11TH ANNUAL
2026
For nearly 170 years, FNBO has been a committed force for positive change in Omaha and the lives of our customers.

JOHN EWING, JR.
Omaha is a city on the rise, evidenced in its changing skyline with the appropriately named “Beacon” tower on track for completion by the end of 2026.
We also are celebrating a new standout public library. We’re continuing exciting efforts like the $1 billion makeover of Eppley Airfield, the $200 million CHI Health Center addition, and a host of other projects that will provide more places for people to live, work, and play in our city.
We know from building our modern streetcar, with its once-in-a-century
upgrade to major utilities, that a project and city must stand on firm footing in order to rise. For the streetcar, we mean this quite literally: before we put in tracks, we install new water, sewer, electrical, and other below-ground utilities.
Similarly, a city must rise on a firm internal foundation. Our civic core must provide safety, inclusion, and a visible path toward forward progress—evidenced in affordable housing, competitive wages, and a higher quality of life.
So I invite you to join me in celebrating the “Year of the Neighbor,” an initiative we started to encourage kindness and respect. I also invite you to help keep
our talented young people here. And I encourage our companies to plant deep roots and expand and grow jobs and wages right here.
Project Beacon is a 44-story building, becoming Omaha’s tallest when complete. A testament to that height is the foundation upon which it sits—not just the concrete and steel that holds it up, but a people who match that strength with an innate goodness and restless energy.

Omaha is a vibrant place in which businesses thrive.
Year after year, national and international publications rank our city as one of the top places in the U.S., economically, and Greater Omaha produces more than $52 billion in goods and services annually.
Each industry in our metro has a “face,” or expert, who represents a top tier company with which to conduct business. Highlighting those experts is the purpose of this premier magazine by Omaha Publications. Our eleventh edition of FACES of Omaha showcases
more than 80 companies, and the featured enterprises represent the pinnacles of their fields for manifold reasons. One might exemplify teamwork; another has emerged as the innovator in their industry. Yet another has established itself as the business leader to whom the public has turned for years of exceptional service.
The team at Omaha Publications has curated each page in FACES of Omaha through a collaborative effort—the salespeople assessed the categories and assisted clients, the photographers captured the faces behind the businesses, the writers and editors created the copy,
and the designers combined images and text to create a visually elegant compendium that compellingly tells the story of Omaha’s business leaders.
The end result is a tribute to our industry leaders and their high standards of excellence.

HEATH MELLO, PRESIDENT AND CEO

Whether through leadership, diligent work, or volunteerism, the people of Omaha’s businesses are deeply invested in creating an environment where success is measured by more than just profits and growth—it’s measured by community prosperity.
The combination of economic vitality, entrepreneurial spirit, and a shared commitment to community makes Omaha a great place for businesses to grow and
thrive. As Omaha continues to expand as the heart of our one-million-population metro, its business community will remain a key driver of opportunity and innovation, ensuring the city’s bright future for decades to come.

Even after being in the fitness and nutrition business for 40-plus years, former competitive bodybuilder Todd Smith seeks to be even better.
“There’s this Japanese word I use: kaizen,” he said. “It means to constantly strive for improvement in everything that we do: strive to get better, strive to have a higher standard, strive to be a better leader, strive to be a better coach, strive to be a better trainer.”
Smith, still incredibly fit as he enters his 60s, has established a niche in helping mature clients improve their health and wellness.
“We want to provide our clients with the greatest value possible…really understanding that from the moment our client walks in the door, we have to be ‘on,’” he said. “100% of our focus is on the value we provide our customers. It’s never about sales; nobody gets paid on commission…it’s exclusively on the art of the session and making sure that we can make the biggest impact upon each one of our clients at every visit.”

ico Marasco says real estate is more than a transaction. He believes it’s about making one of life’s biggest decisions as seamless and stress-free as possible for his clients. Continuing a family tradition started by his late father, Ralph Marasco, a prominent figure in Omaha’s real estate scene, Marasco embodies a legacy of excellence and personalized service.
His results speak for themselves, with the majority of his thriving business driven by client referrals and positive online reviews. Whether it’s a residential resale or new construction, Marasco effectively
manages both aspects of the process with care and expertise, upholding his clients’ trust as a licensed professional with a keen understanding of the local market. He also deeply understands that buying or selling a home is one of the most pivotal decisions a person can make for themselves and their family.
“Omaha isn’t just where I do business, it’s where I’m raising my family,” said Marasco, who welcomed daughter Quinn in 2025 with his wife, Brittany. “When I help someone find their home, it’s not business. It’s personal.”

The Olson Group will soon be rebranding as Patriot, but the local personalized services offered from trusted advisors with decades of experience will not be changing, said Chief Executive Officer Julie Nelson. The team will carry forward a longstanding client-first approach as they work with companies to develop customized group insurance and retirement planning benefits.
“We started as a family-owned business, and that mindset still guides how we serve our clients,” Nelson said. “Since joining Patriot Growth Insurance Services in 2020, we’ve expanded our
national footprint and resources, allowing us to deliver sophisticated business risk, insurance, and employee benefits solutions—without losing the personal, hands-on service our clients
The team stays in the know about factors affecting the benefits sector and how clients may be affected, Nelson added, and every recommendation is made with a sharp focus on risk tolerance, talent attraction and retention, and ensuring the right competitive fit within the client’s industry.

