Yin Kan Hwee, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Distinguished Plastic Surgeon in the Medical field and in acknowledgment of his work with Plastic Surgery Specialists of South Florida.

Dr. Hwee is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in breast and facial reconstruction due to cancer. In addition, he performs all types of cosmetic surgery and surgical procedures related to hand trauma. He has 17 years of experience in medicine, having spent the past decade in private practice.

Working with his partners at Plastic Surgery Specialists of South Florida, headquartered in Hollywood, FL, Dr. Hwee specializes in enhancing appearance. Improving aesthetics, symmetry, and proportion are key goals in cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Hwee completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in Corvallis, OR. He holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. After completing his initial higher education, Dr. Hwee worked for ten years as a consulting engineer before achieving his Medical Degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, where he also completed his general surgery residency. Later, the doctor undertook fellowship training in plastic surgery at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. This unique training background gives him an innovative perspective in his approach to plastic surgical problem-solving. Dr. Hwee has received numerous awards for his work. His honors include a 2015 John Cassell Best Resident Presentation Award at the Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons Annual Meeting, a 2013 Best Resident Paper Award granted at the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons Annual Meeting, and the esteemed John Bostwick Award, which he received at the 2015 Annual Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium. He also gained invaluable experience as part of a surgical team that provided cleft palate and lip surgery to the underserved in Honduras in 2012.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Hwee is an active member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and the Southeast Society of Plastic Surgeons. In his spare time, the doctor enjoys traveling with his family, playing the violin, and keeping fit by playing a myriad of sports.
