Dr. Richter Will . Join 'Spyders,' Light Show Featured College Administration At Washington High Gym May 25 Dr. William B. Richter, principal of San Leandro High School, will join the Ohlone College administration on July 1. . Dr. Richter will become the Director of Community Services. He will be responsible for ·an community services which include the scheduling of lectures, concerts, forums, · and various educational and entertainment events for the community and the college. As director of the Evening Programs, Dr. Richter will be under the supervision of Carl Karasek, dean of instruction. He will be responsible for the administration of all evening and summer session classes. Dr. Richter is a member of three Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Committees,
Solo Cellist To Perform Young Artist Award winner Paul Tobias will be featured soloist at next Monday night's concert of the Fremont Philharmonic Orchestra. The 22-year-old cellist received the award for being the outstanding young performer of the concert season, and has also been the recipient of the Kimber Award, as the result of the annual statewide competition for string instruments. play Haydn's Cello Tobias · Concerto in D major. The program will also include the Fremont Philharmonic, led by 24-year-old conductor William Galbraith, playing Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, and Wagner's Siegfried Idyll. 'rickets for the performance will be on sale at the college bookstore, the Book Mark in the Fremont Hub and at the door. Admission price will be $2.00, $.50 for Ohlone students. The program will begin at 8: 15 p.m. at Mission San Jose High School.

Presentation Postponed The presentation of the Van Haag painting to Ohlone College has been postponed. The painting, a gift from Representative Don Edwards, is a representation of the Mission as it was in 1822. The Van Haag painting is described as a primitive work of the Mission, and is authentic to the smallest detail. The postponement of the }>re::>entation ·of the gift is due to Don Edward's heavy legislative schedule. Don Edwards is scheduled to appear here at 11:00 a.m., May a1: on the main frame porch of the old building.
Bammel OKSteve Bammel, ASOC president, was, at press time, feeling better and able to eat. "If you can call cream of rice and custard eating," said Bammel. He was admitted to Washington Township Hospital last Monday morning, to undergo treatment for a possible bleeding ulcer. As the Herald went to press, Bammel had not yet been told when he would return home, or when he could return to school. In Bammel's absence Diane Healy, ASOC treasurer has been presiding over student government activities. The Herald staff would like to extend its wish for a speedy recovery.
The 'Spyders' and a light show will highlight Ohlone's May 25 dance. According to Carmen Potro; dance chairman, white sheets are needed for the light show. The sheets are to be hung around the gym and are to be used as screens.
The 'Spyders' have played on the same program with such groups as the Temptations, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and Gladys Knight and the Pips. · An assembly will be from 12 noon to 1 p.ni . on the Ohlone campus featuring the 'Spyders' May 23. All students are encouraged to come
out and hear this group. The dance will be 8 p.m. to 12 p.m., May 25, in the Washington High School Girls' Gym in Fremont. The dance will be open to the high school students in the district with proper identification. Admission will be $1.50 with an ASOC card and $2.00 without.
Students-Sign Up for Bond Campaign Work Students are needed to man literature tables in the Hub Mall for the next two Saturdays, May 18 and 25, to promote the upcoming bond election on June 4. Students are also needed . to work as precinct workers to distribute literature to the public, door to door.

Students have volunteered their services in the past to construct and erect campaign signs. As of yet, very little of this support has materialized. Less than two per cent of those who volunteered have actually showed up. More effort to work rather than just volunteering must be shown by

Chairman of the bond campaign, Dr . Holger Rasmussen, will be the guest speaker at a presentation to be held at the Huddleson Ranch (the site for the new Ohlone campus) at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 25. The picnic - type presentation, which is free to the public, was planned previously to be scheduled as a Ball to be held at Linda Vista Park, according to Sherry Brown of the community services department. Rasmussen will give several talks during the afternoon. Free refreshments will also be available to those attending .
