Geeta Sharma a known name in the linguistic and literature world of Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh is a tribal state in the eastern part of India which is highly rich in culture. Unfortunately, due to infiltration of outsiders in the state, most people speak in Hindi rather than Chhattisgarhi, thus imposing a great threat to their mother tongue “Chhattisgarhi”. However, on identifying this problem Dr. Geeta has come forward to give proper justice to Chhattisgarhi language through numerous forums. Now she has dedicated her entire life to popularise Chhattisgarhi language and showcase it to the world. It will be unjust if I do not speak out a few words about Dr. Geeta Sharma and her contribution towards Chhattisgarhi literature.
I came across with Dr. Sharma through one of my colleagues at Chhattisgarh and wanted to highlight some notable accomplishments and contributions which are as under.
Dr. Geeta Sharma is a simple, sober, yet confident, knowledgeable and Chhattisgarhi literature loving lady who has given her immense contribution in the domain of literature, academics and mythology in the state of Chhattisgarh.
She is a rising star in the world of Chhattisgarhi literature, and a multitalented personality. She is a writer, poet, columnist, researcher and a translator. Her notable works include Mahabharat ke patra,Isadi nauw Upanishad Chhattisgarhi, Shiv Mahapuran. Most of her literary works are related to Chhattisgarhi Language and her constant untiring effort towards the upliftment of her mother tongue is really awe-inspiring. She is the first person who acquired world record from Chhattisgarh state for her contribution in Shiv Mahapuran. This Shiv Mahapuran and Isadi nauw Upanishad Chhattisgarhi were published by Government of Chhattisgarh. Her many articles were also published in several reputed magazines which were felicitated by India Book of Records and Global book of records.
While working as a researcher she has already begun to write manuscripts for different journals and magazines. Her write-up, Badka Dai was published by Baibhav Prakashan. Badka dai book was translated by her, whose main writer was Dr. Ram Nivas Sahu. In this book writer narrated about the love and affection of a mother towards her son. Apart from this, her many poems, folk stories, write-ups and articles are published in different reputed magazines and newspapers. She has given her magical touch to most of the write ups that has touched the hearts of numerous Chhattisgarhi people.
She is also a meticulous researcher who has contributed in many research articles in national and international research journals. Further, she has put her best efforts to popularize her mother tongue among the people of Chhattisgarh by participating in different seminars. Few of her poems were also published in international reputed magazine namely Hindustani Amerika and Basudha Canada. Along with this, some of her notable literature in Chhattisgarhi language i.e ‘’Manu Smruti, Abhigyan Sakuntalam, Panchatantra, Dhamchak, Upanisad ki Suktiyan, Chhattisgari Poem’’ are in the pipeline and waiting for publication.
Dr Geeta was also felicitated through many organizations for her commendable work on Chhattisgarhi language.
She had participated and contributed substantially through many online platforms even though in lockdown situations during the CORONA period. Her untiring hard work has been recognized during this COVID-19 pandemic period and she was felicitated as a CORONA WARRIOR by many state level and national level organizations and Institutions of repute.
Her contribution has been well recognized by Governor of Govt. of Chhattisgarh state. She was encouraged by many eminent personalities as well as Govt. administration to take forward this noble work further. As far as my knowledge, each and every state’s people will grow and prosper if they gave due respect to their mother tongue and culture. If one’s mother tongue is rich then undoubtedly, the entire nation will be rich as well.
Therefore, I must say that the effort, Dr. Sharma is putting for a noble cause must be supported and encouraged by each and every Chhattisgarhi. Further, looking to her dedication and unanimous contribution, if Govt of Chhattisgarh will recommend her name to the Govt. of India for the prestigious honor PADMA SHRI it will be a real motivation and gift for her hard work.
I wish all success in her mission.

GEETA SHARMA Highly Appriciable Work
Dr. Indira. P. Rtd prof and Head of sahithya department, Central Sanskrit University, Rajeev Gandhi Campus, Sringeri, Karnataka.
The culture and civilization of India is based on our valuable treasures of wisdom, i.e. Vedas, Ithihasas, Puranas etc. Puranas are very important because they d e s c r i b e s t h e h i s t o r y o f t h e u n i v e r s e f r o m c r e a t i o n t o destruction and the genealogies of kings, heroes, sages ,deities, cosmology, geography and almost a l l b r a n c h e s o f k n o w l e d g e . Puranas provides friendly advice and lead us to a path of spirituality, morality and humanity. They direct us the way to achieve our lifegoals and thereby making it fruitful and peaceful.
Eventhough the word Purana literally means old or ancient, they are very relevant in this modern world. So we can say pura api navam puranam.
A m o n g t h e P u r a n a s , Sivamahapurana is very popular a n d i m p o r t a n t . B u t t h i s v a s t treasure is in Sanskrit language. So it is very necessary to translate these valuable texts into other regional languages.
I appreciate Geeta Sarmaji for h e r i n i t i a t i v e i n t r a n s l a t i n g S i v a m a h a p u r a n a i n t o C h a t t i s h g a r h i l a n g u a g e . I n Naishadheeyacharita Mahakavya four stages of learning are stated. T h e y a r e a d h e e t i , b o d h a , acharana and pracharana. Geeta sharma, by this translation is doing pracharana. I believe this will help the people to read, chant and understand all the content and importance of Sivapurana.
I hope she will continue her s a p a r y a f u r t h e r. M a y L o r d Paramasiva give her health and energy to contribute more useful books in this field. I wish all success in her future endevours. Loka samastha sughino bhavanthu, Ohm Namah Sivaya.
