We�come to our Fifteenth Annual Red, Set, Go Event!

The Red, Set, Go! Luncheon has been a fixture in Clallam County for 15 years – raising funds and increasing awareness about the devastating effects of heart and vascular disease.

Olympic Medical Heart Center has state-of-the-art equipment, and staff who are ready to provide you and your families high quality cardiac care when you need it.

Produced by Olympic Medical Center Foundation and presented by Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, the luncheon remains true to its original intent of being an educational event about heart disease, while raising funds for local cardiac care. Through the generosity of attendees, Olympic Medical Center Foundation has raised $590,000 dollars to date – with very tangible effects on the care of our patients. This event has helped fund a nuclear cardiology camera for doing stress testing, a cardiac monitoring device system, new treadmills and exercise equipment for our rehabilitation programs, new defibrillators for our community and many other smaller items. Many of these purchases would have been delayed or never happened without this event. It makes me proud to live and work on the North Olympic Peninsula!

While some of our providers retired this year, Olympic Medical Heart Center continues to provide specialized services with two cardiologists, a cardiac nurse practitioner and an internal medicine physician with a pacemaker and device focus. And we look forward to new recruitments, which are ongoing.

Keynote Spea�ers DR. KARA KURTZ URNES is a local cardiologist at Olympic Medical Center. She is the medical director of Olympic Medical Heart Center and clinical director of Olympic Medical Physicians Specialty Clinic. She is board certified in Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography.

A graduate of Stanford University, she attended medical school at the University of Utah and did both her Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Washington.

She has been a regular presenter at this event in the past and has been a bronze sponsor every year.

DR. JOSHUA JONES, Chief Physician Officer for Olympic Medical Physicians, ensures the operation of OMP clinics in Port Angeles and Sequim, including the Cardiology Clinic.

Dr. Jones completed medical school at the University of Washington, psychiatry residency in Vermont, and a forensic psychiatry fellowship in Rochester, NY. He served in the United States Army as a psychiatrist in Iraq.

He and his wife have two spirited children and moved to Port Angeles in 2010. His passions include outdoor athletics, meditation, and de-stigmatizing mental illness so treatment for mental conditions is as accessible as for any other medical condition.

Keynote Speaker: Kate McDermott A James Beard finalist in 2017 (the Academy Awards for the culinary world) and an internationally renowned and best-selling writer, Kate McDermott is the author of Pie Camp: The Skills You Need to Make Any Pie You Want, Home Cooking with Kate McDermott, and the best-selling Art of the Pie, currently in its seventh printing. She has been named “Food Rock Star” and “Pie Whisperer” and has received high praise from many food experts worldwide – she has now sold over 100,000 cookbooks. In addition, she has taught almost 6,000 people in her pie making classes, appropriately called “Pie Camp.”

Keynote Speaker: Dr. John Mignone Dr. John Mignone works at Swedish Heart & Vascular Institute with a specific focus on its Advanced Heart Failure Program.

Swedish has established an Advanced Heart Failure Program to meet the needs of the growing number of patients diagnosed with heart failure, a serious diagnosis which kills four people a day in King County alone, and affecting nearly five million people in the US. These patients require comprehensive management with a heart failure cardiologist along with a heart failure program versed in the most up-to-date treatment options and technologies available. The program is able to provide additional services to patients including pharmacy, social work, palliative care, genetic screening and rehab medicine. Program specialists have extensive experience in treating heart failure as well as the multiple co-morbidities usually found in a heart failure patient.

Dr. Mignone has expertise in cardiac stem cell methods and treatments, and is writing the “Heart Regeneration” chapter for the third edition of Heart Failure: A Companion to Braunwald’s Heart Disease.

The Micra Leadless Pacemakers are the new technology in the field of cardiac implantable electronic devices. At a 93% smaller size of conventional pacemakers, the Micra is placed directly within the heart. This allows for the device to operate without leads; hence leadless pacemaker.
