OHIO MUSIC EDUCATION AS S OCI AT I ON

CLEVELAND 2019 NORTH COAST

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE JANUARY 31 - FEBRUARY 2, 2019

P RES ID EN T’S WELCOME Dear Conference Participant: I’d like to personally welcome each of you to Cleveland, Ohio for the 2019 Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference. We are fortunate to have an annual conference of the depth and magnitude of OMEA to enrich our professional lives, afford us opportunities to grow, and remind us of the need to always be adaptable, motivated, and open to new ideas. We are excited to share with you the third largest music conference in the United States with nearly 300 sessions presented by nationally recognized master teachers demonstrating research-based, best practices in the field of music education. In addition, there are over 30 performing ensembles presenting concerts showcasing the talents of our Ohio student-musicians, and an array of nearly 250 exhibitors presenting the latest products in our music industry. A conference of this scope is unimaginable without the vision and dedicated work of many people. A huge thank you to our Director of Professional Development, Mark Hensler, and our OMEA staff under the leadership of Executive Director, Roger Hall, who have devoted countless hours to making this event a successful one. A debt of gratitude also goes to our Conference Content Chairs, All-State Chairs, Property Chairs, and all the volunteers. I’d like to thank each of your for attending our conference and bringing your expertise to our professional development. You, as music educators, have the vision, the knowledge, the wherewithal and the experience to help us pave our way into the future. You are truly our greatest asset and we could not accomplish what we do without your support and leadership. Throughout this conference, I ask you to stay engaged, keep proactive and help shape the future of music education. My personal respect and thanks goes out to all of you for what you do for music education in Ohio. Sincerely, Kathleen McGrady President, Ohio Music Education Association
