The Million Dollar Mermaid

For Spring/Summer 2018, British luxury shoe and accessories brand Charlotte Olympia dives into the magic and nostalgia of romantic musical ‘Million Dollar Mermaid’ and translates it into a collection underpinned by clean and feminine silhouettes.

Spanning ‘Venus’ poolside sliders and terry cloth mules, as well as wedge sandals and pastel platform courts for shoes, the splendour of the art of synchronised swimming and the golden age of the “aqua musical” is portrayed: leopard print swimming pool tile embellishments, shimmering ‘Marine’ starfish applique, silk satin double knot details and pearlescent caviar Swarovski beading. Ornate seahorse sculpted wedge platforms make a splash with pearl embellishment and ruched organza uppers. Clutch bags are Perspex and explore the playful use of liquid-filled centres for cocktail drink clutches and a mid-century swimming pool design complete with miniature swimmers as accessories.

As they say, “Come on in… the water’s fine”.
