LOT #8 Italy’s Grand Palio Tradition

With its origins dating back to medieval times, the Palio di Siena is the most exciting horse race in the world. And you will have a bird’s eye view from your own private apartment overlooking the Piazza del Campo for all the pomp and pageantry.

Your seven-night Il Palio experience begins the moment you settle into your luxurious three-bedroom villa in the Tuscan countryside. Complete with all the modern comforts of home, yet oozing with old world charm, you and your five guests will instantly feel like Sienese aristocrats.

On the days leading up to the big race, you’ll be part of the trial races, the blessing of the horses and the historical parade that winds through the streets of the Siena City Center. As the excitement continues to build, you’ll also become an honorary member of a local Contrada, attending their traditional pre-race celebration.

When it is finally time for the big race, you’ll be draped in your Contrada’s colors, and ready to cheer for your horse and jockey as they complete the three laps around the historic Piazza del Campo. With your viewing apartment overlooking the start/finish line, you’ll be right there for the photo finish. What a thrill!
