SCRATCHING FOR ANSWERS

Okanagan Indian Band has two Home Care Programs which are delivered to community members over the age of 19 living on reserve. Both programs are offered to assist families in providing care to help keep community members at home as long as it is safe and reasonable to do so. Both of the programs offer short term respite service. The Adult in Home Care is a program which provides assistance with keeping the home safe while offering companionship and monitoring. Other duties such as home management and assisting with meal preparation will be client focused. Home and Community Care offers some of the day to day upkeep tasks along with personal care such as bathing, dressing, mobility, medication monitoring, companionship and exercises.

Thursday, May 15, 2014 6:00 pm Head of the Lake Hall Snc’c’amala?tn and the OKIB Health Department are holding a seminar, entitled Scratching for Answers which will provide up-to-date information on what works, and what doesn’t. Happy Birthday to Adrian and Kimora Head Start and 3 to 5 Year Old Dayin May. care With hot, sunny days we like to play outside and explore our beautiful neighbourhood. The babies wear hats outside, every day, all year long. We do this for sun protection and to get in the good habit of wearing a hat. A child may take off the hat a hundred times and we simply help them to put it back on. Children who are over one year will also have sunscreen lotion applied when the UV rays get high. This year we hope to get a few vegetable plants in our garden and maybe some berries too. Congratulations to Mary Marchand for completing the Infant and Toddler Specialty training at Okanagan College. She will be away for a few weeks at a Practicum placement in another daycare centre and we’ll miss her while she’s gone. We are proud of you, Mary!
