Project Motivation

Project Aims As the project will be executed in the city of Arts & Culture in the New Administrative Capital. It aims to highlight environmental problems of today and any futuristic concerns.

Project Aims:

• Increase the awareness.

• Give the people sense of responsibility towards the environment.

• Highlights major global environmental issues.

• Create better and more developed thinking communities and generations.

• To create a place that tells the story of human destruction / interference with Nature mostly through displayed and interactive physical models.

Project Motivation

Project Description It includes several topnotch projects being executed for the first time in Egypt.

• The total area of the city of Arts & Culture is about 127 acres.

• The city also hosts the New Opera House.

• The city also is the home for Capital Library, the Museum of Egypt’s Capitals, the Museum of Modern Art, the Documentary Cinema, the Oud House, the Contemporary Music Building, and the orchestra and ballet training halls. In addition to including a symposium for sculptors Water & Power stations. Also, a Mosque that welcomes seven hundred occupants.

• The City of Arts and Culture includes a few ceremonies, galleries, graphic studios, shops, restaurants, and cafes.

Environmental exhibition showcases innovative solutions to environmental issues and is designed to empower students and visitors to develop their own creative solutions and become advocates for sustainability.

Through various forms of art and visual aids, it promotes environmental awareness and aims to increase interest in the preservation of the environment.

The purpose of the exhibition is to present a variety of powerful visual images in order to inspire others to strive to achieve a more sustainable, harmonious and healing relationship with Mother Nature.

The Ecological Exhibition We have witnessed drastic environmental impacts from climate change in the last few years , an idea to create an exhibition that highlights the importance of Maintaining the Ecosystems, how they were and how they are now.

In every zone the user will get to experience the features of every ecosystem (Desert , Tundra , Ocean/ Aquatic and forests ) through light , temperature, visual infographics and physical environment simulation.

The Display units are made of recycled durable aluminum, Ambient Lighting Panels (to avoid strong shadows), Information Screen.

The Units are designed well crafted and curved to give the impression of softness and to make it easier to freely move around them.

Also the wayfinding signage plays an important role to direct the people with the places of every ecosystem built in the exhibition.

The floor is made out of polished concrete to ensure durability for any kind of activity with the unexpected amounts of visitors daily.

Entry to The Gallery “This Area was specifically designed to give the feeling of connectedness with nature and also cleanliness, throughout it’s raw materials like Timber. In addition to the introduction of Natural light again after the Exhibition tour which depends on artificial lighting. Moreover, the Transparency played an important role to give the visitor a sense of what’s going on from wherever he stands. Additionally to see all the layers of nature bonded together ”

The Gallery The goal of this space is to wind down a bit after the moving through circular path with a more straightforward, clean and direct display techniques .

The space is also designed for displaying any kind/form of art that is small in size.

Moreover, the gallery encourages the flexibility of changing the items if needed in the future.

Only Two materials were used avoid unnecessary distractions.

There’s always a beauty in the emptyness of the space specially when it serves it’s function.

Restaurant The Plan was designed to make the most out of every corner and to achieve balance despite the uncommon distance between some of the existing columns.

Different types of seatings were also taken into account to fit to everyone’s preference.

Dining Chairs - Tables - Bar Stools - Modular Bench - Booth Seating “In the front facing elevation I wanted to make an unforgettable experience from the moment of entering the space. The main concept was to create somehow a living environment that is full of vitality and movement inspired from life”

SKETCHING The two columns were connected together using gypsum board that is being cut in a circular form and then added layers of marble to match with the columns finish and to keep the overall design connected without showing the columns.

Moreover Brass strips were used to cover the cutting edges on the marble and gypsum board to match with the side of the columns and also to provide a sense of zen in the booth area. Additionally the the columns were treated from their bottom by cladding the edges and using cornices

The landscape area is designed to be in the center between the five main buildings (B101/102) and it serves as a connection / shourtcut for more accessibility and reachability.

The Outdoor Area is divided into corridors, water fountains, seating area, greenery.

Palm Trees were used to be viewed as guidance to the main corridors and also to draw attention to the beauty of classical design and also to the sky. Cypresses are used to give a classic greek impression and also to provide some privacy in the seating area. In addition to acting as noise cancelling factor. Moreover, it has a distinguished smell.
