BIENVENUE
welcome
WHO DOESN’T LOVE A GOOD STORY? Storytelling is a big part of what makes us human.
But what happens when your story gets told for you? Or when your story becomes, as Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie puts it, a single story? For a long time, the African narrative has been told on the global stage from a Western perspective. Despite receiving harsh criticism, ridicule
glimps into Nigeria. We learn about Nigerian celebrations, proverbs, foods, and values.
This year we are celebrating #ourstories. What we have learned from the more than 80 screenings since this inception of this festival is that at the end of the day, our stories unite us. Our stories, when told in our most authentic voices, touch the hearts and souls of those once considered foreign and this is when we realize, we are all one.

For many, Flora Coquerel is simply the winner of the 2014 Miss France Beauty pageant. Yet, the co-author of the Documentary Wax in the City is much more than that. She is among other things the president of Kelina, an association that aims at contributing to the well being of Beninese women and children and we are honoured to welcome Ms. Flora Coquerel as this year’s Festival Ambassador.

PRO PANELS
The term Nollywood is everywhere: Nigerian productions have the wind in their sails and as their popularity increases so do the co-production projects involving Nollywood, notably in the United States and England. But where is France? Are there any French/Nigerian co-productions? Are there any co-production agreements? No, well at least, not yet.
The cinematographic relationship between France and Nigeria is as strong as ever. Nollywood was a big part of the President Emmanuel
France and Nigeria will take place in Lagos organized by the French Embassy.
On Friday May 10th at 10am, as part of the annual professional sessions at Nollywood Week, the collaboration possibilities, synergies and potential exchanges between Nigerian and French cinema will be discussed in detail from every angle.
