Oh Holy Night Time stood still on that historic night when Christ was born. Joy burst forth as the heavenly host proclaimed the announcement, “The Lord has come!” Never again would humanity be held hostage, for the Messiah pierced the darkness by arriving as a babe in Bethlehem.

The awe of Christmas remains two thousand years later. Lights blink an array of brilliance; the sounds of carols flood the airwaves; the aroma of cinnamon and spice fills the atmosphere.

We who have cause to rejoice have discovered that Jesus is the reason for the Season! All the allurement and trappings of December declare the glory of God. “Though He was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.”

May the excitement of that original Christmas find a place of lodging in each of our homes!

Linda and I wish it were possible to wrap our arms around every member of our Oklahoma ministerial family. Our prayer is that every preacher and every member of your household would enjoy –

In Loving Memory

Andrew Cecil Young May 26, 1931 – October 2, 2009 Andrew Cecil Young passed from this life October 2, 2009 at the Seiling Municipal Hospital in Seiling, Oklahoma.

Andrew was born May 26, 1931 in Putnam, Oklahoma to Cecil and Zeta (Foust) Young. He was raised on a farm northeast of Putnam. He graduated from Putnam High School in 1949.

Andrew was married October 9, 1948 to Jewel Dean Valentine at Taloga, Oklahoma.

They were blessed with six children, four girls and two boys, Letha, Keith, Karen, Arla, Sharon and Steve. They were saved in the Roseland Assembly of God Church at the age of 20.

At the age of 21, Andrew was called to preach the gospel. He pastored many churches across Oklahoma. He pastored Red Fork Assembly of God for 22 years. He was ordained

by The Oklahoma District of the Assembly of God in 1955.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Zeta and Cecil Young, and one daughter, Arla James. He is survived by his wife Jewel Young of the home, three daughters, Letha Mayberry and husband Jim of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Karen Sue Petree of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Sharon Stafford Ennis of Taloga, Oklahoma; two

sons, Keith Young and wife Karen of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Steve Young and wife Charolette of Putnam, Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in the Assembly of God church, Taloga, Oklahoma with burial following in Fairview Cemetery, Putnam, Oklahoma. Services arranged

by Shaw Funeral Home, Taloga, Oklahoma.

Rev. Henry P. Jacobs

December 13, 1917 – October 4, 2009 Henry Pat Jacobs, the son of Thomas and Mary Jacobs, was born December 13, 1917, in Rufe, Oklahoma. The Lord called him home on October 4, 2009, at Stilwell Memorial Hospital at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 21 days.

Henry married Edith, who was the love of his life. Their union was blessed with four children, Henry Dale, Randy Neal, Sandy Gale

and Carolyn Sue. Henry was an ordained minister in the Assembly of God churches, serving faithfully for 56 years with Edith by his side. Henry also worked as a master carpenter when necessary to help provide for his family. He enjoyed woodworking and deer hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Jacobs, his loving wife, Edith

Jacobs, infant daughter, Carolyn Sue Jacobs and ten brothers and sisters. His surviving family includes three sons, Henry Dale Jacobs and wife, Tammy, of Buckeye, TX, Randy Neal Jacobs and wife, Brenda, of Stilwell, OK, Sandy Gale Jacobs and wife, Carolyn, of Boynton, OK, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Cecil Eugene Aycock October 12, 1916 – October 8, 2009 AYCOCK, Cecil Eugene (Gene), 92, of Oklahoma City, passed away on Oct. 8, 2009. He was born Oct. 12, 1916 in Capulin, NM to James Albert and Minnie Ella Aycock. The Aycock family moved to Colorado in 1918. Gene graduated from high school in 1935. The family was forced to leave the ranch due to the affects of the “Dust Bowl”. They reunited with family in Cleveland County near Norman, OK to farm.

Sensing a ministerial calling on his life, Gene graduated in 1937 from Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA and began his ministry.

