people into these hard to fill positions, we anticipate they will stay and grow in our organization.” According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Oklahoma City is tied with Salt Lake City for the lowest unemployment rate reported for large metropolitan areas across the nation.
Nichols Hills Mayor Peter Hoffman shared good news during the October city council meeting when he announced a gift to the city to develop a new park along Grand Boulevard in the heart of the city. “I am pleased to announce a generous gift from Tom and Judy Love in the amount of $1.5 million to create the Love Family Park,” said Hoffman. “Nichols Hills is thrilled to have this beautiful new addition as it will add immeasurably to the quality of life for all of our residents. We are forever grateful to the Love family for their unparalleled generosity. What an extraordinary act of philanthropy.” The gift from the longtime Nichols Hills residents is set to be used to create a park situated along the north and east sides of Grand Blvd between Huntington Avenue and Bedford Drive. A $200,000 Endowment Fund is to be used for park maintenance and upkeep. The city will maintain the park. During the meeting, the council unanimously approved an application by the Love family to adopt the park, along with an agreement for professional services with HFSD Landscape Architecture. The Park is designed by landscape architect Scott Howard, principal partner with HFSD Landscape Architecture. “Our aim is to prepare the detailed construction plans during the next month and then begin the bidding process before year end,” said Mayor Hoffman. “Hopefully, we can award the bids in early 2022 with Park construction beginning around February or March of ’22.” Hoffman said the city has a goal to complete the project by spring 2023.
