UNITED | AS ONE What a novel idea! What a tremendous Biblical concept! Algebra may teach that the whole is equal to the sum of the parts; however, scriptural dynamics unveil a different story. From preschool days we extol the value of teamwork. Yes, individualism is important – but together, in one mind and in one accord – accomplishes far greater results. What can be achieved through unity? What happens when “the people” have a mind to work? In childlike terms, what takes place when we “all” pull together? If we are to have a state-of-the-art camp for the NEXT Generation of leaders in Oklahoma, it will require a team effort. I believe the task is doable, but only with God’s help and the combined efforts of every believer, every pastor, and every church! That is why I am so passionate about SUNDAY – NOVEMBER 7! Together – the walls will be built! Together – new facilities will stand as a monument to a miraculous God! Together – victory will become a reality! Together – WE WILL IMPACT THE NEXT GENERATION! Linda and I believe this is the hour and this is God’s time for a new camp that will demonstrate our commitment to future generations. Please pray with us and together let us agree for VICTORY – CELEBRATION SUNDAY! May every church in Oklahoma set aside time and allow our people the opportunity of becoming NEXT GENERATION PARTNERS. IF NOT NOW – WHEN? IF NOT US – WHO? PARTNERS – for the NEXT Generation,

Everett McKinley Brown
February 28, 1933 - August 25, 2010 Everett Merle McKinley Brown went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Everett was born on February 28, 1933 in Bartlesville, OK to Howard Weber and Edith Alma (Jane) Brown. He attended Bartlesville Public Schools, graduating from College High School. On March 25, 1953, Everett and Loy May Osborn were united in marriage at the First Assembly of God Church in Bartlesville. Everett always loved the Lord and wanted to serve his Savior, Christ Jesus any way he could.
IN LOVING Evelyn started preaching at 14 years of age. She received her License with the Oklahoma Assemblies of God on May 24, 1943 and her Ordination in 1955. Evelyn held revivals in many Oklahoma churches and served as pastor at Timber Ridge, Mazie and Catoosa. Evelyn is survived by her brother, James McClellan and wife, Billie of Flower Mound, TX , and nephew, Larry McClellan and wife,

CHURCH BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION RESOURCES
Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) www.ECFA.org “Founded in 1979, the ECFA provides accreditation to leading Christian nonprofit organizations that faithfully demonstrate compliance with established standards for financial accountability, fund-raising, and board governance.” While membership may be a bit of overkill for many ministries, the ECFA’s website is packed with tons of resources and articles to assist the CBA in his or her job functions.
BY KEVIN CONNER, MBA Several years ago I heard Dave Ramsey give a keynote address to a conference for church business administrators (CBA). Yes, those types of conferences exist; and yes, they are as interesting as you would think they might be. That day Dave addressed the crowd, and affectionately referred to the event as a “conference for church nerds.” His comment drew a roar of laughter from everyone; largely because we knew how correct he really was. In the local-church context, it is the pastor(s) which are often out front, leading the charge, casting the vision, equipping the saints, and mobilizing ministry. It is quite often the CBA (volunteer, parttime, or full-time) sitting in the back office making sure everything in the ministry is legally compliant, financially accountable, and properly insured. Often seen as the nerd on a ministry team; it is the CBA who is always concerned with background checks, liability release forms, reimbursement receipts, and payroll issues. For the tried-and-true CBA, being seen as the “church nerd” is really a badge of honor. We know and take seriously our job to protect and properly administer the assets of the church. We know it is our job to ensure that the leader’s vision is not only accomplished, but that it is accomplished above reproach. The job of the CBA is one that requires a great deal of knowledge in a number of important areas. In many respects, the CBA is required to act as a human resource generalist, accounting expert, retirement planning advisor, insurance specialist, and legal compliance officer. It is a big job, requiring knowledge across a broad range of important topics. Laws affecting churches are continually in flux (i.e. new Health Care Reform laws). As a result, many of us are often looking for practical and reliable resources to help us do our work effectively and properly; with the most accurate and up-to-date information available. Below is a listing of several resources I have found extremely valuable over my years as a CBA. I hope you find them practical and useful in the administration of your ministry.
WEB-BASED RESOURCES
“Church Law and Tax Report” by Christianity Today International & Richard Hammar, JD., LL.M., CPA www.CHURCHLAWTODAY.com This subscription-based website provides “the most extensive online legal library specifically for churches and clergy,” and costs only $78.00 per year. Along with gaining access to the extensive online legal library, subscribers receive weekly emails from Church Law Today covering a variety of relevant, legal, and tax related topics for ministers and churches. A/G Church Administrators Yahoo! Discussion Group http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/AOGCAA/ This is a free e-group which provides a platform for CBAs across the country to ask questions, share resources, and gain insight from others performing the same job. Members of this group represent churches of all sizes. Questions are always relevant, and the information provided is always instant and helpful. The most valuable aspect of this group is that it is a platform designed and contributed to by individuals currently working as CBAs.
BOOKS
Both of these books are updated and published annually, and both are considered to be standards in the world of church business administration. These books are an absolute MUST on the desk of every CBA. “2010 Church and Non-Profit Tax & Financial Guide” by Dan Busby, CPA
“2010 Church & Clergy Tax Guide” by Richard Hammar, JD., LL.M., CPA
ASSOCIATIONS
National Association of Church Business Administrators (NACBA) www.NACBA.net “The NACBA is an inter-denominational, professional, Christian organization that exists to serve the church by promoting highest levels of professional competence.” This organization has a decades-long track record of equipping CBAs with relevant and up-to-date information. The NACBA annual conference is a tremendous resource, providing the most up-to-date information,

