, J.Hamilton.

Thanks to human evolution, we possess a brain designed to process vast amounts of information. As Joe Dispenza states, in his Evolve Your Brain: The Science of Changing Your Mind (2008), the brain processes over 400 billion bits of information per second, but the mind is aware of only about 2,000 bits a second! This suggests the mind has a very poor insight into strategizing our daily life, whether the choices are on small or large matters.

With this severe limitation for processing incoming information, the mind reverts to establishing automated patterns and habits (the subconscious), which tend to repeat.

While the mind does a generally admirable job – from working a toaster to expressing politeness – ultimately the mind delivers shortsighted, inept and just plain wrong choices because of very poor access to the overall scheme of things. Accordingly, it gets bogged down in details that show up as resistance and reactionary thinking. For the most part, we simply go forward observing and reacting to life. Not much excitement in that!

Everything else on this planet is plugged into Guidance, which delivers the holistic perspective that all is one and of which we are a part. With the shortcomings of the mind and its binary processing, we miss a great deal of what is going on – especially the subtle connection with governance that opens up the wide-world of synchronicity, harmony and order in our lives. The mind on overload misses the subtle connection that makes us whole.

So it turns out there is a third choice that is not part of the binary arrangement. We can learn how to move into Presence (no mind), for which an awesome insight of being in touch with and aware of our Spiritual side becomes available! The Spiritual Source has been called by various names, such as the Soul, Higher Self, 5th Dimensional Consciousness, I AM Presence, Divine Intelligence, and God Within.

Accessing Source happens naturally when we are being roaringly creative.

However, I believe that with the continued refinement of personal development and awakened awareness – indicated by the reduction of resistance – we can thrive in a state of consciousness that enables us to merge with a larger scale of order, and thus the binary trap disappears. As we learn to receive intuitive and insightful guidance, we mesh with the larger whole and become far more usefully contributive to our own pathway and the overall whole. Doing all this can be learned through meditation and other brain-mind health and spiritual practices.

Andy, and readers of this article are you open and ready to join me in this beyond-binary zone of thinking, feeling, living and being? Be very careful, right now your mind is probably blowing smoke to resist this prospect!

Andy:

Well, Larry, I’m glad I ambushed you, LOL. I’m not sure I fully follow your explanation – given that I lack the specific experience with Source that you are having. But isn’t that the whole point – of having a creative conversation?

We don’t have to agree, we just need to explore something and see where we end up. Me? I’m taking the insight that holding back and just observing is sometimes enough for me. I believe that you’re saying to listen to your Inner Wisdom. At times, we may even arrive at the same, or a similar, conclusion – outside of the binary trap!

Genius CREATING

AN OBSESSION WITH PERFECTION. Marie Angeline | The Lifestyle Brand Designer

Case in point, one of my clients, Adil, actually has a logo that combines his artistry, love of writing, and the natural flair he brings to his clients work. Though that was the final design, the others included using Runes, even combining the @ sign with his name and logo. So it’s a process of elimination to find the right logo, colors, fonts, pictures, and look for a site before it’s designed.

Creating a website seems easy enough, heck, anyone who’s seen Wix, Square Space, or any other site builder out there can put together a website pretty quickly.

The challenge is actually knowing how to design, factor in user experience, and ultimately what draws your readers in and keeps them reading.

I’ve dedicated my life, to the point I left my lovely corporate job, to pursue this passion and obsession with perfection in design. As an artist, I’ve spent most of my life looking at the smallest of details and seeing how the smallest of flaws and perfections make or break a masterpiece.

This is what goes into creating genius.

The problem with creating genius… You want to make sure everything is right and set before it goes live, and something I’ve realized is you can’t have everything 100% right with your website as there are always updates released or you grow as a person. The best advice I could give you is to make sure you have a designer that you’ve got a good relationship with, that understands you, and can help you build your vision.

Your website shouldn’t be any different!

When I take on a client, I have them fill out an intake form that allows me to fully understand their brand, their ideas, audience, and every detail I’d need.

By the time I’ve finished creating this document with them, I have everything I need to know about how to create the perfect design for the client and their audience.

And that’s the real challenge of creating genius - it’s constantly evolving.

The process then begins.

As I’ve mentioned, I have an obsession with perfection, which means I won’t show a design while it’s mid-way through design. The reason is simple, I change my mind and I like to only show what a client will love.

The way I start looking at ideas comes initially from perception. Particularly, the perception my clients want to portray. I begin to take that perception and start attaching to a color palette to it which suits my clients.

