OFFSHORE ORIGINS

LOOKBOOK 2025 FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

ABOUT

Growing up along the shores of Lake Huron, I’ve always had a passion for the water. But it was during my time surfing on the Central Coast of California that I began to observe water in a different way, noting the subtleties and appreciating its energy. After moving back to my home state of Michigan, I became immersed in the blossoming surf culture of the Great Lakes. It was here that my photography journey began, documenting surf days on the lakes.

As my techniques and vision progressed, I began to view my photography as an art. This eventually led me to creating Offshore Origins as a platform for my work. Capturing waves in the final moments of their journey, far from their creation serves as the inspiration for the name.

I appreciate the dynamic scene of water. Each wave presents a unique canvas. Revealing incredible detail that can’t be observed in real time is what I love about photography. I hope my work provides the viewer a new perspective on the beauty of our Great Lakes.

BLURRED LINES

Beneath a chaotic facade, the Great Lakes hold a dreamy waterscape. This collection seeks to reveal these hidden scenes, highlighting the long, smooth lines often lost in the windswept surface.

SURFACE

A smooth, yet undulating lake surface becomes a canvas for light. The perfect stage for a sunset dance.

MINI MAGIC

Jump into the lake and get eye level with the captivating world of mini waves. These subtle swells rise from a calm surface, as if created by a glass artist. An intricate relationship between water and light. Tranquil, yet dynamic. Get lost in these fleeting moments of reflection.

MEGA MAGIC

Two session days when my surfboard takes precedence over my camera. Once I get my fill of waves, I’m back out in the water with my water housing, seeking to capture those breathtaking views that I just enjoyed while sitting on my board.

SIDEWAVES

An exploration of perspective, the Sidewaves collection challenges the imagination. Tiny waves turn into abstract works of art that invite the viewer to form their own interpretation. The strong contrast and luminescence created naturally, shot after sunset when the lake darkens but the surface still reflects the afterglow.

CHROMALUXE METAL PRINTS

ChromaLuxe is the global manufacturing leader of premium dye sublimation media. Dyes are infused directly into specially coated aluminum sheets, creating a long-lasting, scratch resistant, and waterproof surface with extraordinary clarity and archival quality. I use a white base, creating incredible color vibrancy with some images taking on a seemingly luminescence effect.

Optimized for photography and engineered to last a lifetime, the high-performance photo panels can bring even the smallest details to life.

FINISHES SIGNATURE BACKSTAMP

I am happy to now offer three surface finishes to acheive your ideal look and feel. Gloss produces a modern look with unsurpassed detail and vibrance, but can result in glare depending on the location’s light sources. Matte produces a smooth, even and soft appearance with reduced glare, while still maintaining rich colors. Looking for that happy medium... semi-gloss is for you!

In addition, all images can be printed on special ChromaLuxe EXT panels, which include additional UV inhibitors making them ideal for outdoor applications. They are available in both gloss and matte finish. These prints are resistant to graffiti, chemicals, scratches, and moisture. This is not a standard option on the website.

Each of my prints come marked with the Offshore Origins wave logo in the bottom right hand corner. I decided to use this as opposed to my signature as this encompasses my passion for this pursuit best.

On the back of each print is the signature backstamp, which includes my signature, company name, image name, collection, and edition number if part of a limited edition.

LIMITED EDITIONSINSTALL SIZING & CUSTOMIZATION CARE

Prints come ready to hang with an inset aluminum frame, resulting in a float mount 3/4” off the wall. No need to worry about framing. French cleat and screws are included. Sizes marked as Limited Edition (LE) are part of an edition run totaling 75 combined prints. Once 75 prints have been made, any size marked as limited edition will no longer be printed.

For outdoor or commercial applications, T screws can be used to secure the aluminum frame to the wall. This serves as protection against wind forces and would prevent the public from being able to remove the print.

Although I feel my standard product offerings are the best way to display my imagery, I realize that personal preferences and location requirements vary greatly. That’s why I’m always happy to explore customization options, whether that be alternative sizing or framing.

Metal prints can be printed up to 96” x 48” on a single sheet! This allows me to meet nearly any size requirement, especially when it’s a multi panel print. I look at each project on a case by case basis and will only proceed when confident a quality product can be delivered.

To aid in the process, I utilize digital mockups of YOUR space to help visualize variations under consideration.

Most of the time, the only thing you will need to clean your metal print is a basic microfiber cloth. A simple wipe will remove most dust and fingerprints. Do not use anything that is abrasive such as paper towels to clean your prints as they can cause tiny scratches. For more stubborn stains, a little bit of denatured alcohol or acetone applied to a microfiber cloth will do the job. Over time, prints can collect dust so it is a good idea to wipe down your prints about once a month to keep them looking their absolute best. Care must be taken before prints are installed to not bend the print edges.