Opera Omaha’s Holland Community Opera Fellowship brings the arts into the fabric of daily life across the Omaha metro, not simply as performance, but as a creative practice built through relationship, trust, and collaboration.
Launched in 2017, the Fellowship places community-focused teaching artists in Omaha to listen, create, and work alongside local organizations. Fellows partner with people of all ages and backgrounds, using the elements of opera, including music, movement, drama, storytelling, design, and visual art, as tools for expression, connection, and discovery.
The work begins with the community partner. Rather than arriving with a fixed program, Opera Omaha asks what each organization hopes to nurture, strengthen, or explore. From there, Fellows co-create workshops and projects shaped by the people in the room.
This integrated approach is what makes the Fellowship distinctive. Opera is not treated as something distant or reserved for the stage. It becomes a shared vocabulary for creativity. A musical exercise can invite memory and laughter. A storytelling prompt can build confidence. A design project can help someone imagine home, comfort, and belonging.
the Holland Community Opera Fellowship, Opera Omaha affirms that creativity already belongs to everyone.

“Our goal has always been to bring a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to every project and to create an experience that is just as strong as the final result,” Hunt said. “As we continue to grow, we remain committed to building the right team, fostering strong partnerships, and delivering projects that positively impact the communities around us.”
It’s resulted in rapid growth for ELEVATE, which brought both exciting opportunities and valuable lessons, Hunt said. The team has delivered a variety of commercial projects across the region plus increased its involvement in industry and community initiatives, including launching the Nebraska chapter of Contractors, Closers & Connections to bring together professionals across commercial real estate and construction.

“This year, our focus has been on strengthening our foundation so we can continue growing the right way,” she said. “We’ve taken time to ensure we have the right team in place with people who truly align with our core values and culture.”

Commercial cleaning firm Sparkling Klean provides a wide range of services— cleaning and janitorial, specialized green cleaning, maintenance, disaster recovery, carpet care—to clients of all sizes from offices and educational institutions to medical facilities and industrial environments.
The company has been in business for more than four decades, but owners Gary and Diane Wieker don’t credit Sparkling Klean’s success just to the high-quality cleaning, equipment, supplies, and green chemicals it uses, or the techniques its experienced team has perfected over time. They say it’s really all about the people.
“People as in our employees, people as in our customers, people as in our community,” Diane said. “For more than 42 years, we’ve quietly demonstrated our excellence, and that is built on consistency, care, and a commitment to people.”
That, in turn, builds trust and confidence.
“We’ve been the same since we started. We just follow up on everything and make sure everybody’s been taken care of,” Gary said. “You get to know them; they get to be part of the family.”

ingman’s Collision Center has been a community staple since 1996, providing auto body repair services around the city and adding Dingman’s Mechanical Repair near 120th St. and West Maple Road in 2017. This year the team expanded even further with a fifth Dingman’s Collision location in Gretna.
“We’re excited to be in a very fast-growing area,” said Travis Dingman, who’s in the family-owned business’s second generation of leadership. “We are part of the community and have grown with it. I think there’s a big trust factor with working with a locally owned business
that people are familiar with…We’ve been here for decades at this point, and with a world where it seems like there’s new names on buildings all the time, we’ve been pretty steady.”
Dingman’s Collision Center has been chosen as Best of Omaha in the Auto Body Repair category by satisfied clients every year since 2005.
“We never blur the lines of who is most important, who our customer actually is, and working for them and advocating for them through the process,” Dingman said.

Dermatology involves the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the skin, hair, and nails. Increasingly, it also focuses on prevention, said Dr. Mary Finnegan, who leads Braddock Finnegan Helget Dermatology in partnership with Dr. Blake Helget.
“There is quite a bit of data showing that procedures such as fractionated laser resurfacing can prevent skin cancer and pre-cancer,” she said, adding that it’s not just about sun exposure. Immunotherapy and chemotherapy can also increase skin cancer risk. “I consider melanoma a young person’s
disease. We see it in the elderly as well, but it’s one of the highest incidences of cancers in younger people.”
The practice sees people of all ages and offers patient-centered features such as convenient parking and an efficient check-in process, and often can accommodate same-day or next-day appointments. Plus, the staff tries to schedule patients for multiple procedures in a single appointment when possible.
“We do a lot of layering of procedures,” she said. “You can have down time all at the same time for different procedures that have different purposes.”

