Our Marriage Story
We met through Billy’s dad, John “J.W.” Coyle. J.W. was a practicing attorney
and I met him through the district attorney’s office. My first hearing as a licensed legal intern was against J.W.
Through J.W. and other lawyers in his firm at the time, I met Billy. Billy had recently moved back from Florida to attend law school. We met and the rest is history. We have been together for 25 years and married for 23 years.
Our Marriage Secret
We care deeply about our family and have a deep faith in God. We’ve always worked together as a team. We work hard to make sure everyone is taken care of.
Our Special Interests
We love our family greatly. Family is first. Without the love of our family we have nothing. Our children are our greatest accomplishments. We are proud to be mom and dad.
Also, we are both very passionate about our work. With a lifetime of public service, it is an honor to serve my community as a district judge in the 7th Judicial District of Oklahoma County.
Billy is very passionate about defending people in their darkest hour to make sure all their constitutional rights are protected.

Our Backgrounds
Doug was born in Ponca City and as you know, is the CEO of Quail Creek Bank; he has just stepped down as president and has put together a succession plan with a group of young very talented bankers! Doug says his life is based on four tenets he learned from watching how his parents lived. He calls it the 4 Fuller F’s – FAITH / FAMILY / FUTURE / FUN and he attempts to live his life every day based on these core beliefs.
Specifically, Doug loves banking/finance and has been very active with the Oklahoma Bankers Association as board member and The Bankers Bank as board member and chairman. He has also been involved in so many community activities and boards, but his real passions centers around education & healthcare.
Regarding those areas he has served in the following capacities:
Bishop McGuinness Catholic MS 2005-2011
Board member, Chairman
ASTEC Charter School Foundation 2014-2026
Board member, Chairman
Advantage Health Plan Trust 2018-2024
Advisory Board Trustee

Our Marriage Story
As you know, I was born in OKC, and outside of attending OU in Norman, I’ve lived here my whole life. Doug and I met in college; we lived across the street from each other our sophomore year through our senior year. We got married on Valentine’s day in 1981 and have been married for 45 years!
Our Marriage Secret
I think the secret to a happy marriage is to always have respect for each other, have shared interests, but also have individual interests. Doug‘s family and mine are so similar in many ways. Our parents were married only to each other, had six children, Doug and I are both
fourth from the oldest (third from the youngest middle children), he has four sisters and one brother; I am one of four sisters and have two brothers. Doug mentioned the four Fuller F’sfaith, family, future, fun. When I reflect on how I was raised, these tenets could exactly apply, so I guess you could say, they’re the foundation for the “secret” to a happy marriage and have been our “roadmap” for how we’ve tried to live our lives and raise our children! I would also say, we have many wonderful long time friends, who feel like family, because we share these same tenets or priorities with them!
We have two children Alex and Lissy, a sonin-law, Travis Renna and a future daughter-inlaw Kat Maloney. Alex and Kat are planning to get married next April.
Lissy and Travis live in Dallas and are pregnant with our first grandchild, Roman Michael, who is due to arrive any day now!
My background academically and professionally has always centered around health and fitness starting with teaching the first aerobics to music class for OU’s Adult Health and Fitness Program in 1976! After graduation, I worked at PACER Fitness Center at Baptist Hospital (Integris), the SCORE program at St. Anthony Hospital, coordinated a research project on gait re-training for the University of Oklahoma and OCAST (the Oklahoma Center for Advancement of Science and Technology), was an adjunct faculty in kinesiology and health studies at the University of Central Oklahoma and taught aerobics & did personal training off and on pretty much my whole life. Currently, I’m serving on the St. Anthony Foundation Board, the Quail Creek Country Club Board and love being involved with my sorority’s local fundraiser, Fashion for a Passion, that benefits Hearts for Hearing!
Doug and I are members of Christ the King Catholic Church and have love being involved in Legatus, an international organization for Catholic executives, CEOs, business owners and their spouses. Founded in 1987 by Domino’s Pizza creator Tom Monaghan, its primary mission is to help top-level business leaders study, live, and spread the Catholic faith in their professional and personal lives.
We enjoy getting together with family and friends, traveling, golfing, and cheering on the Thunder and Sooners!

Mautra was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Ardmore. She graduated from Ardmore High School and went on to the University of Oklahoma, where she studied journalism and was actively involved in the campus community, especially through the Crimson Club.
