WELCOME WEEK is the exciting kickoff KA-RIP WARS to your journey on Bison Hill.

On move-in day, upperclassmen greet you at your car and carry your belongings to your room – a first glimpse of the community that defines OBU. You’ll learn the legendary “Ka-Rip” chant during Ka-Rip Wars (pictured here), and take part in The Walk, experiencing the spirit and traditions that connect generations of Bison.

You’ll also join more than 500 students and employees for Serve Shawnee, working side by side on meaningful service projects across the community.

Students promote physical health, performance and wellbeing, while demonstrating faith-driven discipline, teamwork and perseverance in their careers.

Comprehensive Wellness and Health Careers As an ESSR major, you’ll explore how exercise, nutrition and recreation impact wellness, mental health, disease prevention and injury recovery.

The program prepares you for careers in health and fitness, with a strong foundation for advanced studies in physical therapy, occupational therapy and athletic training. OBU’s ESSR program partners with other universities for guaranteed admissions into graduate programs, including a unique agreement with Oklahoma State University’s Center for Health Sciences, offering top students guaranteed entry into their Master of Athletic Training program. Recent ESSR graduates report a 99% acceptance rate among those who apply to graduate programs in ESSR fields.

Advanced Learning in Health Sciences In this program, you’ll gain hands-on experience in our Human Performance Lab using advanced tools like the BOD POD®, ECG and metabolic cart. The Exercise Science Lab further builds your skills in assessing VO2Max, lactate threshold, strength, power and agility.

Whether you’re looking for a personalized, one-on-one experience or a high-energy group event, we offer two visit options designed to meet you where you are: Personalized Campus Visits are available most weekdays, these visits are tailored to your interests and goals. You’ll start with a welcome session, then explore campus alongside a student ambassador. During your visit, you’ll meet with a professor in your area of interest, learn more about student life and involvement, and connect one-on-one with your admissions counselor. Every part of your visit is designed to help you envision your future at OBU. Bison Day is an immersive, full-day visit experience designed to help you see life at OBU firsthand. Your day includes a welcome session, chapel with the campus community, sitting in on a class, meeting with academic leaders in your area of interest, lunch in the cafeteria, a guided campus tour, and Life on the Hill, where you’ll explore student life and ways to get involved. Along the way, you’ll meet the people who will support you academically, spiritually and personally.

No matter which option you choose, your visit will be informative, encouraging and personal, because finding the right college home matters.
