MArch is Women's History Month

Women’s History Month is the celebration of the contributions and experiences of women and how they have contributed to historical events. Women have always played a formative and critical role in the development and management of the modern American public library. In fact, the “mother” of the Palm Beach County Library System is Ingrid Eckler, who fought tirelessly in the 1960s to expand library services in a growing Palm Beach County. Women have also been important figures in the arts, business, culture and sciences throughout history.

Women’s History Month was officially recognized and established by the U.S. Congress in 1987, celebrated annually during the month of March. Look for the icon throughout for activities that highlight Women’s History Month.
