OG Sports Make a Comeback Written By Trang Ly and Vivian Pham After a long hiatus due to the pandemic, most Oak Grove sports have resumed in the two spring seasons. For the first time in Oak Grove history, all sports are happening at once! Long awaited sports such as football, soccer, basketball, volleyball are officially open for play. Speaking of playing, JV Football and Women’s Volleyball recently held their first home games a couple of weeks ago. Varsity football brought home a victory from their first away game against Overfelt High School and JV football came to a close loss against Piedmont Hills. Games took place with safety protocols to

ensure the health of all players and attendees. Audiences are limited to 1-2 family members per athlete to minimize the amount of people present. At this point general attendees are not allowed, so even though you are excited about all the sports happening, you cannot come to watch. Season two (which comprises 10 other sports) is in preseason right now and will begin in mid-April. If you have any further questions regarding your sport, contact Coach Huck or Coach Young with your concerns: huckr@esuhsd.org youngr@esuhsd.org. We wish all Eagle athletes a fun and safe season!

OGHS Written By OGHS ASB Last week, we had our first ever basketball tournament on NBA2k! Traditionally, if we were in school, we would be having our annual 3v3 basketball tournament instead of the 2k tournament. However, due to our current circumstances, we had to improvise and have our tournament on NBA2k. Using the blacktop feature of the game, we were able to host a 2v2 game where the contestants followed COVID-19 safety protocols while playing at school. Contestants were allowed to choose players from NBA All-Stars to NBA AllTime Greats and played a game to 21 points. Thank you to everyone who signed up! It was an amazing turnout, and it was uplifting to see everyone enjoying themselves and having fun. Congratulations to this year’s winners, Tyler Contey and Westley Cailles, for earning a $50

gift card, getting their team name on the traditional tournament plaque, and for carrying on the tradition of Oak Grove High School’s Annual 3v3 Basketball Tournament. If you have not subscribed already, please do so at OGHS ASB on YouTube and be on the lookout for the championship game coming soon!

FRESHMEN GAME NIGHT Written By Class of 2024 Board

The Class of 2024 board hosted their second game night last Thursday, March 18th, where attendees played Minecraft and Roblox! The board had tons of fun playing with Mr. Shimshock and a couple other people. Mr. Shimshock and a couple of the board members all played Roblox. Some specific games they played were Speed Run, Tower Of Hell, and The Mimic. The Mimic was

one of their favorite games. Rylie, the class president, also watched a few other Minecraft streams that were going on in separate VCs! One of the main highlights were two board members and Mr. Shimshock getting super freaked out over The Mimic, it was a rather scary game at first. In general, it was a super fun event and 2024 can’t wait to host more in the future! :)

to thank all the players for being cooperative and making the game night a blast! The evening was filled with streams, laughter and fun! For future references, 2023’s events are always opened to everyone from all classes! Everyone from students to staff are welcomed, so don’t be shy to sign up for the next event! We hope to continue to bring Oak Grove’s community closer through these small events!

2023 GOES RETRO AT GAME NIGHT In early March, Class of 2023 Board brought back old memories with a Throwback Game Night! The end of the school year is quickly approaching, so we took the opportunity to revisit past games students used to play. Games consisted of Shell Shockers, Roblox, and Agar.io! The event was hosted through 2023’s Discord server where participants had the freedom to join whichever voice channel and game they pleased. This being our first event through Discord, we would like

and During this quarantine, our club has tried to bring light to the situation we are in by organizing monthly Oak Grove's Acts of Random meetings where we update our Kindness focuses on spreading members about our upcoming kindness and happiness to high events and fundraisers. At these school students around the meetings we also do ARKtivities that community by having projects, involve spreading kindness, whether campaigns, and special ARKtivites it is to ourselves, friends, families, or every month. We began as a small our community. By collaborating club and have greatly grown over with other clubs, such as the years and have been able to InterARKeyCEF we also help our collaborate with other on-campus local community. clubs to grow even more. It is amazing to see so many students join the club, wanting to spread kindness. It is very difficult when you can’t physically spread kindness while quarantining and social distancing, but we are doing our best to do what we love: spreading happiness. It's the little things that count!

OGVSU Brings Local and Minority Owned Businesses To You! Written By OGVSU For the month of March, Oak Grove’s Vietnamese Student Union (VSU) shared a variety of local small businesses on their Instagram for others to support! Especially with current events regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and Asian hate crimes, it is more important than ever to support minorities. Minority businesses contribute and strengthen American economy and communities. They can become awesome alternatives for your large corporate and retail companies. Dating back to 1995, over half of the U.S.’s jobs were created by small businesses. According to the SBA, small businesses created 8 million jobs.

By supporting small businesses, more job opportunities are created. Not only does your money go towards minority entrepreneurs, you can often find ethically sourced and authentic items or food. VSU organized their fliers in four groups, with 1-2 sets released each week. Tune in to receive information about bakeries, restaurants, and much more! Most businesses will be based in San Jose or can easily be found with the internet in your hands. The last 2 sets will continue in April, which can be found on VSU’s Instagram.

Women's History Month Written By Zachary Wong and Trinity Luu The month of March is set aside to honor women’s accomplishments in American history. In 1978, The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women held a “Women’s History Week” celebration.[2] The movement began as a local celebration within the county and quickly spread across the country. Two years later, the National Women’s History Project and a consortium of women’s groups and historians successfully lobbied for national recognition. In February 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued a Presidential Proclamation marking the week of March 8th, 1980 as “National Women’s History Week.”[1] It was not until 1987 that

March was designated as “Women’s History Month.” Since then, the National Women’s History Alliance has selected and published a yearly theme. Due to the fact that many of the women's suffrage celebrations originally scheduled for 2020 were curtailed, the 2021’s theme is "Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing to Be Silenced.” This theme commemorates the battle for women's suffrage, where women fought for the right to vote for 100 years until it was granted in the passing of the 19th amendment in 1920. One can celebrate Women’s History month by recognizing the often-overlooked contributions of women, being aware of the issues women still face today, spreading awareness of Women’s History Month, and much more!
