Written By OGHS ASB On Saturday, November 16, our Night in Neverland Homecoming was one of the most successful and decorated homecomings to ever happen at Oak Grove. Taking place in midtown, there were many vendors and performances by our fellow classmates accompanied by music and fairy lights to brighten up the night! The balloon artist and photo booth was free for all attendees and were the most popular booths. Clubs set up tables to sell snacks, drinks, and other goods and many sold out! There were a total of 5 performances that occurred during homecoming including KPOP/Choreo Club, Filipino Student Union, Christine Nguyen, Emma Delaphine, and upcoming Bay Area Rapper ArokiPapi. Each club and individual worked very hard to practice their performances so it was great to see it all play out.

ArokiPapi’s attendance was a surprise for the community who enjoyed the guest performance. Coming from a hiatus, it was rewarding to see everyone at our first homecoming in two years! Although there were no guests allowed, students were still very excited and energetic about this homecoming, over 600 students showed up! Overall, homecoming was a fun event that everyone enjoyed, with many things to do and experience! We hope to see you all at the next one!

Written by The Eagle Eye Committee Oak Grove’s annual Halloween Fest is back to it’s traditional ways! Coming back from a virtual school year, Halloween Fest bought together trick-or-treaters to Oak Grove’s student parking lot on Eagles Lane. On Friday, October 29, all Oak Grove clubs and class boards held game booths and handed out candy to the community. Games such as basketball, musical chairs, mini-golf, and more raised the Halloween spirit of little princesses to inflatable dinosaurs! In addition, Oak Grove also held our annual Halloween costume contest where 15+ contestants went against eachother to determine the best costume and win a $20 Costco giftcard. Crowd cheers at the hill determined the winner who was Rudy Raja dressed up as Colonel Sanders. Oak Grove would like to thank all Halloween costume contest participants and Halloween Fest attendees. Through these community events, Oak Grove strives to bring an unforgettable Halloween experience to all!

Candy & Cruella Written by 2025 Class Board Cruella Movie Night!! People hanging out with friends, eating lots of candy, and having a fun time. It was a fun break from the stress leading into the end of the grading period. This movie night has helped a lot of students let loose and take their mind off of everything. Students enjoyed the movie, which had suspense, action, and plot twists. It came to the point where people were at the edge of their seats trying to predict what will happen next in the movie. The theater had vision, volume, and it gave the feeling of an actual movie theater. It hasn't felt like that in a while with everything going on. COVID has stopped everyone from doing these types of activities: going out, being free to go anywhere, and spending time with friends, but this movie night helped give a chance to the people who couldn't enjoy this type of activity in the past year.

Not only the movie night, but the movie itself has exceeded everybody's expectations of what a movie is supposed to feel like. The exhilaration, the shocking surprises, and the fashion has been built to make this movie a perfect movie to display to everybody in the theater. Overall, the Cruella Movie Night has been a great experience to share with others. In the near future, we hope to show more of these activities at campus.

As an effort to protect children who were affected by World War II, UNICEF was established in 1946. UNICEF's main goal is to protect children. Namely that no children have to die as a result of preventable causes. In other words, UNICEF believes that every child deserves, and should have the right to have a safe and healthy childhood. UNICEF has been constantly working for the survival, protection, and development of children worldwide and is doing so through fundraising, advocacy, and education. They are present everywhere around the world, but are mainly focused on countries that are still struggling to meet the basic necessities for children by providing health care, immunization, access to safe water, emergency relief, and more.

To encourage more participation, major events throughout the year like Trickor-Treat are presented to the communities that also create a stronger bond between the individuals and their communities! Trick-or-Treat motivates participants to donate using the spirit of Halloween! Especially during the pandemic, to the children who are less fortunate to receive the vaccines, Halloween is more important than ever! UNICEF has been helping with the procurement and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to different communities around the world in an effort to end the pandemic. This year, OGUNICEF is hoping to raise more money than ever with the goal of $700! Our plans for this Halloween are to encourage everyone to buy snacks on The Hill, participate in our Happy Lemon fundraiser, and to collect coins to help us in the process of supporting children around the world!

October Comic: Eagle-O-Lantern By Kaelyn Nguyen and Mailan Vuong

Happy Halloween Eagles! Hopefully, Halloween was a blast and you all got your day’s worth of candy! On October 16, our Homecoming, Night in Neverland, attracted many students! The night market hosted by many clubs offered foods ranging from pandan waffles, milk tea, mochi donuts, and many more! During the week of Homecoming, we held a spirit week that led up to the dance. Students came to school in their spirit wear according to each day: Monday-Blackout vs Whiteout, Tuesday-College and Career, Wednesday-On Wednesdays, we wear pink, Thursday-Sports Thursday, and FridayClass Colors Friday. Music played throughout the hill as students gathered to take pictures. We showed our support for Breast Cancer Awareness by decorating our Chill on the Hill in all pink. There was a game featuring Squid Game’s Red Light, Green Light. Students raced to the finish line and some were soaked from the water balloons when eliminated! On October 29, many students gathered on the hill to watch the voting for a Halloween costume contest. The top place winner won a Costco gift card. Our community event, Halloweenfest, was a huge success! Many young students around the neighborhood came dressed in costumes and participated in mini games hosted by the clubs at our school. The kids won a bunch of candies and prizes! Finally, International Day is approaching! During lunch, clubs will come together to sell drinks and snacks, and even feature some cultural foods. Look forward to that on @oghsasb on Instagram for more information. Bring some money and bring your friends to try some new delicious snacks. We hope to see you there!

HEY HEY HEY EAGLE NATION! My name is Zachary Wong and I serve as your ASB Finance Officer this year :D Since our last issue, we’ve held our Homecoming dance, football game, parade, and Halloween Fest! The participation, turnout, and energy at these events were phenomenal and I couldn’t dream of better events to mark my senior year. As for my other jobs, I’m captain of the Boys’ Tennis team! Our season starts in the Spring, and I can’t wait to see my team out on the courts as I play my final season at Oak Grove. As winter approaches, I want everyone to know there’s always someone you can talk to at Oak Grove. Not just teachers, but students too. I remember in my Freshman and Sophomore years, I became friends with my table-mates in all my classes. Although we became distant over the years, coming back to school brought these bonds back. Now I’m shaking hands, fist-bumping, or talking to people I never thought I would talk to again. No matter the distance, a single word or action can create a connection that lasts throughout your high school career! Thank you all for your time, and I hope to see you all at our future events!

-Zachary Wong