From there, I delve deeply into their intake form and figure out how to best

position their website. This also includes figuring out which photo’s my clients need to take or send to me in order to complete the perception they’re after.

So the question is how do I integrate that vision and my clients mission into a single logo that allows them to easily share who they are in an image. The intake form actually helps a ton here as I’m able to draw out the 3-5 things they want to be known for, and then build the logo around that.

LIVE TO GIVE What are we waiting for besides a plane, bus, trolley, train, cab, or ferry to take us to our destination; and what do any of us do with all the moments spent in waiting for transit? What happens in all that space and time between point A to point B? Is it the phone call, text message, e-mail or letter that becomes the passport, ticket, or V.I.P. pass which allows entry to that space that will offer us the sensations of upward transcendence through a word, words, phrase or full sentences that turn into a book to describe a note of arrival. Hopefully, we all have safe passage in our time travels. For me, it’s living for the lift that comes to carry me along the way as I rise in big sky country. It has never been more clear to me that it is time to rise and shine.

More often than not I am driven by self-motivation and/or instinct. I make myself do one thing or another to go on to the next now. That’s most days, but it’s not all about getting out of bed so I can follow the routine I’ve set. That’s a given. From the minute I wake up, even though I give thanks to my days with a regimented “thank you” (one foot at a time as my feet take to the floor), it is my own anticipation of the one thing that lifts me up that gives call to rise. It’s the “ah ha”, the “yes” that appears out of the blue that shifts average to outstanding, better still and easier to define, it’s up from down. What I’m getting at is, I’m always on the hunt for the lift no matter what form of transportation I’m waiting to board. It’s all about the beautiful magic stuff that elevates us and I wake to the ready for the potential encounter to embrace it. As I develop, I have discovered that a large part of my happy comes in giving. I guess it’s not just about me as I have found I live in part to give to raise my own vibration.

I Wake to the idea of living to give.

The bonus for me is getting the “ah yes” sensation from giving to other people. My circle grows by encompassing others “ups”. It is through my own self check point, I pass, and take note with watchful inclusion of other people in my surroundings.

I gain from observation; celebrations and open encouragement for all that reside in this realm. In broadening my spectrum beyond myself, my playing field is limitless.

Thankfully my “”wows” about me are abundant, and I’m the first to admit how much pleasure I get that’s totally self involved, but there is truly added height through the applause for others goods and triumphs. The “wow” times of the world are a

collaborative symphony of pleasures that compound and multiply, to grow my life lift experience. The quickest way to confirm my wear a bouts of knowing I’m on the right path with the giving to others thing is because it feels good. It’s right for me, and I love that I don’t need anyone’s approval ratings to give personal affirmation to good.

It’s nice to have a nudge, a wink and a nod. It’s reassuring to even feel agreement, encouragement and support as we go from point “A” to “B”.

Applause and cheers to boot, fuel the fire from loved ones, friends and family even fans from afar. But if there are none, and your rise isn’t televised, is what we are doing any less important? I ask myself this open ended question as I celebrate others good stuff often without bringing to the attention.

Does inspired thought not count if nobody other than yourself takes note or makes mention? Well, Question: “If a tree falls in the woods but nobody is there to listen, does it make a sound”? Answer: “Of course it does”; so too, what we do has vibrational impact with a ripple effect. If you haven’t found your own miracles and wonders to be quite something lately, wake up. Everything each of us does, matters and special attention is owed and due by you, to you for your victories and achievements. Honestly, if you can’t give yourself a bit of support, I’m sure the universe will send you a message maybe it will even be from me.

Clearly, it’s not a competition. In today’s world where we are busy trying to capture the next selfie to post, I have to wonder and ask why, any one person might think their time in the sun is any greater than another’s. That’s my own humility at play. For as much as I love being me, I’m sure each of us carriers that right to possess, love and flourish in the skin we are in. That’s what the party at the palace is about, our shine times. For now, I get almost as much pleasure transferred, through observing from a far or actual, first hand experiences, the “yippy”,”yes” and “good show” as I applaud with praise my fellow man. It’s a gift of another kind that is gives way to a quicker and more frequent step up than if I were to give celebration exclusively to my own rise. To be sure, I’m busier and happier at rest or at play, clapping for the collective good as we rise and shine as one day- by -day.

When I was in my early 20s I was engaged to be married and planning a wedding.

wanted on the outside but again I was dying on the inside.

It was one of those situations where everything looks perfect on the outside but my whole being was telling me something totally different!

Financially I was set, holidays, new cars, running a very successful business but the relationship was devoid of emotion and very little physical affection. I stayed for 6Yrs because he bought my love.

