OFF THE WALL GALLERY AT DIRTY FRANK’S

Off the Wall Gallery’s 11th Annual Juried Exhibition, PETS, seeks outstanding artwork that focuses on our best non-human friends but reaches beyond just cute photos. Some ways to imaginatively consider our theme include:  What does a pet mean to your life or someone else’s? After all, we know that pets abolish loneliness, improve human health, teach responsibility and extend families.  Can you use a pet’s fur or feathers as part of your medium?  Is there a special way you remember a pet you lost? Can you use an object of remembrance, such as a toy or collar, as a starting point of creation?  Think about a pet’s vantage point and his or her habitat within a home.  What’s a favorite game? A place to curl up? A special way of communicating?  And then there’s meal time, not to mention snacks in between.

The jury will accept artists based on the quality of the work as presented electronically and a brief, two-sentence statement to the jury.

SIZE LIMIT :

Through October 22, 2015, we’re accepting submissions in all media—2D, 3D or multimedia—meeting two size requirements: 48 ” height + width 2D work when framed must be no larger than 48 inches in when framed combined dimensions (height + width); and 3D work cannot be heavier than 15 pounds. You must supply images on disc or ϔlash drive, with a list of titles, framed dimensions, media, prices, a statement and an entry fee of $5 per work. No entries of actual work will be accepted.

Failure to meet the deadlines listed below can result in rejection of accepted pieces and forfeiture of prizes. All shipping and transportation costs are the responsibility of the artist or any parties acting on behalf of the artist.

Thursday, October 22, 2015 A complete entry, including digital images, a list of titles, media, framed sizes and prices, as well as a statement to the jury explaining how your work relates to the theme, must be received on CD or lash drive by 12 midnight at Dirty Frank’s with suf icient cash payment for all entries ($5 per work).

Thursday, November 5 If your entry is accepted, you will be noti ied by e-mail on or before this date, at which time you will receive all contractual and logistical information.

Saturday, November 14 Physical work must be delivered wired and ready to hang/install at Off the Wall Gallery (NE Corner, 13th & Pine, Philadelphia) between 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon.

Thursday, November 19 The Opening Reception will take place from 7 to 10 p.m., including the announcement of up to $500 in cash awards, made at our jury’s discretion. In addition, the Mary-Rowe Memorial Best of Show Award winner will be invited to headline the 2016 Autumn Invitational.

Sunday, December 27 The exhibition closes; all unsold work must be picked up between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., or it will go into paid storage (fees begin at $40 per work).

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

You may submit as many works as you wish at $5 per work.

Jurying will take place from digital images on disc or ϔlash drive.

The following criteria apply to all submissions:

Size your images properly. Please limit each ile to one megabyte or less. Optimally, you should should submit JPGs that are 1000 pixels on the longest dimension.

Title your images clearly, with names that make sense and correspond to actual titles.

Include all the information we need (so we don’t have to return to you with questions!): titles, framed dimensions, media, prices and a statement connecting your work to the theme.

Please note that we retain all ϔiles, on the assumption that the CD or lash drive on which the digital images have been submitted is not unique in any way and does not need to be returned.

SALES

The artist understands and agrees that all work exhibited is for sale. Prices must be clearly stated and cannot be changed after acceptance. Off the Wall will encourage sales and retain a 30-percent commission on all work sold.

Acceptance and any jury awards will become null and void if the Gallery deems the artist is not acting in the best faith. We will take into account failure to submit accurate information, late delivery, work not matching the submission or not wired and ready to hang, and deviations from agreed-upon pricing or policy.

Send or drop off entries and cash payment to: Off the Wall Gallery c/o Dirty Frank’s 347 South 13th Street Philadelphia, PA 19107

Most entries are dropped off. To do so, come to Dirty Frank’s between 11 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. (last call) seven days a week. Entries received after last call at the end of Thursday, October 22, 2015 will not be accepted under any circumstances. Please remit cash payment with your entry.

Art not sold during the exhibition must be picked up only on Sunday, December 27 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., unless prior arrangements have been made. A $40-per-month storage fee will automatically apply to each work not picked up accordingly.

By submitting this entry, you are accepting the following standard ‘Waiver of Liability’ statement included in all Off the Wall artist contracts: I, the submitting artist, understand that neither the management nor any employee or volunteer of Dirty Frank’s Bar or Off the Wall Gallery is responsible for any damage to work while participating in this exhibition.