his year is very special for us because Cobalt is celebrating 80 years in the communities we serve,” said Robin Larsen, CEO of Cobalt Credit Union.
“We’ve gone from being a local credit union to one that still feels personal and community-driven, but now offers digital tools, competitive products, and strong service expectations.”
Cobalt is proud to help community members achieve financial literacy, build credit, and become first-time homeowners. “I have heard so many stories from people who went to a bank for a loan but were turned down and we gave
them a chance,” Larsen said. “When we can help someone become a homeowner after being a renter for decades, that’s very rewarding.”
“We need to do a better job of telling our story,” Larsen admitted, “because some people still think you have to be military-related to join Cobalt Credit Union. We are a community-based credit union, and membership is open to everyone in the areas we are in. You can join Cobalt as a member owner by opening a $5 share account.”

ino’s Storage has 16 metro locations offering modern self-storage facilities including indoor and climate-controlled bays and outdoor vehicle space. The company has recently expanded farther north with a facility in Blair and has begun offering contractor bays as well, owner Lisa Paladino said, and she’s always open to additional expansion or evolution.
One differentiator from other storage companies is that clients can connect with property managers in person or over the phone to get information on the right storage solutions based on the composition and volume of their belongings.
“It’s that personal touch,” Paladino said. “We’ll be there, we’ll talk to you.”
Dino’s was founded by Paladino’s late husband, Dave, in 1998. She’s carried on not only his love of bull mastiffs—represented in the company logo as well as the inflatables seen at Dino’s locations, like “Gino Paladino” pictured above— but the Dino’s team has also continued his support of local youth sports and other activities in the area.

“We just love being involved in the community,” Paladino said. “We love Omaha.”

uman trafficking is happening wherever you are,” said Stephanie Olson, CEO and founder of The Set Me Free Project. “We’re Nebraska nice, and we think it can’t happen here, but Nebraska is a hot spot for human trafficking.”
“Trafficking doesn’t always look the way we think it does,” Olson said. “The majority of trafficked individuals are never kidnapped. They know their trafficker before they are trafficked, often through online gaming and social networking. Many people don’t even recognize that they’re being trafficked, and only about 2% of trafficked individuals are recovered and restored.”
“That’s why prevention is so important to me,” Olson explained. “If we can stop human trafficking before it starts, that’s everything. Our focus is on education.”
The Set Me Free Project provides engaging and interactive in-person and online curriculums for students and adults. Topics include trafficking of sex and labor as well as social media safety, consent, and healthy relationships.
“We ask a lot of questions,” Olson said. “We’re not lecturing. We also bring a lot of humor into our curriculum and training.”

Molly Blazek serves as a guardian and a conservator for vulnerable adults, so she understands the significance of these responsibilities firsthand. She’s also an attorney whose law firm, Blazek Law Group, focuses on guardianships and conservatorships. Additionally, she serves on the Nebraska Supreme Court’s Commission on Guardianships and Conservatorships.
Blazek’s unique and multifaceted perspective has made clear to her the growing demand for more local legal resources for families needing guardianships and conservatorships. It has also reinforced her decision to add more attorneys to her legal team in recent years.
“We’re growing to match community need for attorneys in this field,” she said. “We’re also expanding our resources and service levels so that we can provide accessibility to more Nebraskans.”
To help meet families where they are in guardianship, Blazek Law has different levels of service and support so legal help is affordable and accessible. The firm created the Guardian Connect Now platform, including a Facebook group for connection and information, with training videos and free downloads. The team also created the Nebraska Guardianship DIY guide (guardianconnectnow.com/diy), available for free for qualifying families.
Blazek Law’s weekly legal clinic is a good place for community members to take the first step.
“From there, we can direct a lot of people,” Blazek said. “We have attorneys, we have paraprofessional staff, we have the case specialists who are doing the guardianship and conservatorship work, we have a wellness lead, we have a legal lead for the case specialist…different specialties come to the legal clinic weekly.”
Guardianship and conservatorship can involve complex, time-consuming, and highly emotional legal processes, but Blazek emphasizes that the human element is always at the forefront.
“We can provide such peace in a time that feels uncertain,” she said. “We’re so full-service that we can take this off of someone’s plate and make it very, very easy for them to step into a caregiving role. We are really good at what we do, and we really care about the people that we work for, including the vulnerable adults; you can see the heart in our work.”

President Zach Stephens says his company has perpetually operated with a goal of continuous improvement.

Over a century into Max I. Walker as a company and with its uniform rental service division now more than 50 years old, “We have unique experience in cleaning anything and everything and doing it at an extremely high level,” Casey Walker said.
From daily-use work shirts and pants to flame-resistant, high-visibility, food-processing, and health care uniforms, the rental program provides professionally maintained workwear tailored to safety and compliance requirements. Services include weekly pickup and delivery, professional laundering, repairs and replacements, and RFID
garment tracking so clients’ employees always have clean, compliant uniforms ready for work.
The company is also continuing a long tradition of serving the community. Last year, Max I. Walker introduced Coats for Kids in partnership with Project Intentional.
“It was our inaugural year and we really blew it out of the water,” Chris Walker said. “Our goal was a few hundred, and we wound up with just over 1,200 coats for kids. It was nice because it aligned both divisions of our company; we collected from the retail stores and our uniform customers.”