After college, she moved into modeling, which eventually took her to California. She built a successful career there, and while she was working, she also earned her MBA from the University of Phoenix San Diego campus and led business development efforts for an orthopedic group, all while staying connected to philanthropic work.
Her career eventually brought her back to Oklahoma, with stops in Columbus along the way, and she continued working across philanthropy, consulting, and higher education. She later earned her doctorate in education from Vanderbilt’s Peabody College, and much of her work focused on helping create opportunities and pathways for students. In 2022, she was named president of Oklahoma City Community College, becoming the first woman and the first person of color in that role. Her appointment also made her the first AfricanAmerican female to lead a non-HBCU institution in the state of Oklahoma.
Bernard was born and raised in Oklahoma City and attended Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. He went on to Southern Methodist University, where he was active in student leadership and had the honor of being elected both student body vice president and later student body president.
After SMU, he earned his law degree from the University of Notre Dame and began his legal career in Columbus, Ohio with Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, practicing commercial and labor and employment law. He later returned to Oklahoma to join
McAfee & Taft before moving into academia at Oklahoma City University School of Law. Initially as assistant dean, he was later appointed associate dean for admissions and external affairs where he led the school’s admissions and fundraising efforts. Under his leadership, the law schools saw its strongest credentialed, most diverse classes at that time, as well as unprecedented fundraising successes.
From there, he was appointed district judge for Oklahoma County in 2012. And in 2015, he became the first person of color in Oklahoma history appointed as a United States Magistrate Judge. In 2019, he was nominated by the president and confirmed by the United States Senate to a lifetime appointment as a United States district judge for the Western District of Oklahoma in a vote of 913. With this appointment, he became the first African-American male and only the second African-American in Oklahoma history to receive a lifetime appointment as a United States district judge.
Our Marriage Story
We met in high school at a state student council convention. Bernard was representing Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School, and I was there from Ardmore High School. On our very first encounter, he walked up, introduced himself, and confidently told me he was going to marry me in 2005. I laughed and even joked about getting a restraining order, but there was something about his confidence that stuck with me.
We got to know each other throughout the conference and dated on and off afterward, but long distance during high school and then college made things difficult. He was at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and I was at the University of Oklahoma. We eventually transitioned into friendship and stayed close throughout college, keeping in touch even as life took us in different
directions.
Afterward, I moved to California to pursue modeling and continue my education, while Bernard went on to law school at Notre Dame. Even with the distance, we stayed connected, and over time our friendship only grew stronger. Eventually, life brought us back together in a way that made perfect sense. And yes—we got married in 2005!
Our Marriage Secret
For us, a successful marriage requires alignment. We don’t have to agree on everything (and we don’t), but we recognize the importance of sharing the same core values and we want the same things out of life. Being aligned on the big things—like our faith, children, goals, priorities, and vision for the future—helps us make decisions together and work through challenges as a team, as partners. It gives us a sense that we’re building toward something together rather than pulling in different directions. Over the years, we’ve learned that this shared commitment has been and continues to be one of the most important foundations of our relationship.
Although we have many passions, we are most passionate about serving others and creating opportunities for people who didn’t have the same advantages we did. Our faith is a big part of that—it shapes how we see people and reminds us to love and serve in a real, practical way.
Having grown up in and walked through hardship, we know how much it means when someone steps in, believes in you, or opens a door. We’ve never forgotten these moments; they shape how we live and help to define our marriage. At the end of the day, we just want to use what we’ve been given to help others move forward— through mentorship, service, or creating opportunities that give people a real shot at something better.
Our Backgrounds
Frank’s career has been one of lifelong public service. Initially serving in the Oklahoma House and Senate for nearly 9 years, he then began working for President Reagan as both the assistant secretary of the Treasury (overseeing all of its law enforcement agencies: The Secret Service, Customs, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Trade) and assistant secretary of the Justice Department (overseeing all of its law enforcement agencies: The FBI, DEA, US Marshalls, and the Bureau of Federal Prisons).
Under President George H.W. Bush he served as deputy secretary and general counsel to the Department of Housing. In 1995, he was elected the 25th Governor of the state of Oklahoma. The OKC bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building occurred just 3 1/2 months after taking office. He served the people of Oklahoma as governor for two backto-back terms.
