IDTOWN CROSSING WAS ONE of the first projects in the nation to be nominated for prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification under the US Green Building Council’s pilot Neighborhood Development Certification program. It’s the only project selected to participate in Nebraska or Iowa. LEED for Neighborhood Development recognizes projects that protect and enhance the overall health, natural environment and quality of life in their communities through: smart location and transportation linkage, environmental preservation, compact, complete and connected neighborhoods, and high-performance, green construction and technology.

concrete contractor for homebuilders. We took our first stamped concrete class by Stampcrete International from Ready Mixed concrete in 2002. PSTREAM BREWING COMPANY OPENED in the fall of 1996 in the

former Firehouse Dinner Theater building in the Omaha’s Old Market.

We named our restaurant Upstream because the word is the Indian translation for Omaha which means “upstream” or “against the current”. The first weeks were crazy, with a busy dining room and lines of guests waiting to get into the second-floor bar and pool room every Friday and Saturday night. From the beginning, we had a great following, and for that we want to thank everyone in Omaha for supporting our business!

The idea for Upstream Brewing Company came from seeing Wynkoop Brewing Company of Denver, Colorado, which we eventually partnered with to get our business off the ground. Our mantra was Good Times, Real Beer and Great Food. We saw our business grow every year, and then bought our Denver partners out in 2002. By that time, we had added a rooftop deck and a party room and were using every bit of our 20,000-square-foot building.

In 2004, we opened our West Omaha restaurant in a completely different market. We’ve had hundreds of terrific employees over the past 15 years, and it’s always fun to see them come back with kids in tow. Everything is in flux, as we’re always looking at ways to do things a little different or offer something new. And we couldn’t have done any of it without the support of all of the great guests that have come through the doors all these years. We’re looking forward to many more to come!