He was ordained in 1938 by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and continued to serve congregations in Oklahoma for 25 years. In 1964, Gene received his teaching certificate and taught at John Glenn Elementary in Oklahoma City for 13 years until his retirement in 1980. He

served in various leadership capacities (including Elder) at Crossroads Church for 40 years. Gene is survived by siblings Mattie Lou Reagan, Gladys Lunow and Don Aycock. He is also survived by children Galen Aycock and Marcia Aycock; grandchildren Matthew Aycock and Melissa Zeager; great grandchildren Emily Aycock and Owen Zeager.

Thelma J. Ward

July 23, 1922 – November 7, 2009 Mrs. Ward passed away early Saturday morning, November 7, 2009 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehabilitation Center in Italy, Texas.

Thelma Ward was born in LaFlore County, Oklahoma to Claud and Camilla (Eubanks) Roark. After graduating from High School and Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie she became a missionary teacher

with Foreign Missions Assembly of God. She married Lee Roy Ward in 1953 in Liberia, West Africa. Upon retirement from being a Veteran Missionary, Waxahachie has been their permanent residence. She was a member of the University Assembly of God Church in Waxahachie.

She is survived by her husband Lee Roy

Ward of Waxahachie, two daughters, Anita Barnes of Waxahachie and Joyce Eden of Clovis, California. Four grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to the University Assembly of God Church Building Fund.

I still get excited about Christmas. What a wonderful time of the year as we celebrate the birth of our Lord. The reality of this event remains so exciting as we join together for the many events during the closing of this year. Actually, it brings us together as we celebrate our Lord during times of worship, fellowship and communion. I must be honest, I have always enjoyed the Christmas parties in the local church.

Sometimes two or three in one night and the food is always delicious, but the fellowship with those we love is best of all. I am thinking of many of those special friends as I write these memories. Some still live close by while others have already made it to their heavenly home, but still I am thinking about them now.

Darlene and I pray that this Christmas will be very special for you and your loved ones. May your joys be abundant and if this is a sad season of your life, we pray today our loving Lord will be especially real to you and bless you with His presence more that any year you have ever known.

Please know we love you and pray for you this Christmas Day.

Erma Bombeck “He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’” Matthew 18:2-4 (NIV) Is there anything more exciting than being a child on Christmas morning?

And yet this is what God asks of us each day, to change and become like little children. Not just on Christmas, but each day approaching our Father, God as a child, with excited anticipation of His goodness, and humbly trusting Him that every need will be met and every care will be under His control.

Christmas is a time for giving and also for receiving. But there is a giving that is not of things. There is a giving of the heart itself. There is the giving of service, of love, of brotherhood, of every thought that makes for good — a giving open to all, however poor our personal possessions may be. It is the feeling and the thought in our hearts which reach people and stir their hearts to a better perception, a better feeling, a wider and stronger action. Let us take advantage of the resurgence of spiritual force that comes with the Christmas time.

We would ask that you do this before December 15.

I would like to share an opportunity with all of you concerning B.G.M.C. The Oklahoma district has set a goal to raise funds to provide 4,000 Northern Asian kids with a toy for Christmas. We do this by providing churches with pictures of the children that they can then put on a Christmas tree in their foyer where the people can give $5 per child, then take the picture and pray for them.

I realize that this is a very close time frame between the time you receive this article and the time the securing of toys is due. The one advantage that we have is that the actual toys will not be sent until January. If you can assist with this tremendous opportunity, please notify us at the District office and we will send you the information. Thanks ahead of time for your assistance in this project.

A second request is that we are asking every church to place B.G.M.C. on their local church budget. We would all be amazed at what could be done if we had 100% participation. Please give us a thought.

RESULTS LFTL Summary 2009 Praise God for an extremely successful LFTL Tour this past October in the Oklahoma District. Faith Promises exceeded the previous year’s Faith Promises by $160,000. Giving history tells us that the actual giving will far exceed the Faith Promises made on tour. We could easily have a million dollar year in 2010 in total LFTL Giving! PTL! Special appreciation goes to Brother Cargill, Brother Salkil, the banquet speakers, the steak teams from Tulsa, Owasso and Lawton, the LFTL Councilmen, all the Sectional Men’s Representatives, the host churches, and all the pastors and laymen that promoted and attended one of our 15 LFTL Banquets in 2009.
