Defenders of Freedom Veterans Day Parade

For the 20th consecutive year, Bellevue and its residents will salute our nation’s veterans and active duty personnel with the state’s official Veterans Day Parade through Olde Towne.

The Nov. 9 parade begins at 10 a.m. on the west end of Mission Avenue and proceeds east past the reviewing stand to Franklin Street, where the parade turns

north to its conclusion at Washington Park.

As usual, the winner of the Bellevue Public Schools essay contest will read his or her essay at the start of the parade.

The Defenders of Freedom Nebraska’s Official Veterans Day Parade is sponsored by the Greater Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce.

Gretna tribute Gretna’s Veterans Day dinner will be at 6 p.m. at Gretna American Legion Post 216, 11690 S. 216th St. All active, inactive and retired military personnel eat free and the public eats for freewill donation. The event begins with a Quilts of Valor presentation from 4 to 5 p.m. and a social hour from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by dinner.

La Vista’s Salute to Veterans The La Vista Community Foundation will host a Salute to Veterans Dinner Nov. 7 at the Embassy Suites Conference Center. More than 600 veterans from different branches of the military attended last year’s event. One veteran will be honored as the Salute the Veteran recipient. Doors will open at 5 p.m., the program will begin at 6 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:15.
