Get ready for a spectacular celestial show! Every year, the famous Perseids and the lesser-known Delta Aquariids meteor showers converge in late summer. The Delta Aquariids peak in late July, and in 2024, the waning gibbous and last quarter moon will light up the sky past midnight, making the best viewing time before the moon rises.
Predicted Peak: July 20th & 30th, 2024, at 15:16 UTC. The Delta Aquariids don’t have a sharp peak but are steady from late July through early August. When to Watch: Late July through early August, from mid-evening to dawn. Duration: July 18 to August 21. Radiant: Rises in mid-evening, highest around 2 a.m., and low by dawn. Moon Phase: Last quarter moon on July 28 at 2:52 UTC Best viewing is around midnight in late July.
Expected Meteors: Under ideal conditions, you can see 15 to 20 meteors per hour in a dark, moon-free sky.
