2024-2025 Report on Giving

Page 1

Letter to the Good Counsel Community

Dear Friends,

Each year, this Annual Report on Giving allows us to reflect on the extraordinary generosity that sustains Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. On behalf of our students, faculty, and staff, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every donor listed in these pages. Your charitable giving strengthens our ability to enhance the student experience, expand tuition assistance, and ensure that every young person who walks our halls is inspired to excel, serve, and love

Our Xaverian values guide us on this mission. TRUST is the value our students chose for the 2024-2025 school year. Trust is essential to the Good Counsel community; it is at the heart of who we are and what we do. Families trust us with their children’s education and formation. Students trust that their teachers will challenge and support them. And we, in turn, trust that our friends and benefactors will continue to stand beside us, believing in our mission, investing in our growth, and helping us build a brighter future.

We saw that trust beautifully reflected in the moment captured on our cover. The image shows our students during the annual Appalachia service trip, repairing a home for a family in need. Their hands and hearts at work remind us that service is more than an act - it’s a reflection of the faith and trust that God calls us to live out each day. Just as those students trusted one another to complete their work, we rely on your partnership to carry forward our mission.

Because of your generosity, we can provide opportunities that shape not only strong minds but also compassionate hearts. You help us keep a Good Counsel education accessible, ensuring that talented students from all backgrounds can experience the transformative power of our Xaverian values.

The impact of that trust and generosity is seen clearly in our students’ accomplishments. The Class of 2025 has achieved remarkable success - 99% have been accepted to a fouryear college or university, earning more than $40 million in scholarships and completing 30,000 hours of service. Nearly half are now attending one of U.S. News & World Report’s Top 100 Colleges and Universities. These outcomes are a testament to the faith our community places in the Good Counsel mission and to what becomes possible when we trust and invest in our students.

Thank you for your continued trust in our mission and for your steadfast belief in the promise of our students. Together, we are forming young people who will go into the world ready to excel, serve, and love, today and always.

With gratitude,

Volunteer Leadership

We are inspired to support Good Counsel both philanthropically and through community partnership because we believe in the school’s mission. Good Counsel has a strong commitment to faith, excellence, service, and compassion — values that align closely with our own. Supporting GC is a meaningful way to invest in our son’s education and help the next generation. The act of giving is priceless.

Inspire Campaign

We are proud of the success of our Inspire Campaign, which raised nearly $14 million in support of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School over a five-year period. We received the largest single gift in school history to launch the Thomas Fortune Fay Student Learning Center, established 26 new endowed scholarship to provide much-needed tuition assistance, and raised unrestricted and restricted annual support. These are more than financial contributions; they are investments in our students, in our faculty, and in the enduring excellence of our school.

Good Counsel Alumni Donors

We are grateful to our loyal alumni who have made an annual gift to support the school. Participation percentages are listed for each class and based on living alumni for whom we have some form of contact information (i.e., address, email or phone number(s)).

“It’s all about community. Everybody has a community within Good Counsel, whether they are an athlete or are in theater, dance, a club, or something else. Everyone belongs. It is incredible to see the Xaverian values being carried out by the communities at Good Counsel, not only with the teachers, but also with the students.”

MATT JEANNERET ’85

Past board member

At my 40th class reunion in October 2025, I was reminded why I still support Good Counsel. When Kevin Nolan—one of our great math teachers and track coaches from the 1980s—made a surprise appearance, classmates immediately began sharing stories with him about how his lessons and encouragement had shaped their lives. The same could be said of Barry Fitzpatrick, Dick Burns, Dennis Essig, Tom Kolar, and Rich Seel. These dedicated teachers helped make Good Counsel special, and their lasting impact is one of the big reasons I continue to give back four decades later.

Contributions to Good Counsel provide vital operating funds to ensure that Good Counsel’s immediate and greatest needs are met each year to sustain the excellence of the school and the student experience.

Together, these gifts address expenses not covered by tuition, allowing Good Counsel to make a bold and meaningful commitment to our students and faculty. A commitment that we simply couldn’t fulfill otherwise.

Good Counsel deeply values its supporters and has a number of ways to recognize a donor’s generous contributions:

The 1958 Legacy Circle

honors alumni, parents and friends who have included Good Counsel in their estate plans or have made some other type of planned gift to Good Counsel.

Benefits: Members of the 1958 Legacy Circle are recognized in the school’s Annual Report of Donors, receive a special pin, and are invited to the Society Celebration, an annual leadership-level donor recognition dinner.

The

Xaverian Brothers Circle

recognizes those individuals whose lifetime philanthropic impact demonstrates how “in harmony small things grow.” This circle recognizes those who have provided cumulative gifts exceeding $50,000, pledged or paid, to Good Counsel.

Benefits: Members of the Xaverian Brothers Circle are recognized in the school’s Annual Report of Donors, receive a special pin and card for lifetime access to selected Good Counsel events, and are invited to the Society Celebration, an annual leadership-level donor recognition dinner.

The Saint Francis Xavier Circle*

recognizes those individuals who make an annual leadership gift of $1,000 or more to the school.

Benefits: Members of the SFX Circle are recognized in the school’s Annual Report of Donors, are invited to the Society Celebration, and receive an annual donor card that provides access to selected Good Counsel events.

*For the 2025-26 giving year, the minimum for this level will increase to $1,500 to have a greater impact on the Good Counsel community.

The Ryken Loyalty Circle

honors donors who have supported Good Counsel for five or more consecutive years, regardless of giving amount.

Benefits: Members of the Ryken Loyalty Circle are recognized in the school’s Annual Report of Donors and are invited to a special recognition event each year.

The 1958 Legacy Society was established to honor and thank alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends who have named Our Lady of Good Counsel High School as beneficiaries of their wills, trusts, life insurance policies, retirement plans, or other planned giving instruments.
