The First-Year Experience (FYE) program facilitates the successful academic and co-curricular transition of new undergraduate students in the Oklahoma City University community by supporting first-year students through an orientation program, providing opportunities for engagement across campus and connecting students to resources to promote retention, academic and personal growth. New undergraduate transfer and non-traditional students who have experienced the collegiate environment are welcome to attend any and all events but are not required to do so.

University administrators are also excited to hear from you on how they can best support your student. Noon–1 p.m. Stars Group Lunch The first meeting for new students with their Stars Groups and Stars Group Leaders. Lunch provided and parents and families welcome. Pre-assigned meeting locations sent via OKCU email from the First-Year Experience Office. 1:30– Petree College of Arts and Sciences 2:30 p.m. Parent and Family Academic Orientation Parents and families only information session for new Arts and Sciences students. 1:30– Find Your Class Tours 3:30 p.m. In this time block, students are free to take care of university business, such as getting their Star Card, getting a parking permit, checking their mailbox, etc. Golf cart tours will take off from the Pavilion to help students to find their classes. 4–5 p.m. Chill Out with Residence Life Take a break from this long day with popsicles and frozen treats in your residence hall! 5–6 p.m. Matriculation Choir Rehearsal Required of all freshman music majors enrolled in choir: music theater, vocal performance, BA, church music, or choral music education students, or instrumental majors enrolled in a vocal ensemble. 6–7:30 p.m. Star Groups Dinner Star groups will meet to get to know a valued member of the OKCU Faculty or Staff and their family! Required of all new undergraduate students. Dinner provided, and parents and families welcome. Bon Voyage Brunch Goodbye brunch honoring visiting parents and family members. Brunch provided and open to all new undergraduate students and their families.