Buoyant Family Services
Counseling may have changed its logo, but it continues to provide a wide range of services for adults, children, and families with a specialization in treating clients who have experienced trauma. The practice offers individual and family therapy; intensive outpatient treatment for addiction recovery as well as co-occuring evaluations for persons living with both a substance abuse disorder and mental health disorder; medication management; mental status evaluations; supervised visitation to keep a child safe and support the parent/child relationship; and other mental health services from a compassionate practitioner.
Native Kenyan Dr. Betty Kola, who founded Buoyant Family Services Counseling in 2017, embraces multiculturalism and promotes personal empowerment. Kola also emphasized that clients can expect an atmosphere of acceptance and determination.
“We are down-to-earth. We make it real,” she said. “When people come in here, their self-esteem is low. They feel like they’re a failure. But we acknowledge people by their name, not by the mistakes that they’ve made. So, they feel we really treat them like they’re going to their own house.”

ProsperSpark’s highly experienced professional consulting team supports more than 600 clients in the U.S. and Canada, using technology to create and automate business tools, systems, and processes around how each client’s team works, what their goals are, and what will actually make sense day to day, said CEO and owner Brandon Zobel.
“We’re building solutions on established platforms and using established tools that have been around for a long time,” he said, adding that ProsperSpark offers multiple engagement options to accommodate a single project, ongoing
partnership, or something in between. “There are several ways to work with us to make our services affordable.”
The goal is simple, Zobel said: Help teams save time, reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and make things run more smoothly. ProsperSpark brings both technical skill and a consulting mindset to the table.
“Better systems should make work feel clearer, not more complicated,” he said. “This is not just about knowing the tools; it is about knowing how to guide a project, communicate clearly, and build solutions that support the business as a whole.”

Becki Jelinek-Carter joined The Hills Montessori nearly 14 years ago, and now she is getting to experience the joy of seeing even the littlest ones from her first years approach adulthood.
“One of the very first kids to ever enroll as a newborn is now a high school student involved in multiple activities—show choir, band—and doing amazing things. He’s very talented,” she said. “Our first round of The Hills Montessori graduates are doing great things in their schools, their community, and their families.”
Jelinek-Carter said she’s not surprised at the success of the alumni, who are demonstrating the benefits of an early start in Montessori programming. The Hills Montessori’s two centers serve children ages six weeks to six years under the Montessori philosophy, developed more than a century ago by Italian physician Maria Montessori as a holistic, self-paced, and experiential approach that builds a solid foundation for lifelong learning. Children are given freedom to learn at an individual pace under the direction of compassionate teachers who serve as facilitators to learning.

hort-term rehabilitation services at Old Mill Rehabilitation are designed to help patients recover quickly, with typical stays lasting 20 to 25 days. The focus is on providing the care and support needed for individuals to regain strength, mobility, and independence without long-term residency.
The facility has seen strong outcomes, particularly with post-stroke recovery. Its therapy team consists of dedicated, long-term employees rather than contract workers, creating consistency
in care and a deeper connection with patients. Many team members have been part of the organization since it opened in 2014, bringing experience and commitment to helping patients achieve the best possible results.
Old Mill Rehabilitation also maintains a strong partnership with Creighton University’s physical therapy program. Students completing clinical rotations at the facility gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to patient care, often discovering a passion for short-term rehabilitation as a long-term career path.
The facility itself is spacious and welcoming, featuring well-equipped areas for physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Each patient stays in a private suite that includes a bathroom and shower, ensuring both comfort and dignity throughout the recovery process.

e realized very early on that we had to create and implement processes that would guarantee people’s success,” said Todd Lavigne, owner of American Fence Company. “Most of our managers start out as installers and then work their way up to foreman, superintendent, and sales rep before being promoted into management. In every one of our branches, there’s a huge poster that lists our six core values and explains each one. We teach it, we profess it, and we talk about it every day in some way.”
Lavigne’s father started the company in 1967. Lavigne taught psychology at the university level and then started working for his dad in 1994, when the company had 11 employees. Today, American Fence Company has 17 branches and is one of the top five fence contractors in the U.S.
“We’ve grown not only horizontally but vertically,” Lavigne said. “We have an access control division, and we manufacture a patented product called PalmSHIELD. Our manufacturing and fabrication capacities allow us to do jobs that other fence companies can’t do.”

C.O.R.E. PHYSICAL THERAPY & SPORTS
Claire Rathjen, who owns C.O.R.E. Physical Therapy & Sports Performance with her husband, Dr. Mark Rathjen, emphasizes that every patient’s plan of care is completely individualized. It’s probably the most significant advantage of being a locally owned, independent practice.
“Whether we are their first stop or they’ve started someplace else and ended up coming here through word of mouth, it’s that more personalized approach,” she said. “We’re not owned by a large company. We don’t have a whole bunch of non-revenue-producers who are making decisions for us; literally every single provider has the ability to make the decisions
that are best for the patient based on their interaction with them.”
C.O.R.E. provides the latest researchbased and cutting-edge treatment programs and interventions for physical therapy, which can also be customized.
“We’ve had a couple of individual sports reach out to us and say, ‘Hey, can you guys do some programming for our specific athletes, or can we do some smallgroup training?” Rathjen said. “We’re always looking to expand that in terms of the patient feedback.”