Upon completion of his terms, he became CEO of the American Counsel of Life Insurers and then CEO of the American Bankers Association. He is the author of six award-winning children’s books. Cathy’s life has been one dedicated to family, community and she has had varied professional experiences.
Attempting to balance family and work, Cathy has owned a small home restoration business, worked for the National Speakers Form, U.S. News and World Report and been both on the corporate board of Express Employment Professionals, as well as the chairman of philanthropy for Express Employment Services for 17 years.
As First Lady of Oklahoma, Cathy devoted her efforts to helping Oklahoma recover from the effects of the OKC Bombing, restoring the Governors Mansion and its grounds to its original glory, including
undertaking the building of the Phillips Pavilion, starting a statewide free family festival on the mansion grounds called Septemberfest, just to name a few of her undertakings.
She is the author of In Their Name, the official commemorative volume of the story of the OKC Bombing which was on the New York Times Best Seller list for several weeks; Our Governors Mansions; and Ooh La La, Cuisine of the Oklahoma Governors Mansion, with all proceeds dedicated to each cause.
Cathy and Frank co-authored Love Won to remember the 25th anniversary of the bombing. Cathy continues to be active in the community serving on the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum Board of Directors where she is the cofounder of the organization, The Annie Oakley Society, which pays tribute to the women who build our communities.
She and Judy Love co-chaired a capital campaign for Mercy Hospital to build the Love Family Women’s Center. Cathy is a founding board member of Palomar Family Justice Center and continues to try to make a difference in the lives of others.
Our Marriage Story
We have been together for 53 years and counting. We met on a blind date arranged by Cathy’s childhood friend and her husband who was clerking for Frank at the courthouse in Tulsa when he was an assistant district attorney. Cathy had just graduated from OU and Frank had just moved back home to Tulsa after completing law school and serving in the FBI. He was not only serving as an assistant district attorney, but he was also embarking on a successful bid for the Oklahoma House of Representatives. We were married 7 months after we met. Our daughter Carrie was born 11 months after we were married, followed by
Kelly who arrived 21 months after that. Chip popped into our lives 4 1/2 years later.
Our lives have been filled with lots of adventures, fun and like every family, a few challenges along the way. But make no mistake, we have loved being parents and are so grateful to have three fabulous adult children who married three fabulous individuals and they have blessed us with 11 living grandchildren and one angel.
Our grandchildren range in age from Catie, who is 23 to M.K., who is 8. Catie is currently performing on a Broadway Theater national tour. Hadley has recently graduated from University of Georgia and is working in NYC at CNBC. Will is a senior at the University of Oklahoma, pursuing a business degree. Emma is a nursing student at South Carolina, where her younger sister will join her in the fall.
Cousins, Callie and Matthew are rising juniors in high school. Mary Frances and Frankie are rising freshman. Coleman is going into eighth grade, and M.K. will be a third grader. They are all very active in sports and community service. AND they love THE THUNDER!
Our Marriage Secret
For us there isn’t one golden nugget that makes our marriage work. Communication, understanding and the willingness to not give up on each other when the going gets tough is paramount to our lasting relationship. But being supportive of each other’s goals in life has made our journey fun and interesting. Plus we share the same loves: family, community, travel, curiosity and finding humor at every turn of the corner. Our 53-year journey has been incredibly wonderful.
Our Special Interests
Our greatest passion is our family. Always has been and always will be.

We have spent our entire adult lives in Oklahoma City and are proud to call it home. Throughout the years, we have stayed involved in our schools, churches, nonprofits, neighborhood associations, and public service because we believe in giving back to our community. One of our favorite sayings is: “The difference between making a living and making a life is giving back to your community.”
Our Marriage Story
We met on the night of Mark’s 25th birthday. We both arrived with dates, but ended up talking to each other all evening. The next morning, Mark called
Debbie at 7:30 a.m., and the rest is history. We have now been married for 44 years. On our 42nd anniversary, Debbie looked at Mark, smiled, and said, “It only seems like 84 years!”
Our Marriage Secret
We have always shared many of the same interests and enjoy spending time together. Whether it’s traveling, hiking, biking, fishing, reading, or serving our community, we genuinely enjoy doing life together.
Our Special Interests
Go Thunder!
We also love traveling to Chicago to spend time with our grandson, which is always an adventure.
