Louis also stated, “(sport) gets them off the couch and gets them out to become healthier. Especially in this day and age with cellphones and iPads, we encourage all youth to get out and become part of a team or just enjoy sports in general.”

Vernon December 4th, 2018 - Elder Virginia Gregoire opened with a welcoming prayer for the MNP National Torch Relay at the Vernon Halina Senior’s Centre. Celebration stops are a smaller scale event where the flame will finally rest for the games. The torch began in Ottawa from the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill and will visit 40 communities before arriving in Red Deer for the Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Games on Feb. 15, 2019.