Founder Matt Fatka said customers choose Highway Signing for a simple reason: “We solve problems.”
“Whether it’s traffic control, pavement markings, or any roadway safety need, we bring experience, responsiveness, and a safety-first mindset to every project,” he explained. “Contractors know they can rely on our team to protect their crews and the traveling public. We prioritize communication, accountability, and long-term relationships.”
Highway Signing has grown since the 1990s to more than 100 employees between its local operations and
Kansas sister company C-Hawkk. The two operate as part of a larger platform while maintaining local leadership and community ties. Highway Signing recently moved to a 16-acre property with expanded space for its growing team and to better serve its customers.
“Highway Signing has operated under current leadership since 2007. We are also proud to have Liz Baloun serving as our new CEO, helping lead the next phase of growth,” Fatka said. “Highway Signing is built on people. As we grow, our focus remains the same: support our employees, serve our customers with excellence, and keep our communities safe.”

Orthodontics is a dental specialty focused on diagnosing, preventing, and correcting misaligned teeth and jaw irregularities, but treatment typically has an effect beyond a person’s smile— from enhancing sleep quality through improved airway to enhancing digestion and even reducing the risk of chronic health issues linked to gum disease. Often associated with teenagers, treatment is actually effective for patients of all ages, said Daniel Chartrand, D.M.D, and new innovations are emerging all the time.
“We are doing expanders on adult patients with what is called a MARPE [MiniscrewAssisted Rapid Palatal Expansion]. It’s
very airway-focused,” he said. “As far as other technologies, we work with 3D metal-printed custom-made appliances for patients as well.”
Chartrand, who honed his orthodontic skills through advanced training with the U.S. Air Force, took over an existing practice that became Chartrand Orthodontics in 2023. He’s now eager to give back.
“We’re doing more community events and getting more involved in the community as well,” he said. “That’s a main priority in addition to providing the best care that we can for our patients.”

hen Dave Barry opened Dave’s Cakes three years ago, he had no idea he would be making a birthday cake for Nick Jonas a year later.
“The Jonas Brothers were scheduled to do a concert at the CHI arena on Nick’s birthday,” Dave recalled. “They found us on social media and contacted us on Thursday for a Saturday delivery and setup at the concert. We took the top three tiers off this five-tier cake and put it on a platter, and we were on stage with the cake while 15,000 people in the arena sang happy birthday to Nick. It was something else.”
Dave has worked in the cake industry for two decades. When he started his own business post-COVID, he had no idea it would grow so rapidly that it would expand into a second bay within three years. He attributes his success to three pillars: quality, affordability, and a smile. Speaking of smiles, his favorite part of the business is seeing the joy on a child’s face at the sight of their custom-made birthday cake.

Many patients come to 4 Paths Acupuncture after other options have not worked. Cory Nyenhuis, Doctor of Acupuncture, often sees neuropathy patients dealing with pain, numbness, and trouble getting around.
“We have a really good process for treating hard-to-treat cases,” he said. “Patients suffering from neuropathy have mobility issues, a mix of pain and numbness, and everything in between. We can calm those symptoms down and get it under control so they can enjoy their lives again.”
The clinic sees diabetic and chemo-induced neuropathy, along with
neuropathy without a clear cause. Patients also come in for chronic back and knee pain. Many have already tried physical therapy, medication, or surgery. “We’re the last hope with the best results,” Nyenhuis said.
He said the goal is to help people get back to everyday life. For one patient, that may mean walking through the grocery store again. For another, it may mean standing in the kitchen, sitting in the car, or moving through the day with less discomfort.
Patients also comment on the clinic’s upbeat atmosphere. Nyenhuis said the team is serious about care while keeping the experience positive.

“We also have beef, we have chicken, we have sushi,” she said. “We are very passionate about what we do. We innovate…we keep bringing new items to the menu. That way people can come to us and there’s something new every time they come in.”
The extensive menu has been successful. Since its 2017 start, the company has already grown to three locations. In 2024, two franchises, La Michoacana Plus (featuring ice cream) and Con Azúcar Café (featuring coffee), joined the Isla Del Mar West location. And there’s more ahead, Gonzalez added.
“We are planning on expanding, but want to do it as a franchise,” she said. “I think the best way to do it right now will be finding people who are interested in the brand—we have several people—and just go from there.”

have practiced law in eastern Nebraska for over twenty years – and compared with other metropolitan areas, the Omaha metro has a very high per-capita DUI rate,” attorney Bob Williams said. “The main reason is that our city is very spread out and public transit doesn’t extend to many of the places where people live and work.”
“It’s not lost on me that much of the work I do is for people that have created their own problems,” Williams acknowledged, “but my goal is always to protect our clients’ rights and to ensure that everyone involved is doing their job, including law enforcement, prosecutors and judges.”
In Nebraska, there are two different entities that can control driving privileges: the Department of Motor Vehicles and the State Court system. Each has its own implications for DUIs and their own rules that can simultaneously affect a single person on a given DUI case.
“Most of the cases that I take on are resolved in a very favorable fashion for the client, who often has conditions that include alcohol and substance abuse,” Williams said. “I am very adept at understanding co-occurring illnesses, including the nuances of DSM-5 and mental health Axis-1 diagnoses.”
“I pride myself on consistent communication with my clients and complex legal planning, knowing that no two cases are created equal. Sometimes, truly listening to my client’s story is the best place to start.”

