IDTOWN CROSSING WAS ONE of the first projects in the nation to be nominated for prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification under the US Green Building Council’s pilot Neighborhood Development Certification program. It’s the only project selected to participate in Nebraska or Iowa. LEED for Neighborhood Development recognizes projects that protect and enhance the overall health, natural environment and quality of life in their communities through: smart location and transportation linkage, environmental preservation, compact, complete and connected neighborhoods, and high-performance, green construction and technology.

PURCHASED HOUSE OF J in December 2002,” said owner Denise
Willett. “A friend of mine told me the business was closing and I should buy it.” Willett’s mom, JoAnn, was in poor health, so keeping the “J” seemed perfect. Willett initially kept the store’s Bel Air Plaza location as well, but later moved to Montclair Shopping Center for better exposure and traffic flow in late 2005. “And we’ve never looked back!”

CHRODER CONCRETE WAS ESTABLISHED in 1998 as a residential
concrete contractor for homebuilders. We took our first stamped concrete class by Stampcrete International from Ready Mixed concrete in 2002. We then went to Atlanta’s Decorative Concrete Institute for decorative finishes like engraving, acid stains, and dyes. We also attended Buddy Rhodes’ concrete countertop classes in San Francisco. In 2010, we invested in Garage Floor Coating.com, and doubled the number of installed coatings within the last year.

UR DECORATIVE CONCRETE SKILLS have evolved over the past
10 years. We can take a plain concrete floor to a simple one-color dye or stain to multi-color floors that can be cut into intricate patterns and radius cuts that are easily maintained and allergy free. Most driveways, patios, and other flatwork we tear out are completed in one day. Some of our recent accomplishments include a detailed 500 square-foot engraved/stained tribute at Werner Park’s main entrance and a 5,000 square-foot multi-colored/stained pattern driveway, walk, and steps at Warren Buffett’s home.

PSTREAM BREWING COMPANY OPENED in the fall of 1996 in the
former Firehouse Dinner Theater building in the Omaha’s Old Market. We named our restaurant Upstream because the word is the Indian translation for Omaha which means “upstream” or “against the current”. The first weeks were crazy, with a busy dining room and lines of guests waiting to get into the second-floor bar and pool room every Friday and Saturday night. From the beginning, we had a great following, and for that we want to thank everyone in Omaha for supporting our business! The idea for Upstream Brewing Company came from seeing Wynkoop Brewing Company of Denver, Colorado, which we eventually partnered with to get our business off the ground. Our mantra was Good Times, Real Beer and Great Food. We saw our business grow every year, and then bought our Denver partners out in 2002. By that time, we had added a rooftop deck and a party room and were using every bit of our 20,000-square-foot building. In 2004, we opened our West Omaha restaurant in a completely different market. We’ve had hundreds of terrific employees over the past 15 years, and it’s always fun to see them come back with kids in tow. Everything is in flux, as we’re always looking at ways to do things a little different or offer something new. And we couldn’t have done any of it without the support of all of the great guests that have come through the doors all these years. We’re looking forward to many more to come!

nation of any of them would cause an uprising, so they stay put. Here are just a few: Hot Artichoke & Asiago Cheese Dip with Garlic Beer Bread Toasts; Beer Braised Pot Roast; Beer Battered Fish & Chips, Grilled Chili Dusted Ribeye with Spicy Srirachi Mayonnaise; Grilled Chicken Penne Pasta with Red Pepper Cream; our Brewer’s Burger and Caramel Bread Pudding. We’re really picky when it comes to food. Everything is made from scratch and we don’t skimp on the quality. We use Omaha Steaks® beef, fresh (not frozen) chicken, fresh fish flown in several days a week and fresh vegetables. We also bake all of our breads and desserts on a daily basis in our on-site bakeries. All of this is done by a great kitchen staff, many of which have been with us for years.
