Dear Members & Guests,
I am proud and honoured, to serve as President of Old Belvedere Rugby Football Club for the season 2025/26. It is a privilege not only for me, but for my extended family also, who have a long tradition and connection with the club.
This year is a particularly exciting one as we mark the return of our Men’s team to Division 1A in the AIL

Achieving this has been no small task, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who has worked tirelessly including our coaches, players, committee members, volunteers, supporters and mens shed This commitment and work extends across all our sections, Women, Men, Juniors, U20’s, Youths & Minis As a club, we have built a strong foundation for what we hope will be a successful and memorable season. We remain focused on more than results alone Rugby’s true strength lies in its values teamwork, discipline, respect, and community. We encourage each of you to embrace these qualities both on and off the pitch, and to continue to support one another in the spirit that makes this club so special Our great club offers ” a sense of belonging” and as always this extends not just to members but to our guests also. Together, let’s enjoy the season ahead on and off the pitch and I look forward to seeing you all in Ollie Campbell Park where we will enjoy the journey together.
Best Wishes,
2025/26 Club President Kevin O’Brien
Dear Hon Secretary,
It gives me great pleasure to write to you for the first time in the capacity of President of the Irish Rugby Football Union for the upcoming season, 2025/26
Following on from the hugely successful celebratory 150th year, I hope our 151st season will be equally memorable I am greatly looking forward to representing Irish Rugby at home and abroad over the coming 12 months
would like to extend my sincere thanks and best wishes to the outgoing President, Declan Madden, who had a great year.
Our 150th year certainly did not disappoint. It was a season filled with many memorable moments, both on and off the field None of this would have been possible without the tireless dedication of volunteers across every Club and school in the country. To all who give their time and energy to our game, please accept my heartfelt thanks The role that these volunteers play at every level in Ireland is unique The strength of the direct link they provide from the clubs through the provinces and to national level is what sets us apart from other countries and must be maintained I am pleased to see that the strategy for Rugby in Ireland, published last year, continues to guide the Union’s priorities. A recent review of the All-Ireland League has helped ensure that our flagship amateur competition remains vibrant and competitive.

Accelerating the growth of the Women’s game remains one of our central strategic objectives. The season is now beginning with the Women’s World Cup in England which is generating great excitement We have a very talented and well prepared team and we all wish them every success in this adventure. We are also indebted to the wide family of Irish Rugby sponsors whose continued commitment enables us to support Clubs, competitions, and representative teams Their backing ensures that Irish Rugby remains strong at grassroots level while competing proudly on the world stage
A new season always brings new challenges, new opportunities, and renewed energy I am greatly looking forward to visiting Clubs and engaging with players, volunteers, and supporters across the country in the year ahead.
As we embark on this season together, I would encourage all involved in the game to uphold the Spirit of Rugby values– Respect, Integrity, Inclusivity, Excellence & Fun This respect must be for teammates, opponents, coaches, match officials, and all who make our sport possible. By living these values, both on and off the pitch, we ensure that rugby remains a game for all
With every good wish for a rewarding and enjoyable season,
Yours sincerely,
Dr John O’Driscoll President
