VISUAL AID USAGE GUIDANCE - Do not use the tool without reading the instructions.

- Please read the instructions carefully, they contain important information regarding the use of the tool.

- Keep this booklet for future reference.

VISUAL AID 1 - ‘Blinkers’

The main purpose of this glasses is to capture and navigate space using the human eye through a medium or an add-on. The term blinker was coined from horse racing which is usually worn over faces of racing horses to prevent the horse from seeing to the rear which could be a potential risk and a further cause of accident during the game.

The glasses acts as a calibrator and is constructed using 0.1cm thick off cuts from boards and triplex in such a way that it is 4cm away from the lens, rests on the nose bridge for support and permits only a front vision of a maximum of 120 Degrees with vision from the sides, top and bottom prohibited as a result of these protruding cavities. The heightened top panel acts as a shock absorber for reactions and inclement weather such as sunlight, etc.

The inner portion is lined with light weight aluminium foil to improve reflectivity and refraction qualities. The Amorphous Polymer Material (Poly-vinyl chloride) used as the lens has a refractive index of 1.531, this allows light rays to reflect randomly and arrive at the receiver at different times known as modal dispersion. This means that a maximum distance of about 6metres can be viewed behind this lens but not in details due to the additional coarse pattern on the surface of the PVC material.

WARNINGS

1. The glasses should be placed on a flat surface after every use.

2. Only suitable for use outdoor. Do not use indoor; especially at night.

3. This visual aid is not intended for use in bathrooms, kitchen and/or similar indoor locations.

4. Do not insert or allow any foreign object pierce into the lens.

5. Clean the lens using only an alcohol based solution to improve visibility as other materials can leave hard stains 6. Do not use this tool for investigation if any part is damaged.

7. This tool can only be used by kids above 8years.

8. The fuzzy nature of the lens may cause the inability to understand difference in levels while on site, hence the user might experience mild shock on first use 9. The product only appears in bits and pieces hence it requires the activation of the other human senses to be at alert.

10. Prohibited view of normal sight lines as the sides, top and bottom have been calibrated to conceal.

11. Do not wear the glasses on the tip of the nose or halfway down the nasal bridge.

12. Do not stretch out the glasses as this can stretch it out of shape.

USAGE

1. Put on the glasses very carefully.

2. Adjust the position of the glasses.

- Grip both sides of the elastic band with both hands. Raise the band over the head and lower the frame gently onto the nose.

- Press one hand against the glasses resting on your nose bridge so that the frames sit comfortably.

3,. After wearing the glasses comfortably.

- Proceed to the site of enquiry with the glasses fixed on the face at a pace of a maximum of 28 steps per minute.

4. Identifying an object in space.

- It takes approx. 2 minutes to identify an object; complete or not. Ensure to look at any object.

The maximum distance for visual perception is approx. 6metres due to the 3cm gap in the position of the lens and the human eye behind.

5. Removing the glasses.

- Gently raise your temples and slide the glasses forward using one hand, and the other to slide off the elastic band behind the head. Keep the glasses properly and clean the lens once observation has been concluded.

6. Capturing the product / scene.

- While remaining on the same spot, raise the glasses up with one hand, ensuring it is perpendicular to your eye and nose, capture the moment using any camera.

ASSEMBLY INFORMATION Materials required for construction: - Off cuts from Boards or Triplex for flexibility - Spray paint in any suitable colour of choice - Grey Book cover roll 100mm micron made with PVC material for the lens - 4 pieces of Eyelet - Eyelet Puncher - Cutter - Wood and Craft Glue - Sand paper - Cutting mat - Steel rule - Eraser - Pencil or Metal marker - 12mm black elastic band - Tape rule STEPS 1. Cut out parts labelled as 1, 2 (excluding the eyelet hole) and 3.

2. Scar only parts 2 and 3 on all vertical lines 3. Join parts 1, 2 and 3 using wood craft glue. Apply pressure to the parts for about 10 - 15 minutes to ensure proper joinery. Leave the joined parts in an airy environment for about 30 minutes to allow the

glue set.

