Ashley Gin Braden Witt

Braden Witt is from the small town of Hudson, Kansas. He is a senior graduating with a degree in Biochemistr y and Molecular Biology. While at OSU, he spent a lot of his time in Dr. Rita Miller’s and had the incredible opportunity to conduct research with Dr. Greenlee studying Stu2 in yeast. As a Freshman Research Scholar, he conducted research in wildlife ecology performing a diet study on Spotted Suckers with Dr. Daniel Shoup. He also enjoyed his time in FIT, was a BIMB Peer Mentor Tutor and loves to watch OSU athletics. Braden will be applying to medical school this year and hope to work in underserved rural communities in the future. He has enjoyed his time in the department making connections with faculty and staff.

Biochemistr y and Molecular Biology All-Star

Nancy Clary Maciel Sims

Maciel Sims is currently a junior from Edmond, Oklahoma pursuing a degree in Biochemistr y and Molecular Biology. During her time in our department, she’s had the opportunity to work in Dr. Yong Cheng’s lab which focuses on how mycobacterium abscessus complex and mycobacterium avium complex lead to diseases in humans. Maicel was awarded an OSU Freshman Research Scholarship and an OAES/ Ferguson Undergraduate Research Scholarship. During her time here at OSU she has been named a member of the Oklahoma State Scholar Society and currently serves on the executive board for Alpha Omega Epsilon. Maciel plans to attend Dental school after completing her undergraduate studies.