RMinded Consulting CEO and Chief Human Resources Officer Keele Taylor MA, PHR, SHRM-CP, said that the HRM in “HRMinded” emphasizes human resources management.
“‘HRMinded’ is actually a concept or a mindset, the adjective describing proactive leadership and ensuring that your workplace and your most valuable assets—which are your people—are protected and cared for,” she explained.
Taylor’s HR expertise stretches back more than two decades, but she was inspired to go into consulting during
the COVID-19 pandemic, which created near-universal workplace upheaval.
“It was perfect timing in light of something that was so dark, and I do feel like what I do is help to turn on the light in the workplace,” she said.
Taylor is not your typical HR consultant. She primarily serves small and medium-sized businesses with intensive support for everything from onboarding to compliance.
Taylor’s experiences from the front lines of corporate America inspired her to fearlessly and unapoligetically write,
“Don’t Make Me Use my HR Voice”, a book about the significance of HR and how having a strategic HR partner for your business is critical for navigating today’s disrupted, changing workplace and workforce.

Yes, that’s criminal defense attorney Michael J. Fitzpatrick’s actual motorcycle in the photo. He has ridden his Harley Davidson Street Glide to more than half the states in the continental U.S. and has been a Sturgis regular for 15 years. According to Fitzpatrick, travelling the country on a bike has something in common with his chosen profession of being a defense attorney- both endeavors are not for the faint of heart.
With over a quarter century experience of practicing law, not including the years
he spent as a police officer before going to law school, Fitzpatrick has pretty much seen it all. A former public defender and prosecutor, Fitzpatrick left working for the State and established Fitzpatrick Law in 2005. Since then, he has travelled all over the State in pursuit of justice for his clients. He does all things criminal, both State and Federal charges, including drug, sexual assault and murder cases.
Mr. Fitzpatrick has a statewide reputation for excellence. He is very selective on his clientele and only agrees on taking cases that he feels he can help the client.

Everyone uses their garage a little bit differently, said Theresa Nelson, a Garage Living franchisee with her husband, Chad. But people often try to organize a garage in stages, which may result in a hodgepodge of mismatched containers and a lack of cohesiveness. Others accumulate items over time or use the garage as a catch-all, which can lead to clutter or even chaos.
So, whether the owner wants a workshop, abundant storage, an automotive maintenance area, or even a hangout, Garage Living’s customized solutions can turn any garage into a functional,
organized—even beautiful—space. The Nelsons’ locally owned and operated franchise emphasizes a personal commitment to care for the customer.
“Everything that we install is designed and developed by Garage Living, for Garage Living, with our own manufacturers. We’re constantly working with our design and development team to come out with new and innovative products…Basically, our developers listen to the franchise owners on what their customers want and need,” Nelson said. “There are a lot of new things, exciting products, coming out this year.”

“Prescription medications are about 30 to 40% effective in treating conditions like anxiety and depression, but they come with side effects such as sexual dysfunction and emotional numbness,” said Tim Brady, owner/operator of Mind
& Body Wellness Center. “Our protocol combines ketamine infusions with talk therapy. When you gain awareness of a situation and have the flexibility to handle it differently, that’s a game-changer.”
“Our chronic pain clients are typically stuck in a pain-depression cycle of one feeding into the other worsening symptoms.” Brady said. Ketamine has a unique ability to shatter that loop. As pain decreases, so does the depression which allows the body to feel better. Mind & Body Wellness has ketamine coaches that help facilitate the entire process. “By maintaining a proper ‘Set & Setting’, utilizing our integration
approach, and individually curating the medicine, we see patients reach their goals of increased clarity and decreased pain. It is really beautiful to witness!”

or four generations, our family has been raising Angus cattle north of Holdrege, Nebraska,” said Justin Klute of Nebraska Star Beef. In 2002, the Klute family began supplying natural, humanely raised beef to Whole Foods, and in 2010 they created their own brand, Nebraska Star Beef.
“We ship to consumers and provide wholesale services, but the biggest chunk of our business involves corporate gifting,” Klute explained. “We help companies who want to reward their employees and their customers during the holidays. We can handle anything from five packages to 250 packages and beyond.”
“Our focus is on delivering premium beef,” Klute said. “Our cattle are on a finished ration for a minimum of 180 days to make sure our beef is well-marbled, and we age all of our steaks for a minimum of 35 days so they’re tender.”
In addition to being stewards of their cattle, Nebraska Star Beef strives to minimize environmental impact. They are the first open-air feedyard in the United States to operate a biogas plant that captures and converts methane into natural gas.