4. Spray the joined parts in sections with paint of choice and leave to dry for approximately 15 minutes on each section.

5. Trace out the part 1 for the lens and cut it. Attach lens to the sprayed glasses frames using glue. Leave to dry for 15 minutes.

6. Measure circumference of head just above top of ears. Wrap tape gently around head the middle portion of the head. Divide measurement by .75 or 3/4.

Use this measurement as a guide to cut the length of the 12mm elastic band.

7. Fold elastic band into tow equal halves and again, fold the folded part in horizontally about 0.8cm. Cut the centre at angle 45 about 0,15cm.v 8. Place one eyelet on the eyelet puncher and then punch the almost complete glasses. Place the 2nd eyelet in the hole cut out in the elastic band and then punch both sides of the eyelet to tighten the eyelet.

9. Place the completed glasses in an airy environment to set for about 6 hours.

VISUAL AID 2 - ‘Pin hole’

The main purpose of this glasses is to capture and navigate space using the human eye through a medium or an add-on. The pin-hole glasses originated in the late 1990s to be an anti myopia (short sightedness) instrument meaning that it improves the eye vision. The series of pin-hole perforations acts as a magnifier hence improving eyesight and the use of the glass lenses can be avoided in some occasions. The pinholes come in various sizes but on each sheet of plastic or material, the pinholes are to be of equal size, spacing is negligible.

The glasses acts as a calibrator and is constructed using 0.1cm thick off cuts from boards or triplex in such a way that it rests close to the eye and then on the bridge of the nose for support and permits for vision from the numerous pinholes with only a front vision of a maximum of 120 Degrees with vision from the sides, top and bottom prohibited.

The triplex board used as the construction material has a refractive index of 1.65 and this allows light rays to reflect randomly and arrive at the receiver at different times known as modal dispersion.

The addition of the pin-holes increases the maximum distance coverage and can be estimated to double to about 10metres due to its magnifying abilities.

3. Use outdoor under supervision. Not to be used indoor.

4. This visual aid is not intended for use in bathrooms, kitchen and/or similar indoor locations.

5. Do not insert any foreign objects into pinhole, this would increase the diameter of the pin-hole.

6. Clean the glasses with a dry cloth, if necessary a sand-paper can be used on the surface to smoothing it.

7. Do not use this tool for investigation if any part is damaged.

8. The glasses requires a lot of practice and focus for effective use.

9. Only an area or object is focused on clearly at a point in time, hence requires complete body alertness to be used.

10. Do not wear the glasses on the tip of the nose or halfway down the nasal bridge.

11. Do not stretch out the glasses as this can stretch it out of shape or damage it completely.

12. Do not walk too fast, move at a maximum pace of 20 steps per minute.

- Press one hand against the glasses resting on your nose bridge so that the frames sit comfortably and rest on the face i.e it is approx. 2cm away from the eye.

3,. After wearing the glasses comfortably.

- Proceed to the site of enquiry with the glasses fixed gently on the face at a pace of a maximum of 20 steps per minute. Make sure to look left and left at every 3minutes.

4. Identifying an object in space - It takes approximately 2 - 3minutes to identify an object. For proper identification, close on eye. Leaving the other open, gaze into the site of enquiry from a minimum distance of 2metres and a maximum of 10metres.

- Using almost the same technique for wearing the glasses, gently raise your temples and slide the glasses forward using one hand, and the other to take off the elastic band supporting it behind the head.

- Remaining on the same spot or site of enquiry, Take of the glasses with one hand and position it above nose level. Ensure it is perpendicular, then make camera lens rests on the pinhole, This allows it to focus and then capture the scenario.

3. Using an eyelet puncher or any other punching tool score the holes on the triplex board.

4. Clamp hard on each of the holes until the holes are smooth and without obstruction.

5. Sand paper the cut out frame until edges are smooth.

6. Spray the pin-hole lens with spray paint of only colour black, this helps reduce reflection of light.

7. Measure circumference of head just above top of ears. Wrap tape gently around head the middle portion of the head. Divide measurement by .75 or 3/4.
