Lake Hefner tees off on improvements New sod, six acres of grass sprigs and a new irrigation system this fall are part of Lake Hefner Golf Club’s plan to make improvements and help the turf recover from the winter’s historic cold snap. “The extreme temperatures this February damaged every golf course in Oklahoma City and Hefner suffered the most out of our municipal courses,” said head golf professional Brad Sliauter. “We understand it’s been frustrating for golfers and we’re working on it. “We’re making improvements now to make the experience better for golfers during See GOLF, Page 3

First Americans Museum opens on Sept. 18 Tickets are now on sale for the grand opening of the First Americans Museum (FAM), set for Sept. 18-19. The celebration includes entertainment, cultural demonstrations and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Due to expected large crowds, all tickets for grand opening weekend must be purchased online and in advance of opening weekend. The museum’s website is famok.org. Tickets are $5 per person, per day. Admission for FAM members and children under 3 is free.

NWOKC Chamber to host Bice District 5 Congresswoman Stephanie Bice is set to meet with members of the Northwest Oklahoma City Chamber for a small business roundtable on Friday, Aug. 13, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Project 3810. Bice plans to discuss a variety of issues important to business owners, managers and entrepreneurs in the area. The meeting is part of a Day in the District with stops in different parts of northwest Oklahoma City arranged by the Northwest Oklahoma City Chamber for Bice.
