ERIN MURPHY BANANAS IN A TREE 28 October - 21 November, 2026 OLSEN Annexe gallery is proud to present Bananas in a Tree, Erin Murphy’s debut solo exhibition with the gallery. An orange tree, a monolith, a French draft horse, a ladder – these are but some of the things which have been lovingly hoisted from the obscure pages of decommissioned library books, user manuals and illustrated histories and rendered with signature charm and wit by Erin Murphy, who is only half-joking when she tells you that she wants to paint “one of everything in the world”. They are staccato paintings, racing across the field of vision with an energy that sings and delights in itself (one thinks of a dog chasing birds full-tilt across a soccer pitch). Erin’s work always seems to let the light in. Indeed light, in the form of that radiant, cream-toothed canvas, is always revealing itself between the countless marks of paint; the resulting images are robust but effervescent, and twinkling with mirth. To look at these pictures is to rejoice, as Erin does, in the beauty of information, of painting, and the world. – Elisabeth Sulich
