THE SURVIVOR CINEMA IDEAL Transformation into convertible public space Final work of Master’s Degree Alicante (Spain) Academic year 2016/ 2017
The project had the objective of recovering this space which has great importance in the memory of Alicante city. The proposal was worked from the conviction the desmaterialization of the architecture which would organize the new program and would keep the highest respect to its context without playing down the prominence to it. A design with democratic nature which would be built based on a social approach which would increase the sense of belonging of the inhabitants of the city to this building. So, they would have the opportunity to reconstruct what they lost to convert it into a new public space where living new experiences and emotions.

THE SURVIVOR CINEMA IDEAL The Cinema Ideal, which was designed and built by Juan Vicente SantafĂŠ in 1925, is placed in the key center of the city. And after analyzing its present state of neglect, it was considered to reactivate it through a transformation into a convertible public space. It is a project which proposes an open space for uncertainty, for enjoyment and for constant collective and individual use. It is a space in motion whose objectives and strategies are the following: - Converting it into a new meeting place without restrictions of use and movement. - Turning it into an active agent of its environment with a new strategy of programmatic diversity. - Keeping its essence reactivating its nature of stage space and recovering it as a film reference point. - Keeping its physical identity applying an opposite material approach between the present architecture and the new architecture. - No blotting out its story keeping the essence of the present material.

On the one hand, it was proposed to carry out through a collaborative process in the management, in the financing and in the implementation with a numerous participation of agents as volunteers, workers, associations and public institutions. On the other hand, it was considered that the proposal was done through phases which allowed the progressive appropiation of the space. These phases were the following four: Initial phase whose objective was the adaptation of the present space and the first management tasks. First phase where would start the voluntary service and the occupation with the objective of gaining the neces-

sary quality of the new public space and starting the operation of the central stage space. Second phase whose objective was to add the space to the main programmatic flow of the environment. Finally, in third phase the formative spaces of the program, which would keep the film memory of the Cinema Ideal, will be open to the public. In this way, it would finish the implementation of the Ideal transformation, which would be recovered and open indefinitely to be enjoyed without losing its essence, its memory, its film and stage identity and its social and meeting character. ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF TENSILE FABRIC STRUCTURES Implementation around La Coruùa Square Final work of Bachelor’s Degree Alicante (Spain) Academic year 2015/ 2016
This survey was covered from an experimental perspective through which were acquired knowledges about this structural type and about its design possibilities. These knowledges were corroborating the theoretical information of the different reference sources. That experimentation was carried out based on an architecture project where it was studied the connection of the tensile fabric structures with architectural space and whose design was achieved from the observation of autogenesis processes of the shape through my own models. A long process of trial and mistakes that determined the optimum shape of these models and consequently, their good structural performance.

ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF TENSILE FABRIC STRUCTURES The project which tried out with these structures considered to reactivate the environment of La CoruĂąa Square. It is a main street in Alicante city which depicts the main entrance flow towards the beach. Moreover, the square and a tram stop are located in this street. The proposal consisted in acting in these focus (stop, square and beach) in order to intensify whole to get the best global behavior between them. For that, it was set out to increase the clear vision from the square to sea, the connection between the square and the tram stop and to provide an own identity and an unique spatial character overall, too. The project followed a thread based on the most strong attraction agent of this area: sea. Water guided the proposal through its curve lines, its entrance of zenithal light and its colours to get an architectural space with a fluid use and sinuous shapes. Therefore, tensile fabric structures were a fundamental part in the design of the architectural space. With them, it was worked in the intensive search for the optimum curves.

A CLOUD Junya Ishigami - 2010 Nagoya (Japan) Academic year 2016/ 2017
‘A cloud is one new image for architecture. Clouds appear as a phenomenon of nature. Architecture that floats lightly in the air, soft and fluffy like a cloud, transparent and intricate like an airflow, vast and enormous but even then having no substance. Such is the kind of architecture I pursue. In something lying between natural phenomena and built structure there may be new potential for architecture.’ Junya Ishigami

BUILDING CARRIÓN Luis Martínez Feduchi + Vicente Eced y Eced - 1933 Madrid (Spain) Academic year 2014/ 2015
This is one of the most famous building of Gran Vía Street in Madrid. Its style is art déco. It is one of the most recognizable icons of spanish architecture from the 20th century. Besides, it has got to be a symbol of the city and inspiration for other architects. The most important thing in that time were the technological advances that were included in the building, as Vierendel concrete beams, the fireproof fabrics or the central air-conditioning system being the first in Madrid. Nowadays, we can see an illuminated sign of Schweppes brand stands up in its façade which has turned into a symbol of this important street. This illuminated sign has appeared in a lot of movies, too.

