Welcome Week is an exciting tradition that kicks off your school year! On move-in day, upperclassmen empty your car and carry your belongings to your room. During Welcome Week, you will also learn “Ka-Rip”, take part in KARIP WARS and participate in “THE WALK.” It’s the perfect introduction to your journey on Bison Hill! Also during Welcome Week, SERVE SHAWNEE brings together 300 student and employee volunteers to collaborate on meaningful community service projects.

The Milburn Student Success Center offers support for academics through tutoring services and study groups, learning skills improvement and research assistance.

CAMPUS HEALTH AND SAFETY Campus safety features include well-lit walkways, security cameras, emergency systems and security patrols.

Through the OBU Rapid Messaging System (RMS), students, faculty and staff receive timely notifications via phone and email about weather, emergency and safety situations.

The Kemp Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic offers mental health support, providing a safe space to help you face the new challenges of college life like managing academics, balancing social life and navigating independence. The OBU Police Department provides 24/7 security with CLEET-certified officers, OLETS-certified dispatchers, 300 surveillance cameras, blue-light phones and controlled ID card access to buildings. OBUPD also provides walking escorts, minor vehicle assistance and collaborates with local agencies to prioritize your safety. The Career Development Office provides resume workshops and career fairs to help build your network and launch your career. Comprehensive Wellness and Health Careers As an ESSR major, you’ll explore how exercise, nutrition and recreation impact wellness, mental health, disease prevention and injury recovery. The program prepares you for careers in health and fitness, with a strong foundation for advanced studies in physical therapy, occupational therapy and athletic training. OBU’s ESSR program partners with other universities for guaranteed admissions into graduate programs, including a unique agreement with Oklahoma State University’s Center for Health Sciences, offering top students guaranteed entry into their Master of Athletic Training program. Recent ESSR graduates report a 99% acceptance rate among those who apply to graduate programs in ESSR fields.

The Exercise Science Lab further builds your skills in assessing VO2Max, lactate threshold, strength, power and agility. NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS Endowed Scholarships – Grants awarded based on unmet demonstrated need and other financial aid student is receiving. Allen Scholarships – Scholarships awarded to students from Western Oklahoma, based on unmet demonstrated need and other financial aid student is receiving.

DENOMINATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS Church Partnership Program – OBU will match up to $1,000 per year from any Baptist church or association. Church Staff Dependent Scholarships – For children or spouses of currently employed, paid, professional denominational ministers of Baptist churches, associations, state or national conventions. Elliff Scholarships – Awarded to students who have affirmed God’s call to career missions with their local church and who can commit to attending OBU Missions Fellowships and Forums. $500 per semester. Prospective students can visit okbu.edu/elliff-center/scholarshipapplication. MK Scholarships – Guaranteed 50% tuition in OBU scholarships. Children of current IMB or NAMB missionaries. Louise M. Prichard Scholarships – Ministry majors in the Herschel H. Hobbs School of Theology and Ministry.

TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS Transfer students qualify for academic scholarships based on previous college GPA. Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships – Scholarships awarded to transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa.

TALENT SCHOLARSHIPS Band Awards – Non-music majors who are members of Symphonic Winds may apply. Visual and Performing Arts Scholarships – Students who major in voice, keyboard, instrument, music composition, art or theatre.

BISON BOUND SCHOLARSHIP Students who complete an official campus visit from outside the state of Oklahoma will receive a one-time scholarship of $2,000 while students who visit from inside the state of Oklahoma will receive a one-time scholarship of $1,000 if they visit by the published priority deadline.

FAFSA COMPLETION SCHOLARSHIP Students who submit a FAFSA to OBU by the published priority deadline will receive a $1,000 FAFSA completion scholarship.

ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP Students majoring in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering may be eligible for an engineering scholarship from OBU. Find out more by talking to your admissions counselor.

NON-RESIDENT SCHOLARSHIP Students attending OBU from outside the state of Oklahoma will receive a $2,000 out-of-state award.

OKLAHOMA’S PROMISE + BISON PACT How does free tuition work? OBU’s Bison Pact makes private Christian education affordable for families who qualify for Oklahoma’s Promise. OBU covers the remaining tuition and general student fees after other state, federal and OBU aid have been applied.