I could see myself chained to the kitchen with 3 kids under 3yrs.He had it all planned he was brought up in a very traditional family which was the opposite to mine.

One day I couldn’t handle it anymore I craved affection and physical touch I felt so alone inside I couldn’t hide it anymore, no amount of Retail Therapy was ever going to fill the hollow dark hole inside.

I felt smothered and he was showing so much physical affection & love which was very foreign & scary to me as the physical affection and love I received growing up was not of the gentle kind.

So out came the joggers again within a blink of an eye I was gone and creating a new life again, new haircut, new me or so I thought........

Within a blink of an eye I was on a flight to England to embark on travel and a live in Nanny career with my best friend for a year.

I felt hopelessness and Despair....

I was Known as the RUNAWAY BRIDE! I missed the affluent life but it was more important to sothe my soul than any amount of money could give.

What I didn’t realise was every time I ran away from what was going on inside those same issues don’t go away, they are with you all the time. What I chose in a partner was someone void of emotion.

This can become a very safe but a extremely lonely place to be.

I had been hurt too many times to be able to let love in, so I chose safe.

In fact I didn’t know what love was ?

My parents split up when I was young and my mother was hardly ever around and when she was we avoided her Rollercoaster of emotions.

I have come to realise Love is not only full of Happy, Feel Good, Empowered Emotions its also full of Dark, Difficult, Messy Heartbreaking Emotions these emotions are a contract of Life.

I enjoy being single!

I lived a very full exciting single life that

I decided I didn’t need a man to be happy and I was going to remain single forever.

Until one day 2yrs later a guy caught my attention. Warning bells were going off in my head. He started speaking and I fell in love with the accent. He was French full of romance and love and excitement, he knew the right things to say and in a flash we decided to start a relationship and move to a new state.

Everything was Exciting and fun, we laughed a lot and him being a professional photographer we would go on a lot ofoutdoor adventures. It didn’t take long for the dark clouds to move on in.

He suffered a back injury years earlier and defied the odds and walked but his body was left broken he had a spinal fusion and was in chronic pain which kept him up most nights which called for Heavy duty drugs.

He decided to drink himself to oblivion to avoid the pain rather than take the drugs which put him in a zombified state would be a better option......

Before too long I was dealing with an angry drunk that started to get violent every night.

So on went the joggers.

I fled throughout the night finding safety with a friend who then became my housemate.

A day later he fled the country with the $40,000 I had lent him a year earlier.

All the trapped childhood traumas paid me a visit that night, abandonment, rejection issues and “ the Loser again�, lit up through ever part of my being like a light show..

It felt like someone had ripped apart my soul and taken my security, I couldn’t see a way forward.

At that moment I made a decision to remain single for the rest of my life I couldn’t bare anyone else stomping on an already broken heart.

An all too familiar place.....

I decided to focus on creativity for a while.

Months and months of healing through Art was a transformational process.

I have spent a lot of my life not allowing my emotions to have space but instead pushing them down because I thought it would make me weak....

They build up inside and come out in different ways and for me they presented themselves with deep Dark depression.

I was finding it hard to not see anything good in my life, to losing my sense of humour, to not getting out of bed for days and thoughts of suicide became a daily thing for me.

The place I moved into with a friend from work was extremely noisy and full of kids, kids that wanted to know everything about me it felt like I had been dropped in the middle of a school yard.

At the time I was feeling angry and couldn’t believe I had landed in such a place.

I am so grateful I was placed there as they played a role in pulling me out of the dark times I was in.

During my creative days, I would open the garage door halfway to get a bit of fresh air and to let the light in on numerous occasions I would turn around after being so focused on my painting and have 10 sets of eyes looking at me and 100s of Questions being fired my way.

When I’m creating I’m in my zone and healing at the same time so I didn’t think it appropriate these children should hear the words and very dark emotions and music coming out of that place.

So I made a deal with little people if they left me alone to create during the week then I would open my garage up for art classes every Wednesday.

It didn’t take long for word to spread I had a full house of energetic, talkative lil’ people wanting to create.

Each week numbers built until I ran out of room to hold them all.

It gave me a Purpose.

One of my students would travel a fair distance to come to my class. His dad showed a lot of interest in what was going on in that garage the place was ALIVE with music, laughter and a hive of activity and mess.

the rest is history.

You know that feeling when you have just done a bungee jump or pushed yourself past your fears and gone on that roller coaster that makes your cheeks wobble so much that your face feels stretched out of shape?

Magnify that feeling by10 and that is how I was feeling .

