Dear Neighbors, Do you remember the moment you saw the 2020 crisis coming? For me, it was March 12. I got an email in my inbox, the subject line reading, “It’s going to get worse before it gets better.” An ominous message ended with “we would like to help.” About an hour later, Laurie Andrews, the president of the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole called, and said, “we’re in an emergency meeting, and we want to help One22 get prepared.” We were asked, “Does One22 have a plan coming together?” We didn’t. But we made one, and re-made it several times over. This report is the story of that plan. As businesses shut down for April and May, employers referred folks to One22 for help with rent and other critical expenses. People from all walks of life needed assistance with food, transportation, and information. As the tourist season brought record breaking crowds, it also brought stress and unpredictable, sporadic work loss.

On behalf of all of us, thank you for your confidence and your continued moral support. We’re not out of the woods yet. But with your help, One22 will keep taking the next bold step.

At One22 Resource Center, we launched a formulaic, human-centered approach to getting more than $2.7 million of financial assistance out quickly. We entered into a thoughtful conversation with our friends at the Jackson Cupboard and decided to join forces so that more food could get to more people than ever before. We worked collaboratively with the many human service workgroups to streamline services, identify changing needs, and look for those left behind in the rush to digital communication. We learned a lot about what we can do together. And we’ve embraced the upsides of the digital world, even while longing for the face-to-face contact we missed. What I’ll remember most about 2020 is the early outpouring of generosity and trust. From donors like you, who showed up before being asked. From the volunteers at the Jackson Cupboard, who stepped boldly into a new operation. From the bright new employees, who joined our team with enthusiasm. And lastly, from the longtime, dedicated staff who honed new skills and spoke up to keep us on track. We would not have have the courage to make bold decisions without you. In Gratitude,

Sharel Lund Executive Director

Dear Friends, If we could describe the way our community handled the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in a single phrase, it would simply be “showing up.” Time and again, you showed up - for One22 Resource Center, for the people in our community who were struggling, for each other. From the first mention of the presence of the virus in Jackson, our neighbors identified ways to join together, even while being apart. At One22 Resource Center, we saw this type of community every day. Staff members worked long, tiring hours to ensure access to financial assistance before state and federal benefits started. Our fellow board members made themselves available for meetings at all hours to support our staff. Longtime volunteers came together to get food out into our community, even amidst changes in the location and scale of the food access program. Donors came together to raise an incredible $2 million in less than two months. So, to each and every one of you - thank you, for showing up. While this journey is far from over, we look forward to standing together as we work to create lasting change in our community. In Gratitude,

Bob Hartman Co-Chair, Board of Directors

A Story of Scale Almost overnight, the landscape of need in our community began to shift. As quickly as we were alerted to the first positive COVID-19 case in Teton County, businesses began to close. Because of our work in the realm of financial assistance, we knew we were uniquely positioned to step up to the challenge of the financial crisis that would ensue in the weeks to come. On March 16, we sent staff members home to work remotely. By March 20, we had launched the first iteration of our new financial assistance application. In the days and weeks following, we were inundated with requests for assistance as many individuals in our local workforce experienced loss of work due to business closures and safety protocols. At this time, state and federal benefits had not yet begun. We brought on new staff members to assist with these efforts. We have always known the Greater Teton community to be generous and to show its care for a fellow neighbor. The outpouring of support we experienced was only matched by the number of individuals in our community who were struggling to make ends meet after days and weeks without work. In less than two months, this community came together with more than $2 million in support of our financial assistance efforts. One22 staff worked with the Teton County Health Department and partners at Teton County Systems of Care and the Human Service Council to determine ways to address food insecurity, housing insecurity, immigration, and more.

In the spring and summer of 2020, One22 client services team members distribute meals from Cafe Genevieve and school supplies to local students.

Much of the local workforce slowly returned to work in the summer and our team fell into a more manageable workload. And as quickly as the COVID-19 cases decreased, they increased again. This cycle continued throughout the fall and into winter, and our team remained nimble to respond to the everchanging crisis. By the end of 2020, our organization distributed more than $2.4 million in financial assistance to 1,932 local households. Our ability to scale our services to the shifting landscape would not have been possible without the generous support of donors like you. The care this community provides for one another is powerful, and we are honored to be part of it. “You lifted a huge weight off of me and of many others I know as well...thank you so much for helping us, for supporting us, for that great loving heart you have, that prompts you to share what you have, and all that has cost you.” -Rachel*, mother of two *name changed for anonymity

Stronger Together: One22 Resource Center + Jackson Cupboard In the early days of the pandemic, we honed our focus to ensure members of our community were able to stay in their homes, with food on their tables. As such, we began providing food assistance in the form of grocery store gift cards and referring individuals to the bounty of food resources available in the community. As the crisis continued, we recognized the importance of helping individuals and families alleviate their food budget using these many food resources, including the Jackson Cupboard. The Jackson Cupboard’s long standing legacy in the community, paired with One22’s operational systems, case management expertise, and cultural experience, made the addition of this program area a natural fit. After officially merging with the Jackson Cupboard in October, we moved into a joint food access and meeting space. In late October, we hosted Scouts of America’s Scouting for Food event, and unpacked and sorted tons (literally!) of food to begin to stock the shelves in our new location. As winter approached and Covid cases once again began to rise in Teton County, we made the difficult decision to move to online ordering and curbside no-cost grocery services. Throughout the holiday season, we worked creatively to partner with other organizations and provide some special meals for community members to bring cheer in a dark season. Community partners graciously prepared soups to be distributed in the winter months for our Comfort at the Cupboard program. Staff members and volunteers greeted shoppers with smiles on their faces, and we began to set record numbers of visitors to the Jackson Cupboard. The addition of this program has given shoppers the opportunity to access our other services, such as youth activity scholarships and financial assistance. At the end of 2021, we are looking forward to celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Jackson Cupboard!

“To everyone working with the food bank. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The food you have given me has provided me relief and comfort words can’t describe. Great job making it comfortable asking for and picking up items, helping our community, and preventing waste. Thanks to all involved.” - Jackson Cupboard shopper

Staff members prepare meal kits for A Teton Thanksgiving, a collaborative effort of 12 local organizations and chefs. Through this initiative, more than 100 households enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal.