Nine years after entering the mortgage industry, Jack Shotbolt partnered with another mortgage broker to form what would become the largest mortgage company in Omaha.
“We were massive, and we had a lot of employees,” Shotbolt recalled, “but I missed interacting directly with clients. In 2020 I left that company and formed Shotbolt Mortgage Corporation. Every client works directly with me, and I handle 100% of borrower communications.
I put a high priority on getting back to people in a timely manner, I make myself available on nights and weekends, and I
adapt to the unique needs of each client. I’m much happier, and my volumes are better than ever.”
With almost 400 five-star reviews on social media, Shotbolt Mortgage Corporation clearly meets and exceeds clients’ expectations. “Closing on time is important to me,” Shotbolt emphasized. “I haven’t missed a close date in 14 years. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small loan or a big loan; I treat everybody with the same level of respect and give them the same level of communication and availability.”

rtificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how people search online. Traditional search relies on keywords, but AI is shifting toward more conversational, intent-based queries. As a result, search engines now pull information from multiple sources and highlight a select few websites as trusted citations.
We’ve seen that when our clients are included in those AI-generated results, it leads to a significant lift in rankings, traffic, and ultimately conversions.
To adapt to this shift, Omaha SEO Company has developed its own Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)
strategies, along with proprietary AI software for analyzing search trends, content gaps, and citation opportunities. This allows us to position our clients not just for traditional rankings, but for visibility within AI-driven platforms like Perplexity, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude.
The key takeaway is that AI visibility still depends on a strong SEO foundation. You can’t simply “feed” content into AI platforms; your website still needs to demonstrate authority, relevance, and trust to be selected as a source.
With nearly 15 years in business in Omaha and additional experience in Florida, we’ve seen the evolution
of search firsthand. As AI continues to grow, it’s important to work with a team that understands both traditional SEO and how it connects to emerging technologies.

oday, security is not just an IT issue,” said Trish Cody, Vice President of Coulee Tech Omaha. “It is a business risk that affects operations, reputation, and client trust. The question is whether you are prepared to detect a threat, contain it, recover from it, and protect the trust you have built.”
When a new client partners with us, the team starts by understanding how the business operates, where its risks are, and which systems are essential to keeping the organization running.
That includes evaluating cybersecurity, compliance, remote access, network infrastructure, firewalls, and more.
“Cybersecurity is not one product or one checklist,” Cody continued. “It is a layered strategy.”
Coulee Tech Omaha is 100% veteran-led and 100% woman-led, a distinction that stands out in the cybersecurity industry. “We bring technical expertise, practical experience, and a deep sense of responsibility to every client relationship,”

here’s a real difference between a lawyer who explains risk and a lawyer who helps you close the deal,” said Tom Horgan, Managing Partner and Founder of Horgan Law. “Our clients are builders. They’re steering. We’re the engine and the gas. Definitely not the brake.
Horgan built the firm to feel like an inside hire, not an outside vendor, and to compete with shops three times its size.
“I’ve bet on myself and started a company. Most lawyers haven’t. Most clients come to Horgan Law because they’re tired of
being just another file number. The firm operates on a simple premise that clients should never wonder if their lawyer is paying attention or cares.”
The firm has invested heavily in technology to back it up. “We use it to deliver work product at a price that makes sense. Nobody else in Omaha is doing what we’re doing.”
Horgan also has a passion for Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) law. “Everyone in NIL is protecting something. I’m there to protect the kid.”
Outside the office, it’s faith, family, and a few rounds of golf, in that order. Horgan and his wife Mary are active parishioners and school parents at St. Patrick’s in Elkhorn, where they chaired the annual SPIRIT 2026 fundraiser.

hen Kelly Davis founded VALO Wellness Spa, she envisioned something Omaha hadn’t experienced before: a Scandinavian-inspired wellness sanctuary where luxury meets intention, and self-care becomes truly transformative.
“I wanted to create a space where our community could genuinely escape,” Davis explains. “Everything is designed with your well-being in mind—from the treatments to the experience surrounding them.”
Beyond premium facials, massages, and body treatments performed by licensed estheticians and expert therapists, VALO
features a fireside lounge and state-ofthe-art Wellness Playground with an infrared sauna, Celluma LED therapy, halotherapy salt room, and PEMF technology. It’s a mid-day retreat for some, a monthly wellness ritual for others.

VALO’s newly launched e-commerce platform makes the spa the exclusive U.S. online retailer for Sweden-based Maria Åkerberg, a coveted clean beauty line.
The restructured membership program offers two tiers: VALO Insider provides discounts on services and products, while VALO Elite—the premier option— includes monthly service credits, enhanced savings, exclusive perks, and unlimited Wellness Playground access.
“We focus on the guest experience at every touchpoint,” Davis emphasizes. “We want every visit to feel elevated, personal, and genuinely restorative.”

