FAMILY OF COMPONENTS

The following Cabana system is designed to provide a customizable and luxurious relaxation experience. This is achieved through an innovative sliding system that offers versatility and effortless assembly. Customization options include adjustable seating, a multifunctional table, and a retractable canopy, ensuring comfort for individuals of all heights and sizes. The system is thoughtfully designed to provide shade and protection during sunny days while also offering convenient storage solutions for added practicality

As you see from the plan, the canopy is capable of covering both sides of the cabana, but can also slide both way. The canpoy would have a light fabric that is slightly transluent and allows some light. Similarly, the seats and tables are able to slide both ways. There is versitily to have people to seat on both sides and change the movement or interaction of the space.

Plans

Three different sliding components enable the system’s customization. Two seat back angles, 30° and 45°, are available through two distinct modules. The seat slider allows users to adjust the seat length in 6-inch increments by utilizing notches at the bottom of the rectangular module to “lock” their desired position. Sliding the seat back reveals an additional seating option with a 90° backrest for added comfort. Additionally, slats in the seats are designed to facilitate water drainage, ensuring a dry and comfortable experience for users.

In continuing the exploration from excerise 1, excerise 2 develops iterations from the more simplified or midied material. Thus reodering, shifting, and adjusting modules to create a structure or pavillion best suit the area (Liberty State Park at the edge of Flag Plaza).

Ring Cycle

With Violeta and Susanna

In Branch Brook Park, Newark, NJ, a 96-foot tree stands at the heart of *Ring Cycle*, an artist residence designed for painter Paris Souffrant. Located between Christopher Columbus Dr. and Branch Brook Park Dr., the tree’s serene canopy contrasts with the bustling surroundings.

The building’s circular design mirrors the tree’s organic flow, with staggered floors offering dynamic views and embodying the artistic process. Materials transition upward, creating cozier, private spaces at the top, where the artist ends her day. This residence merges art and nature, wrapping the tree in a harmonious blend of design and creativity.

This was the tree that surrounded by the artist’s residence. Its presence is undeniable, towering at an impressive 96 feet. The group decided this would be the ideal location for their design, as the rest of the site was too noisy and overcrowded. This spot allows the gallery to stand out while remaining conveniently accessible to visitors.

Upon identifying the kitchen items in the painting, one can see a pot in the background, multiple bottles, a steamer, and a measuring cup. In the very back of the painting, there are two distinct background colors—blue and cream— implying a division between two elements: the internal (blue) and the external (cream). The external side is dynamic, characterized by simpler shapes, while the internal side remains stationary, featuring more complex forms that create voids within the composition.
