In a thrilling season finale, the Oak Grove Eagles soared to victory against Santa Teresa, culminating their football season on a high note. The long awaited clash was a spectacle of skill, determination, and team spirit that left their fans on the edge of their seats. From the kickoff, the Eagles showcased their prowess on both ends of the field. The offense executed precision plays, while the defense stood resilient against Santa Teresa’s advances. The ebb and flow of the game created an atmosphere charged with excitement and anticipation. Their coach masterfully guided the team, making strategic decisions that proved pivotal in securing the win. The players’ dedication and hard work throughout the season were evident as they seamlessly executed plays, demonstrating the fruits of their relentless practice and commitment. Oak Grove Premed Club Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Written By Emily Chhuon & Kay Le Leukemia and Lymphoma are prevalent in around 1.6 million people in the U.S. But with the help of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), survival rates have doubled. Although, the average patient treatment will range anywhere from $25,000 to $100,000 depending on the time and the type of Leukemia or Lymphoma. LLS’s mission is to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Since 1949, the LLS has invested $1.7 billion dollars in cancer research which has advanced blood cancer treatments and overall contributed to affordable care.
They serve as the largest funder that contributes to research to advance cures. It’s important to invest now as clinical trials and drugs take a lot of time to develop successfully. To combat this financial burden, OGPremed is donating all of the proceeds from their fundraisers to LLS! We believe this research is crucial to achieving an end to cancer one day. We hope you can continue to support both OGPremed and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to reach our goal!

Dill on the Hill Written by Aivy Dinh In commemoration of National Pickle Day on November 15th, Oak Grove High hosted our annual “Dill on the Hill'' event! Despite the spotty weather, students and faculty alike gathered to witness the event organized and hosted by our ASB. Each class representative and their supporting classmates showed amazing spirit & friendly rivalry in the anticipated competition; the pickle-eating contest! Competing passionately for the grand prize, the Freshman Class representative, Brandon Vides, won an exclusive Oak Grove Dill on the Hill T-shirt. Congratulations! Thank you to everyone who came out to this year's eventful Dill on the Hill, which not only marked National Pickle Day, but highlighted a long-standing Oak Grove tradition, fostering both class pride and community.

OG VSUINTERKEY EVENT
A Thought of Love Written by Kay Le On Sunday, November 12, the Vietnamese Student Union, Interact, and Key Club collaborated to volunteer at a charity event “A Thought Of Love” at the India Community Center. All the proceeds from this event will be donated to organizations to support orphans and the disabled community in Vietnam. VSUInterKey sent 15 students to volunteer at this charity fundraiser! Volunteers helped to set up tables, sell raffle tickets, serve food to guests, and clean up after the event. With over 200+ guests present, our volunteers enjoyed interacting with the Vietnamese community while raising money for a great cause. Furthermore, the 3-hour event consisted of various guest performances and appearances from the beautiful ladies of Miss Vietnam California, VietToday host, Brian Quoc Bao Pham, and renowned singer, Mạnh Quỳnh .
At the end of the event, after all the wonderful performances, the hosts held an exciting raffle from all the tickets bought and collected throughout the event. Guests were on the edge of their seats, hoping to win a grand prize of a brand new iPad, exclusive temple artifacts, and more! With our volunteer support, they fundraised over $32,000 to donate to the Vietnamese community! We hope you can continue to support VSUInterKey at our future events including VSU’s annual Culture Show fast approaching in March!
BASKETBALL SEASON Written by Dylan Vu Hey Eagles! Get ready to come out and support the boys and girls for their basketball season! Especially watch out for their senior nights. Boys Senior night on February 9th against Branham and the Girls on February 13th against Santa Teresa! Each game has an entree fee of $8 but with an asb card you can get in for free! Come out to the games and support the Eagles for a incredible season !
Oak Grove’s Advanced Science Research Club

On November and December 3rd, Oak Grove's Advance Science Research club housed their monthly SOS episodes featuring the founder of Instantis, Tomas Rokicki, and Jessica D'Urbano, a medical doctor from Italy! These hour-long sessions showcased different opportunities that stem students would love! They featured scholarships, internships, and one-toone advice sessions that provided the functions of their jobs and how they got them! ADS (Advance Science Research) did a profound job providing students exposure to the countless different opportunities there are in the world. Make sure to join ADS in their next SOS coming up in January!
Light the Night

To kick off the holidays, Light the Night is an annual event held by Oak Grove where the community comes together to have fun. During Light the Night, clubs come out to sell different foods and snacks as well as host small interactive events such as ornament making and chalk drawing and games like Mini Golf and “Find the Ornament”. Families that come can walk around or even take a ride on “Santa’s Sleigh” driven by Mr. Chung to look at the Christmas trees that each club has decorated. Families and friends then enjoyed the open mic performances as the night began to wind down and even earning a ticket if they performed, to win prizes at the prize booth. All in all it was another successful Light the Night filled with fun and excitement. And we can’t wait for the next one!
LAST RALLY OF THE SEMESTER

To celebrate the holiday season and incorporate some fun before finals week, ASB hosted our annual Winter Rally on December 15th, 2023! Opening with the band and a festivethemed dance performance from our Cheer team, the rally commenced with lots of Christmas spirit. Filled with fun competitions, students earned points for their classes by playing games that consisted of slingshotting presents, competing in velcro soccer, and dropping presents down chimneys. For the first time since Covid, Oak Grove’s very own choir group got the crowd in the Christmas mood with their performance of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You“ with singer Khristian Joseph to carry out an amazing lead vocal. ASB did an outstanding job designing the gym with lots of festive decorations and a beautiful Christmas tree. To bring the Winter Rally to an end, our iconic KPOP dance team pulled off an incredible performance as always, and the band closed the rally with one last song! We want to thank everyone for coming out to the last rally of 2023 and ending the year with so much energy. We cannot wait for the first rally of 2024, and good luck to everyone with finals!
Oak Grove Acts of Random Kindness Club
Custodian Gift Baskets Written By Kylie Gu On Monday, November 13th, 2023, Oak Grove’s Acts of Random Kindness Club held their November General Meeting, which included one of their FAVORITE ARKtivity of the year – their Custodian Gift Baskets!!! Well, what is “Custodian Gift Baskets”? Essentially it is an ARKtivity where ARKERS get involved in writing heartwarming and appreciative messages to the custodians and place them on a decorative tri-fold!! Additionally, the ARK board created personalized baskets filled with goodies like mugs, flowers, chips, trail mix, hot chocolate, and a letter for each custodian!! The ARKtivity was a huge SUCCESS, as we were able to write 30+ wonderful notes to the custodians.
The custodians’ reactions were priceless when they saw the baskets and trifold!! We would like to thank all who came out to support and help write personalized messages and notes to the custodians. We hope you guys enjoyed this ARKtivity, and look forward to our future ones!!!