It seems to be more of a reality today in the USA. The Hispanic churches of Oklahoma are growing in number of preaching points and in members. God is truly blessing. The unity of churches working together and helping each other is one of the keys to the growth we are experiencing. The island of Cuba has been a dark spot in the Caribbean for decades. Closed to the gospel of Jesus Christ since the 1950’s, spiritual darkness has grown deeper and hope has seemed out of reach. However, due to a recent unprecedented open door into the darkness of Cuba, flickers of light are being seen. Through the Fire Bible project, Global University and the granted permission from the Cuba Minister of Religion, the Cuba Bible College for the training of Cuban pastors is being established. Oklahoma Light for the Lost has committed to be one of the first on the ground level of this most profound, life-altering endeavor. For only $1000.00 a year per student, an accredited Bible School education can be supplied for the Pentecostal pastors of Cuba – just $84.00 each month. Our goal is to fund the first 400 pastors that enroll for their first year in the Cuba Bible College. Hope through the spiritual light in this island nation is penetrating the darkness. You and I can have a tremendous part in this dramatic breakthrough. Join me, and let’s turn on the LIGHT!

what to do with
HALLOWEEN Halloween is a difficult time for Christian and Non-Christian
families alike. Many parents have decided that Halloween isn’t a custom they want their families to participate in, but this creates a conflict for us because our society promotes Halloween with such zeal! In our part of the world, this is especially true because Halloween is very BIG indeed! So the question is, how do we handle Halloween in a way that neither conflicts with our convictions, or unfairly penalizes our children? Here are a few suggestions:
1
Provide a Halloween alternative at your church. Get the kids to dress up like Biblical characters or other kid friendly
costumes, award prizes for best costume, play games, give out loads of candy, and have a mini outreach service that is geared toward kids.
2
Carefully tell your kids why you don’t participate in Halloween. You may want to instruct them to be very careful
about telling others how to celebrate Halloween. If someone asks them why they don’t go out, they are to give a polite answer and leave it at that--they are not to judge or point fingers. We let our example speak for us, and understand that there are others who have different opinions about Halloween, and that’s fine.
3
There are also great neighborhood events such as a “Light the Night” campaign. Hey, what better night can you think of
for going door to door and introducing people to your church and our Lord? After all, they are duty bound to open the door!
4
Don’t refer to Halloween as “Satan’s Holiday.” Jesus made EVERYDAY A DAY TO WORSHIP AND HONOR THE LORD. No
one day is Satan’s day unless we allow it. Finally, please understand that I realize that this is a sensitive subject for many people. Most of us grew up in a time when Halloween was harmless and fun. We have emotional ties to Halloween that have deep roots extending back to our cherished childhood, or the childhood of our children. Such ties are hard to discard. But, I also have a deep personal conviction as a Christian, and especially someone who ministers to children, to shield our children from influences that may arise during this particular day.

Wow, Oklahoma is
blessed with awesome girls who go after God with all their hearts. We gave $500 scholarships to the 6 girls who qualified as Gold Medalists this year. These girls have completed 5 Clubs with honors and finished the Girls Ministries program. During the Friday night Celebration we were honored to have Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen 2010 play the piano and sing during the offertory. Miss Lacey Russ, Cordell, received her very first crown as a 2004 Honor Star. The end of August Lacey went on to win the Miss America Outstanding Teen 2010/2011~ way to go Lacey! Talk of Celebrations! Last week was the beginning of a new legacy for me- my granddaughter, Rylie Moon received her Honor Rainbow award at Calvary Church Tahlequah. I was so proud of her for working so hard and I could already see that crown on her head!

Royal Rangers Now in Moldova
/ ROYAL RANGERS
In July 2010 a Royal Ranger team, Marvin Lemke team leader, Rev. Jim Eubanks (OK), Ronnie Franklin and Randy Woods (NTX) flew to Chisinu, Moldova where they met with Mark Broberg, Eurasia Royal Ranger Coordinator, Missionary Andy Raatz and the Pentecostal church leaders. The team taught a Royal Ranger Fundamentals course and conducted an outpost meeting with class participation. The church leadership embraced the Royal Ranger Ministry with enthusiasm and officially started the Royal Ranger Ministry for the Pentecostal Union Churches in September 2010. In 2011, we plan to take another team to Moldova to conduct a Training Academy and a National Royal Ranger Ministry Camp (NRMC). We are in need of funds to purchase camping equipment and provide translation of material into the Romanian language. A large percentage of the Moldvian people speak Romanian as do many of the people in several other small countries in this area. The team also traveled to Kirovograd, Ukraine to attend a National Royal Rangers Children’s camp. Seeing the excitement of the children and leaders as they entered the praise and worship service at the evening service was exciting. Pray for the children’s ministries in Eurasia.