Entering a new relationship which I have been in for 6 years now, my joggers đ&#x;?ƒâ€?♂ď¸? have never been far away! But I only use them at the gym or during exercise instead of running from relationships.

When two different worlds, and two different beliefs systems come together there is always going to be a settling in period (and for me it came in a package with two boys and a pug ).

This relationship hasn’t always been easy but it is real. The key is to be open and honest with each other which sometimes causes conflict and to learn to fight constructively in a way that leaves you feeling better about your partner. A lot of the time when you fight its only just a misunderstanding.

It normally comes down to “I DON’T FEEL LOVED, I DON’T FEEL SEEN/ HEARD OR I DON’T FEEL HONOURED RIGHT NOW “.

Every irritating fault about someone else has a long history behind it.

They were shaped by troubles and flaws in their world.

Everyone is imperfect!

Be kind instead of right.

Switch from blaming others to understanding yourself.

Good Relationships don’t happen overnight.

They take commitment, compromise, selflessness and forgiveness.

One day after Artclass this same dad called the kids out to show them the moon. This particular night the moon was beautiful, full with a ring around it. He spent time explaining to the kids about why the moon had a ring around it and I couldn’t help but come over and join in.

I started to really observe my actions and the role I played in this relationship.

It felt divinely guided, as I spoke to him I could feel his heart, he had a kind loving energy and I couldn’t help but feel drawn to him.

All we both ever wanted is “ to love and be loved�.

He was getting over a terrible situation with his ex wife and was also mending a broken heart.

That night he asked me on a date and

This man has taught me what love is. I feel like he has my back, and truly Loves me.

I have learnt to Embrace Love.

I learnt to soften my Heart

I would observe and stop myself when I was wanting to run far away.

I made myself accountable to my man & made sure I was available to the relationship.

When your heart can hold that true level of intensity as in a relationship then OneTribeMagazine.com | 41

you are available to true love, and your partners emotions become safe with you.

Every little rip and scar and split fibres of your heart is a conflict, no-one will get through life with an untouched heart so why not let love in?

As scary and unfamiliar as it was I wanted to make this work “If you want to feel the game of true Love you need to open yourself up to the full range of human experience & this relationship has been like a mirror presenting everything to me, the good, the bad and the ugly.

I have learnt alot about myself, relationships and Love and its all been worth it.

You see if you keep doing the same thing you get the same results, oh and the visions of being a lonely old lady with đ&#x;’Ż cats was kinda a prompt đ&#x;˜‚đ&#x;˜…đ&#x;˜źđ&#x;˜ž I am fortunate enough to now know what it feels like to be deeply connected to someone.

It’s about being vulnerable and open.

Its about Loving yourself & allowing others to love you.

I spent years saying all sorts of horrible things to myself inside my own head đ&#x;¤Ż that I wouldn’t even say to an enemy.

Keep on top of your thoughts they can either take you to that amazing place where your life is unfolding at a great speed to the most amazing places or it is the most horrible dark place where there is no way out!

If someone had wronged me, it took me a while to let it go.

That shit eats inside your entire being long after the event.

Learning about Forgiveness and moving on was a life changer for me.

Then the moment came when I was honest with myself honesty is truly about how you manage the most important life relationship you’ll ever enter have which is the one with yourself.

I started to seek help and really embody this and I was shown all the mechanisms I used to avoid being completely honest and vulnerable with myself and became better at using solutions instead of excuses.

Be honest with yourself.

Take back your own personal power.

Own your shit, all your shit and life becomes easier.

Wave the white flag.

Release your need to control.

Stop worrying about the rocks you may hit....

Love From Hate To

As I was growing up I hated my dad. It made me hate all boys and men who tried to get close to me as well because as they say, a woman’s first boyfriend is often the dad. At this point in time I ask myself why and the two reasons that come to mind is that one, he disappointed me in a huge manner.

That and the fact that he hurt my mother deeply. How was I ever to come to love such an evil creature? Someone who used women and trashed them like toilet paper when he was done with them?

How could I love someone who never loved me at all?

At eleven years of age this was the first time I realized how bad things were. To make it worse, my sister saw it all. These were things I had hoped to protect her from since I was the first born in the family. My family crumbled from then on and the two got separated. We moved out with our mum though she had left us there in the beginning.

That was not the only thing. At 24 years of age I came to learn that my mother was HIV positive and had been for a long time. At eleven years of age while we were having family wrangles she had also been sick and it is my dear father who infected her, knowingly then hid it from her and it is only when father began being sick that mother was advised to have a test taken herself.

My father was a womanizer in the highest degree. He had affairs left right and centre and women were always brought home when mummy was not around.

