OKL AHOMA FILM + MUSIC OFFICE To quote Oklahoma’s own music icon Woody Guthrie, “this land is your land; this land is my land” – and we have plenty to set the scene for your next film or television production. From thriving urban cities to quaint small towns and a wide range of topographical wonder spread among 12 distinct eco-regions, there’s more than meets the eye in Oklahoma. Oklahoma is currently experiencing a cultural renaissance, and its cities are emerging as some of the nation’s top places for business, economic development and quality of life. Our local film and music industries have flourished and continue to strengthen, in part, due to Oklahoma’s film incentive which offers one of the strongest and most-competitive programs in the U.S. We are proud to open our doors for all people and hold a place of consideration for film, television and music productions ranging in diversity and size.

Minari “We wanted to go someplace that was going to be able to support us and our creative vision ... and we wanted to go somewhere that was a little bit more accepting. So Oklahoma seemed like a great place, along with the incentives. ... We needed someplace that still had that lush greenery of that sort of location and then still be able to support our filmmaking endeavors.” — Christina Oh, Producer

Written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung (“Munyurangabo”, “Lucky Life”), Academy Awardwinner “Minari” tells the story of a Korean father who, in pursuit of the American dream, uproots his family and moves them to a farm in rural Arkansas. The film starred Steven Yeun, (“Nope,” “The Walking Dead”), Yeri Han (“Sea Fog”), Youn Yuh-Jung (“Sense 8”), Will Patton (“Halloween”), and Scott Haze (“Thank You for Your Service”). Set in Arkansas, the complete filming of “Minari” took place in Oklahoma with the City of Tulsa serving as the primary hub for the production. Additional filming took place in and around the Tulsa area, including the communities of Sand Springs, Broken Arrow and Skiatook. Throughout filming, the production employed more than 170 Oklahoma L E F T PA G E : S E T O F M I N A R I MEADOW LAKE RANCH - SAND SPRINGS R I G H T PA G E : LANDSCAPE - BROKEN ARROW

Rudderless “Thank you Oklahoma — we loved being there ... we couldn’t have made it anywhere else. I mean, we got so much help, so many services in kind, people were so sweet to us. You go to New York, you say, ‘Excuse me, can we put something on your front yard?’ and they say, ‘Get the hell out of here. I hate the damn movies. Argh.’ And here it was, ‘Yeah, what can I do to help?’ People work hard here — the crew worked their buns off day and night. I don’t know, it’s just sort of that Midwest work ethic. It’s quite impressive.” — William H. Macy, Director / Producer / Actor

“I’m very appreciative that I got to shoot my feature film directorial debut in Oklahoma. It’s a special place with breathtaking views and hard-working crew that you won’t find anywhere else. The Oklahoma Film + Music Office was there to help us with logistics and showed us so much support that I’d be delighted to shoot in the state again.” Brent Ryan Green, Director, The Veil, Producer, I Can Only Imagine

The directorial debut for William H. Macy, Rudderless made a big splash in Oklahoma’s film repertoire. The film, written by Oklahoma natives Jeff Robison and Casey Twenter and shot in Oklahoma City, stars Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, Felicity Huffman, Jamie Chung, Selena Gomez and Laurence Fishburne. The script tells the story of a grieving father (Crudup) who finds salvation after the discovery of his deceased son’s demo tapes and lyrics. The film had a successful worldpremiere at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival before being released in theatres. Regarding the film’s release, Twenter says, “We wrote ‘Rudderless’ with the hopes of making it in our own backyard with friends. Little did we know it would happen, and those friends would be likes of

Tulsa King “The opportunity of playing a cowboy has never presented itself. The fact of a gangster coming to Oklahoma is really remote, but that’s what makes it special. Oklahoma is a special place. Very unique.” — Sylvester Stallone, Actor

From creator Taylor Sheridan (“Yellowstone”) with Terence Winter (“The Sopranos”) at the helm as executive producer, writer and showrunner, “Tulsa King” stars Sylvester Stallone (“Rocky”) in his first-ever television series lead role as New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi, who, after serving 25 years in prison, is unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set-up operations in Tulsa, Okla. “Tulsa King” is the largest scripted television series to be produced in Oklahoma using the state’s production incentives under the “Filmed in Oklahoma Act of 2021.” It filmed primarily in Oklahoma City with additional locations in Bethany and Tulsa among others. The production also utilized Prairie Surf Studios, a sound stage in Oklahoma City.

Killers of the Flower Moon “It was about immersing ourselves in that world, and the only way to do that was to go there and be there and stay there and be with the Osages […] We immersed ourselves in it and tried to do right by them as much as possible.” — Martin Scorsese, Director

The largest motion picture to be produced in the state’s history, “Killers of the Flower Moon” depicts the true story of the serial murder of citizens of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation in 1920s Oklahoma as told in the best-selling novel by David Grann. Directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese (“Taxi Driver”) and produced by Apple, “Killers of the Flower Moon” boasts an all-star cast including Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio (“The Revenant”), Academy Award winner Robert De Niro (“Raging Bull”), Emmy Award nominee Jesse Plemons (“The Irishman”), and Lily Gladstone (“First Cow”), among others.
