Wilkinson unopposed in Village Ward 5; two vie for Ward 4 By Eric Oesch Staff Writer Village Mayor Sonny Wilkinson, 36, drew no opponents in his reelection bid for the Ward 5 City Council seat and will automatically retain his position on the council.
Since 2015 Wilkinson has represented the residents of Ward 5 during three two-year terms. He was unanimously reelected mayor by The Village City Council in May 2021. He previously served as Mayor in 2018. The office of mayor is rotated annually among members of the City

Lake Hefner Drive closed through the end of March Lake Hefner Drive along the north side of Lake Hefner (aka the Dam Road) is closed to all pedestrian and vehicle traffic, including cars, motorcycles, scooters, bicycles, and other non-motorized vehicles so contractors can repair cracks and repave parts of the road. The closure also extends to use of the sidewalk. City officials expect the road to re-open March 31, pending weather or other delays. Construction barriers have been
placed on the dam road entrance at Britton Road on the west side of Lake Hefner and adjacent to the northeast parking lot on the east side of the lake. Only contractor trucks and vehicles with the Oklahoma City Utilities and Public Works departments are allowed access during construction. For more information about the closure, contact Brent Ward with the Oklahoma City Utilities Department at (405) 297-2422.

Lane closures are expected on northbound Penn Avenue and eastbound Memorial Roads later in the project. Motorists can anticipate lengthy delays and congestion and should plan extra travel time in the area.
