International Day brought many students and teachers together on November 23 during lunch. During break and lunch, leadership students sold tickets at the student bank and the hill. Tickets were priced at 50 cents per ticket and many students exchanged them in order to pay for snacks. Clubs and class boards gathered on the hill before lunch to prepare for selling to the students. Each table was able to maintain covid-friendly by only selling pre-packaged foods and having masks and gloves on at all times. Many tables sold out on their delicious snacks and drinks. Some popular sold out snacks included Acts of Random Kindness’s cream puffs and Pre-Med’s mochi donuts. All the foods and drinks were very popular among the buyers. In the end, many students left lunch with

such satisfied stomachs. Due to covid last year,, we had every club and class board make videos relating to food. The videos were posted on Instagram @oghsasb. We will also be doing that this year and it will be posted on Youtube @OGHS ASB. Be on the lookout for those videos and future events in the future!

Shang-Chi 2024 Shang-Chi Movie Night Movie Night

Class of 2024 presents, Shang-Chi movie night. As it was our first movie-night event held by us, the class board. The turnout for this movie night was outstanding many of the Sophomores and their friends came out to enjoy this night of Thrills and Memories. We had a cut-out for anyone who wanted to take pictures, we were passing out free candy at the beginning, and selling snacks and pizza outside. A lot of people enjoyed the movie we chose since not many have viewed it. We were at the end pleased that we were able to get to see our class come

out to our event. At last a few words from our president, Rylie Contey, “ I think the movie night went well. For our first time hosting an event at school for the class of 2024, it wasn’t bad. It was a good movie choice, I think people enjoyed it and I definitely enjoyed it. Thank you to the 2024 class board, the movie night turned out wonderful because of them!” Be on the lookout for any sophomore events coming soon! We were so happy that everyone who attended enjoyed it!

Despite finals and the warm weather, Oak Grove ASB and leadership were on a mission to embrace the holiday spirit! Oak Grove ASB hosted a Christmas version of our regular Chill on the Hills where each class board prepared a decorated and personalized tree to represent their class. The four trees stood next to OG’s traditional, massive Christmas tree, creating the perfect scenery for students to capture pictures with one another. The hill was crowded with students and staff admiring the fake snow falling from the top of the stage

Who knew that the world of esports was insanely popular and massive in audiences ranging from all ages. Those who aren’t into gaming might have a perception that gaming or games in general are a waste of time, but that is not the cause at all. In fact, games like CS:GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) and League of Legends have built an impressive community since its launch and with its global success, has led to tons of new opportunities for the esports corner of the world. One of those new opportunities are esports tournaments. Bigger companies like EA Sports, Riot Games, and Blizzard have organized their most popular games into competitions, allowing organizations like 100 Thieves, Cloud 9, and many others to hire and sign players, turning them into “pro-player”. These tournaments seem to bring in lots of engagement and offer people from all over the world a chance to play with different types of people, and that was the main goal of the Esports Tournament hosted by Oak Grove. We wanted to branch the tournament out to the entire East Side Union High School District, in order to obtain sign-ups from students from different schools rather than just Oak Grove. Our main worry was that students weren't going to sign up, but to our surprise, people did! Thanks to our advertising on Instagram, we were able to catch the interest of over 200 students, many of which were students from other schools in the East Side. Having reached our main goal and receiving much support and advice from other schools’ esports club members, as well as planning as a team, we were able to deliver a successful event this year. Though our tournament and the LIVE event wasn’t as grand as Valorant Champions, an international tournament hosted by the game’s developer, Riot Games, it still brought a new chapter to high school esports in general. Maybe one day, high school esports will be just as hyped as traditional Oak Grove High School events like Beats & Eats, V.S.U (Vietnamese Student Union) Show, and more!

After being on a break due to COVID, Oak Grove band took advantage of this year's school year to bring back their phenomenal performances and represent our school in competitions! Here is a word from an Oak Grove student in band:

"The music and memories are both things I can treasure for a long time from the 2021 year of marching band. During this year, I took a position to be the Drum Major for our marching band and watched everyone in it grow and learn. Personally, I learned many different things outside what my range of education might have been Additionally, I learned skills that will prove to be useful throughout life. Our last and final competition/show had

improved drastically from our first time performing at a football game We all contributed great amounts of time towards working harder for our show and each other. As a group, we accomplished not only awards, but also a stronger bond with one another. After the season ended, we performed and marched around Oakridge Mall while we played music in the spirit of Christmas Additionally, we then performed in our winter concert. Playing music and performing for an audience proved to be satisfying as well as positive emotions. Being in the Oak Grove marching band not only is fun but also delightful!"

Vietnamese Student Union took the opportunity to take over Oak Grove's casual Chill on the Hill to celebrated Tết, also know as Lunar New Years! The club filled Oak Grove's campus with lanterns, Vietnamese music accompanied by a choreographed fan dance for attendees to enjoy. Students and staff got the h i the Vietnamese culture ances, events and music. whelmed with students onal attire, áo dài. The Eagle Eye took part in Oak Grove's Valentine's Day festivities this year by selling personalized and customed top loaders to hold photocards! Each top loader came with the student or staff's picture of choice as a high-quality printed card and a decorated card slip with stickers. Journalism was inspired to decorate top loaders popularized by Korean Pop culture. Fans are known to decorate top loaders to show off photo cards included in K-pop albums. The decoration stickers did not look like typical stickers purchased from sticker books but were actually aesthetically pleasing ribbons cartoon characters, and bubble lettering. Journalism was delighted to make Valentine's Day lovely for all, as we received over 100 orders! We hope to turn top loader decorating into a tradition. See you all next year and we hoped you enjoyed your Valentine Grams!

VSU's annual culture show is by far the biggest event planned and hosted by OGVSU! Due to COVID the last two years, we were unable to plan and perform a culture show under those circumstances. Despite this setback, we could not be more proud of how our show went this year. All the time and effort put in gave this year's show the chance to show a variety of dances, singing, fashion shows, and the skit! In order to prepare an entertaining and clean-cut show, participants attended weekly practices to their respective performances. The dedication and commitment of each and every participant is what allowed this year's show to be a success. Every year, the show has a theme, this year's theme and title being "I Am Grateful For..." To compliment that, our

skit this year was centered around being grateful for family, specifically the mother figures in our lives. Lam's mom, played by Kathy Lu, struggles with the responsibilities and expectations of being a single parent to her son, so when her son, Lam, asks for the new, expensive pair of shoes, Jordan's, her love as a mother shows through her sacrifices of even her own health. Although this year's show has passed already, continue to look forward to watching or even performing in next year's culture show! It is not only an opportunity to represent our culture, but is also an opportunity to build so many unforgettable memories. We're grateful for you guys and all of these memories. What are you grateful for?

students showed up and had lots of fun at Midtown. There were many food stands hosted by clubs such as milk tea from VSU Club, churros from Pre-med Club, and much more! There were also trucks such as Kona Ice, including shaved ice with many delicious flavors, and Martha’s Catering, which sold Mexican food. The balloon artist was invited once again and free for all the attendees and was one of the most popular booths there. Additionally, the Sadie’s Dance featured a bright, colorful, glow-in-the-dark theme that complimented the lively scenery. The music provided by Kyle Contey brought a lot of excitement and everyone danced to the music on the dance floor. Saving the best for last, Folklorico Club walked onto the stage with beautiful outfits and danced the night away. In the end, Sadie’s Dance was a huge success and we hope to see you all again at the next one!
