Go Red for Women Luncheon to feature compelling cardiac arrest story By Rose Lane Editor The compelling story of a local woman who suffered cardiac arrest while driving will be told during the American Heart Association
Oklahoma City’s Go Red for Women Luncheon. The event is set for Oct. 22, at the Meinders Hall of Mirrors at the Civic Center Music Hall. The 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. affair also includes entertainment from a
keynote speaker. Chairmen for this year’s Go Red for Women movement are cardiologist Dr. Ron Sutor and bank executive Mary Blankenship Pointer. Ann Lacy is serving as an
honorary chair and Lou Kerr has been named the 2021 Go Red for Women Ambassador. Pointer, senior vice president at Frontier State Bank, lost her father at a young age to a cardiac episode and said
she does what she can to make sure other children don’t have the same tragic experience. She also served as chairman of Go Red for Women in 2018. See GO RED, Page 14

If you enter the Cleats for Kids locker room, you will see sporting goods from every youth athletic activity imaginable, activewear and high-end sneakers from brands like Nike and Hoka overflowing from every corner of the Oklahoma City space. However, Stacy McDaniel, executive director and former lawyer, could have never imagined her concern as a sports mom would have such a far-reaching effect on the children of Oklahoma. McDaniel spotted a need for sporting gear in 2011 when her children were playing basketball at a local community center. Ten years ago, McDaniel started Cleats for Kids out of her home garage, with her husband, Mark. “We noticed that several of the kids (at the center) treated the center as their landing pad