Since 2001, Prime Secured has disrupted the security industry, recognizing the early shift to IP video surveillance while others stayed with CCTV, and embracing cybersecurity before it became priority. Now, 25 years later, Prime Secured continues to lead as a physical security and managed IT partner by focusing not just on technology, but on the organizations behind it.
Rather than positioning as a provider, they act as a business partner, using technology and data to drive measurable value and decision-making.
“Lately, we’ve noticed people are looking for a clearer return on their investment in cyber and physical security,” said Jamie Bumgardner, President and CEO. “They want to understand how it impacts business and how systems can become production tools, not cost centers.”
“We don’t see ourselves as a provider, but as a Technology Success Partner,” added Steve Kanne, COO and Founding Partner.
“Our clients trust us as an extension of their team providing proactive insights on how they use technology.”

rust is more than just part of our name—it’s our primary core value,” said Nick Wilwerding, president and CEO of Bridges Trust. “Our business is built on the trust we receive from our clients and the trust we’ve earned within the community.”
Founded in 1945 by the first registered investment advisor in Nebraska, Marvin Bridges, the company instituted its trust division in 1993 to meet a growing need for trust services among families with multigenerational wealth. Today, Bridges Trust has become the largest independent trust company in Nebraska.
It also offers trust services based out of South Dakota, a state that has attractive trust provisions.
“From a business perspective, we’ve always been focused on managing the wealth of families over multiple generations,” Wilwerding said. “We provide a heightened level of care and expertise that we believe puts us head and shoulders above the competition in terms of what we’re able to deliver. We make a priority of reinvesting in our people in order to make sure that we’re able to meet the growing needs and expectations of our clients.”

ur family office team builds custom strategies because no two families are alike,” said Nick Wilwerding, president and CEO of Bridges Trust. “Each family has unique objectives and considerations, and it’s incumbent upon us to understand that and to be of service to them.”
“We offer services that include bill paying, property management, asset evaluation and assessment, and family education. We’ve even managed our clients’ private planes and handled security for their properties. Our clients have been blown
away by our ability to meet their unique needs, since we are solely focused on serving our clients and meeting them where they’re at.”
It takes a special type of professional to meet the needs of high-net worth families, Wilwerding acknowledged. “The members of our family office team deal with complex financial situations and unique family dynamics,” he said. “This type of career appeals to highly motivated, highly professional team members who are focused on serving clients while also experiencing growth both personally and professionally within a fast-paced environment.”

e’ve been in Omaha for over 16 years, and we make our own pasta, sausage, aiolis, and dressings,” said Dean Leisman, owner of Pitch Pizzeria. “We hand-roll our meatballs and have stayed focused on scratch cuisine. We do pizza by the slice, a quarter of a pie so you can enjoy what you want.
With two restaurants in Omaha and two more in Scottsdale, Arizona, Pitch has developed a loyal following. “People feel comfortable coming in alone because they always know somebody that is creating the Pitch experience,” Leisman said.
In addition to scratch cuisine, Pitch offers a well-stocked “Booze Bank” featuring Napa wine as well as private barrels of bourbon, tequila, and rye. “If you need to buy somebody a birthday gift, you can get them a really cool bottle of wine or bourbon.”
“A couple of years ago I created pizza kits with a par-baked crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings,” Leisman said. “The whole premise of the pizza kits was to help families make dinner together. We turned the pizza kits into fundraising, and now we do fundraisers for charities and schools and organizations.”

Efficient snow removal after a major snowfall requires planning and preparation, according to Jason Porto, president and founder of Ground Builders Landscaping Company.
First, it’s important to be aware that a storm is on the way. “We subscribe to advanced weather tracking that gives us a much more detailed forecast than most people get,” Porto said.
Second, sufficient equipment and manpower must be available to handle snow removal quickly and efficiently. “We have worked hard to build up the
resources to make sure we can always perform,” Porto said. “We have 60 people on staff and another 150 from our service partners during an active snow event. Our fleet includes 30 to 40 trucks, and with our service partners, about 60 to 80 trucks are on the road.”
Third, effective snow removal involves communicating with clients before and during a snow event. “We send a notification to our clients about what’s on the way, and we maintain 24/7 availability during snow events so they can reach our dispatch team and communicate about their emergency snow removal.”

Board-certified plastic surgeon
Dr. Nagi T. Ayoub established Westfield Plastic Surgery Center decades ago, and the patient-centered practice has built an outstanding reputation in the community backed by many referrals and positive reviews. But Ayoub has recently taken a big step forward. In March, he performed his first surgical procedure in one of the practice’s two new operating room surgical suites.
“It’s exciting times. It’s a crossroads. It’s a dream in the making and implementation of a business plan that started 10 years,” Ayoub said.
The practice has also added a pre-operative room and three recovery rooms occupying 3,300 square foot in the same facility.
“It is an extension of our office, basically,” Ayoub said. “This provides more control over our care of our patients and to be able to respond to their needs more quickly than if we were at a surgery center that didn’t align necessarily with our mission and goals.”

Everything, he added, continues to be focused on the patient. “It provides a patient experience that is memorable, safe, and comfortable.”
