The mission of Ogden Museum of Southern Art is to broaden the knowledge, understanding, interpretation and appreciation of the visual arts and culture of the American South through events, permanent collection, changing exhibitions, educational programs, publications and research.

Restrooms are located on the second and fifth floor.

Please no flash photography or smoking (including e-cigarettes).

Bag check is not available at this time. Visitors should carry their bags on their side or front.

No food or drink is permitted in galleries.

Everyone 2 and older must wear a mask while visiting the Museum, regardless of COIVD-19 vaccination status. Your mask should be worn at all times and cover both your mouth and nose.

SHOP THE SOUTH The Museum Store and Center for Southern Craft & Design are open during regular Museum hours. You will find a unique selection of regional art, books, jewelry, children’s items and more! Museum members receive a 10% discount on all purchases.

ACCESSIBILITY

Service animals are welcome at Ogden Museum.

All restrooms are equipped with baby changing stations.

All levels of the Museum are accessible by elevator, including exhibition spaces and public facilities.

The front entrance to the Museum and all restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

For your comfort, manual wheelchairs are available for checkout on a first-come, first-served basis.

Large-print materials and verbal description services are available with at least one week’s notice.

Ogden Museum of Southern Art and The New Orleans Chapter of The Links, Incorporated introduce the 8th annual HBCU Art Showcase, created with the goal to spotlight works of art created by students attending Louisiana’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities and provide an opportunity to celebrate those artists.

Spell, Time, Practice, American, Body explores RaMell Ross’s inquiry into Hale County, Alabama — the subject of his 2018 award-winning film, “Hale County This Morning, This Evening,” while also investigating Ross’s broader formal and conceptual languages that emphasize his everyday experiences. Featuring large-format photography, film and sculptural works, this exhibition offers a fresh methodology for documentary storytelling, particularly from and regarding a multifaceted Black experience.

Christian Dinh created Nail Salon with the intention to redirect stigma and celebrate VietnameseAmerican identity by confronting racism, stereotypes and underrepresentation.

Drawing from the Ogden Museum of Southern Art’s premier collection of works by Benny Andrews, this ongoing exhibition celebrates one of the South’s greatest voices in the visual arts.

This citywide contemporary art triennial will feature more than fifty artists in over fifteen venues throughout New Orleans and will include newly commissioned works alongside the work of historically significant artists.

Selections from the Permanent Collection of the Ogden Museum are currently installed on the third and fourth floors of Goldring Hall. Ranging from 19th century Bayou School landscapes to Vernacular Art, these exhibitions celebrate the depth and breadth of the Museum’s holdings. Featured is a new installation of Benny Andrews paintings and collages, as well as works by Richard Clague, Ellsworth Woodward, John McCrady, Kathleen Blacksheer, Thornton Dial Jr., Howard Finster, Clementine Hunter, Walter Anderson, Alexander Drysdale, Julian Onderdonk and others.
