MISHA MAISKY - CELLO
Mischa Maisky has the distinction of being the only cellist in the world to have studied with both Mstislav Rostropovich and Gregor Piatigorsky.
Rostropovich has lauded Mischa Maisky as ”…one of the most outstanding talents of the younger generation of cellists. His playing combines poetry and exquisite delicacy with great temperament and brilliant technique.”
Born in Latvia, educated in Russia, after his repatriation to Israel, Mischa Maisky has been enthusiastically received in London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, New York and Tokyo, along with the rest of the major music centers.
He considers himself as a citizen of the world: „I’m playing an Italian cello, with French and German bows, Austrian and German strings, my daughter was born in France, my oldest son in Belgium, the middle one in Italy and the youngest one in Switzerland, I’m driving a Japanese car, wear a Swiss watch, an Indian necklace and I feel at home everywhere where people appreciate and enjoy classical music.“
As an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist during the last 25 years he made well over 30 recordings with such orchestras as Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony, Israel Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, Orpheus und Chamber Orchestra of Europe and others.
His recordings have enjoyed world-wide critical acclaim and have been awarded five times the prestigious Record Academy Prize in Tokyo, three times Echo Deutscher Schallplattenpreis, Grand Prix du Disque in Paris and Diapason d’Or of the Year as well as the coveted Grammy nominations.
Truly a world-class musician and regular guest in most major International Festivals he collaborated with such conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Carlo Maria Giulini, Valery Gergiev and Gustavo Dudamel and his partnerships have included artists as Martha Argerich, Radu Lupu, Nelson Freire, Evgeny Kissin, Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov and Janine Jansen to name just a few.
BRUSK ZANGANEH - VIOLIN
Efter sin solistdebut med symfoniorkester redan vid 13 års ålder har Brusk sedan dess konserterat flitigt över hela världen både som solist och kammarmusiker.
Senare kom han att studera vid Göteborgs Musikhögskola, Edsberg-Kungliga Musikhögskolan och avslutade med solistdiplom vid Zürcher Hochschule der Künste.
Brusk är eftertraktad för sin mångsidighet som musiker och har medverkat i ett flertal tv-, radio- och cd-inspelningar. Han har också ett gediget intresse för kurdisk musiktradition och har spelat tillsammans med namnkunniga musiker inom denna genre. Idag är Brusk anställd som konsertmästare i Uppsala Kammarorkester och medlem i Uppsala kammarsolisterna.
ALEXANDER GORDON - VIOLA
Alexander is one of the most versatile misicians of his generation. His conducting debut took place in Finland in 2014 with the Lappeenranta Symphony Orchestra which brought him invitations to conduct Sinfonia Finlandia and Pori Sinfonietta In Finland. In 2017 highly acclaimed concert and Live Broadcast with the Bulgarian National Radio- Symphony Orchestra with Mischa Maisky as a soloist followed by invitations to conduct worldwide.
The concert in December 2018 with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra with Tabea Zimmermann as soloist was very highly acclaimed and brought him numerous re-invitations.
Alexander Gordon is member at the LEAD! program where he is collaborating as viola mentor and conducting assistant of Jukka-Pekka Saraste.
In February 2020 he debuted as opera conductor in Aleko by Rachmaninov at the Ukrainian National Opera in Kyiv which followed by immediate re-invitation for next season. He has also assisted Vladimir Jurowsky with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and in october 2021 he conducted his debut with London Philharmonic Orchestra on a tour in Madrid and Barcelona.
In 2015 Alexander Gordon was appointed artistic director and conductor of the International New Symphony Orchestra (INSO) in Lviv, giving this multinational German-Russian-Ukrainian-Jewish musician the role of an “Ambassador of Peace” in Ukraine, aiming to bring Peace and Unity through music.
At the age of 23 Alexander Gordon was appointed Principal Viola of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. After ten years as a leader of the viola section of the the LPO he left to dedicate himself entirely to his demanding career as soloist and conductor.
ALISSA MARGULIS - VIOLIN
The Guardian” describes Alissa Margulis’s playing as „exceptional”, Ivry Gitlis praises it as ”a revelation”.
Appreciated for her expressive and very emotional performances, Alissa Margulis regularly plays in important concert halls such as the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, the Cologne Philharmony, the Vienna Musikverein, the Izumi Hall in Osaka, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, Beethovenhalle Bonn and the Schönberg Hall in Los Angeles to mention a few.
Born in Germany into a family of Russian musicians, Alissa Margulis studied in Cologne with Zakhar Bron, in Brussels with Augustin Dumay and in Vienna with Pavel Vernikov. She made her first public appearance at the age of seven with the Budapest Soloists and has performed since then with numerous orchestras such as the Kremerata Baltica, the Belgian National Orchestra, the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Beethovenorchester Bonn, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oxford Orchestra and the Israel Chamber Orchestra.
Her many prizes at international music competitions include those at the Wieniawski Competition in Poland, the Spohr Youth Competition, the Novosibirsk Violin Competition, Viotti Vercelli Competition in Italy, the Osaka Chamber Music Competition, the UNISA String Competition in Pretoria, the Vittorio Gui Competition in Florence. She also received the Award for Young Artists by the European Foundation for Culture.
