Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Lynn Nottage, delivers a deeply complex and heightened theatrical experience in Clyde’s . I’m honored to be making my Omaha Community Playhouse directing debut telling this story alongside this company of extraordinary artists and theatre makers.
The characters in Clyde’s , all who’ve been through the system, display remarkable determination, candid self-reflection, and fight. Their journey of survival and second chances in the face of stigma and systemic barriers reveals their evolution and strengths as they recognize their inherent worth and potential.
I’m drawn to playwrights who are able to uncover themes and stories that are often not told. I hope this play ignites your curiosity and deepens your understanding of the challenges individuals with lived experience face daily, and most importantly, opens a space for empathy.
I’d like to thank and acknowledge local organizations who have graciously partnered with us during this production, including RISE, Anastasis Theatre Co and Fermented Felon.
In line with writing new chapters, it’s been three months since I relocated to Omaha to begin my new position as Associate Artistic Director and I want to sincerely thank you for the warm welcome, and most importantly, for your trust as we continue the important work ahead.

These are the final Prompter notes that I will write as the Omaha Community Playhouse’s executive director. It has been an honor to serve OCP and the Omaha community in this role for the past 6.5 years and to serve as OCP’s director of marketing and public relations for 5 years prior to that. The late Betsye Paragas welcomed me into the organization as an intern in early 2005, and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I will be forever indebted to Betsye for her mentorship and kindness and to the countless people who positively impacted me during my journey with this wonderful organization. Thank you for supporting me and OCP throughout the years.
Enjoy the show!

At Dundee Bank, we believe that supporting local builds a strong community foundation, boosts the economy, and strengthens small businesses.
That’s why w hen you bank with Dundee Bank, we’re proud to say that nearly 100% of your deposits are filtered back into the community through loans that support individuals, businesses, and neighborhood revitalizations.
RISE is the largest nonprofit organization in Nebraska focused solely on habilitative programming in prisons and reentry support. At RISE, transformation starts pre-release and continues post-release
Our inside/out model bridges incarceration to the community and considers all the critical steps in that journey.
We prepare and train people for each phase through intensive character development, employment readiness, job creation through entrepreneurship, family programming, and case management We transform people in the community by building awareness and empathy that leads to support and opportunity
These connections heal families, create employment pathways, and lower recidivism
Will you help us break the cycle?
5.1 million children have an incarcerated parent In Nebraska alone, 1 out of 10 children have a parent who has been or is currently in prison.
70% of those kids will follow in their footsteps The median age of RISE Graduates' first arrest? 11 years old.
38% of 2022 RISE Graduates were unemployed at the time of their arrest.
Having steady employment with a livable wage has been shown to decrease the likelihood of an individual returning to prison Additionally, individuals are less likely to commit crimes with stable, full-time jobs
RISE Graduates in the community have a median starting wage of $17/hour