At ten years of age my heart knew hate for I looked at the women disdainfully whenever they came home. At that age I already knew it was not right. The television taught me a whole lot.

This one woman I remember was brought home by daddy when mummy had left for a seminar. I was around eleven years of age. He worked with dad at his place of work. I remember almost sneering in reply at her greeting noting the red talons she had as nails and the matching six inch heels that click-clacked around the house as she moved around as if she owned the place. She ordered us around, helped dad make lunch and while eating removed a smudge from his collar while smiling sheepishly and pushing back her wig with her talon nails and a look of ownership, like she belonged in that house. It made me wonder how many times she had come to the house in our absence. All I saw was a green eyed devil coming to replace mommy but felt at loss of what to do.

At some other point mother was beaten very brutally by dad because she caught him with the same devil with talon nails that was set on destroying our family and made noise about it. She was beaten out on the football grass field where the she-devil was being taught how to drive my father’s car. God I hated her. I hated how I saw mother come to the house bare-foot like a woman from a psychiatric hospital that had escaped. Her beautiful hair was all over the place, her recently pedicured feet covered in mud, her face in tears and yammering words to herself with her forehead swollen from the fight.

For a long moment I wondered what monster my father was? When my mother opened up to the three of us (her children), I was in tears for days and for a long time I asked myself why? He was always absent from our lives, always busy, never providing for our needs until a time when everything turned to worse.

He married another wife and to him we were past tense. For a long time I could not stand the site of him and men generally for he represented the lot of them. My relationships with the opposite sex was always filled with a lot of mistrust which cost me for in life we are what we attract right?

At the age of 25 years of age my father lost his job because he was corrupt. It was a very well-paying job that had him in high status in society and that was the beginning of the downfall. When poverty slowly creeped into his life, he went into depression and fell ill because he had also been HIV positive and was not adhering to his medication. His other wife

and child got tired of taking care of him and he was brought to us while on his death bed. My father has been staying with us from that time while all the while bedridden and not able to do anything by himself. Taking care of him is hard, especially when he pees or poohs and we have to clean him up. We could not take him to a nursing home because his condition was very critical and even the money for that was an issue. He also has Dementia so his mind is not fully right.

My mother took him back. For a long time I wondered why and how that was possible. After all the hell he took us through? Then I came to see reason with time. There was a history behind his actions. This was someone who grew up abused most of the time by his parents.

He grew up not knowing what love is.

How then was he to give it to someone else fully? He was never taken care of!

How then was he ever to take care of someone else? Even in his sickness his own parents rejected him? His own family, left him with us and do not want anything to do with him.

Then something happened! When we took care of him, with my mother taking the lead most of the time while having to still keep a job herself, we saw him change. We saw him become more humane, say sorry for what he did. Of course he still orders us around but he is appreciative of the fact that he is taken care of. The care we have given him with love has made him reach out to a part of him where there is love as well.

When I ask myself who I am, then I know that I am an embodiment of love and creativity. When I treat my father with love, I feel an inner joy. I must be honest though, it is a work in progress.

For a long time I resented him. Now I realize that it serves me no purpose and only hurts me more. I also realize that I really did not hate him as such, I just felt sidelined and hurt that he had abandoned us and chose to pretend I did not care when in essence I did.

We get what we give. I chose to give love to my father. That is what I have received back and even though financially, we face struggles, there is joy and laughter in the house. I see kindness in his eyes and with the pets we keep in the house.

It is not perfect, but it is worth it.

My point is, we are never really victims and each situation comes to teach and there is a hidden treasure behind every experience. We are never villains. I ask myself why my dad became sick? Was

his soul/spirit/superconcious tired of the path it had chosen and decided it wanted it wanted to be more humane? Because now I do not see a devil? I see one of the kindest souls that ever lived. I see a side to him that I never saw before.

Is it then a pitiful sight that we fell from grace to grass and have financial difficulty to some extent? It’s taught me creativity and the fighting spirit.

Collectively, I realized, through our subconscious, we created this reality and have the power to change it. This experience made me ask the right questions and get answers. Is it wrong that I lost my job and had to come back home? No, because I bonded with my father and learnt him anew. I appreciate what I have all the more.

When we choose to see the gift and hidden treasure out of every creation, we find the answers our spirits seek and we realize that there is no ‘badness’ just learning and even darkness just makes us more cognizant of the light within.

No curses exist. We are creators of our reality and each moment is meant to make us realize our highest power, which is to create and observe every moments we live. Finally, we can always find ourselves, even when we have sunk deep into the dark.