BUILDING CARRIÓN The work consisted in analyzing the present state of the building to detect failures to comply with the present regulations. And so, the building would be renovated to fit in with them. The building Carrión, which matches the guest house party wall typology, is located in the center of the city and it has fourteen floors with two basement floors which are mainly used for different installations. The building is used for several uses, as hotel, offices, studio flats, cinema and rooms of numerous uses. Moreover, the façade is covered with sandstone of Salamanca on its three elevations. The renovated building had to meet associated needs to its uses. Due to the high choice of them, the spaces of the building had to meet some demands for comfort and safety, as correct thermal insulation and soundproofing, efficient fire evacuation or accesible ways for all kind of people. Therefore, the work consisted in converting the building so that it could comply with all that.

TOMà S LLORET CHEMIST’S WINDOW In this chemist the idea was to create a reaction on pedestrians and to renovate the shop appearance redecorating its windows. The architectural installation showed the values of this chemist as a business, its future and its renovation. So, its identity was intensified and the chemist might attract more consumers. The space was very small but was entirely used. It was made up of two different parts which were connected between them. On the one hand, the base of the installation, where drugs were presented, was made with natural logs of wood from Alicante. Which added a natural and near touch to the space. On the other hand, these products are crowned by a lamp made with copper pipes where hung different laboratory flasks which alluded to precision and to complex research and production processes. Both elements of the installation were connected between them through LED lighting provided to the products of the wood base by the flasks of the lamp. INTERIOR ARTISTIC FOLDING SCREEN Adriana Figueiras Arquitectura - 2016 Madrid (Spain) Collaboration in academic year 2015/ 2016
Adriana Figueiras

INTERIOR ARTISTIC FOLDING SCREEN The folding screen project came up of the need to do an artistic piece which went beyond contemplative things. A beautiful piece that was full of possibilities. The idea was to design a permeable composition with volume which was made up of a lot of different elements placed in front of a window in a living-room. Last design consisted in a network of leather tight cords distributed in four layers which formed a lot of sloping lines where a high number of parchment figures was fitted. It was got through a design process based on alternating curves and straight lines of different shapes and sizes in the four levels of cords. The supporting structure of all this was made of a steel profile which converted the artistic piece into a folding screen with different positions. Besides, the design had to be made of natural and authentic materials. For this, the network was made of leather cords, the figures was made of parchment pieces and the auxiliary elements of the structural design were made of solid wood and of gold brass. AN ICE-CREAM PARLOUR Olga Ruibal Eleno - 2018 Alicante (Spain) Collaboration with CSG Consulting
The owner of ‘El Xixonenc’ ice-cream parlours asked to design an ice-cream stand in Alicante Harbor, whose project was presented from two perspectives: its environment and its brand. On the one hand, this environment is a port area with its own features and with some important preexistences as the Castle Santa Bárbara, the House Carbonell or the Esplanade of Spain in Alicante. On the other hand, the owner presented the operation of his ice-cream parlour, its philosophy and its brand. Finally, the project was designed with a strong and suggestive corporate appearance which was integrated in its environment.
#basicproject #brand #integration
AN ICE-CREAM PARLOUR The design began by turning the outside of the stand to the main streets and preexistences. This entailed a high attraction of customers and to close the design in the sun trajectory. The landscape integration was carried out drawing the main features of the port: the white colour, the industrial appearance, the sails of ships and its aerodynamic lines. And all this was integrated in the design through the colours, the furniture or the materials. After, the approach of strong and suggestive brand consisted in designing a stand whose lines started from a deconstruction of the ice-cream parlour logotype. This deconstruction was based on the extraction of the ‘X’ letter and the curve line of the ‘El Xixonenc’ logotype to work with them in the design process. This project was carried out understanding the design like an elevation. Moreover, the colours of this brand are red and white, whose proportion in the stand was very important to get a balance between the landscape integration and the last approach. For this, the main colour was white and red colour only appeared in the furniture, the lighting or the longitudinal façades.
