Julbert leads Task Maven Services, a rapidly growing remote assistant staffing company with over 150 professionals across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America. He is also a partner at Meridian 84 Advisors, a private equity firm in Atlanta focused on acquiring healthcare and construction management companies across the U.S.
Julbert hosts the "Small Biz Tips Show," a podcast with an international audience in over 25 countries, where he shares insights from inspiring entrepreneurs. Beyond business, he donates his time to nonprofits like Kinder Smile.

Emil Acolatse 2009 Chemistry
Emil Acolatse, Senior Researcher at ExxonMobil, was born in Accra, Ghana, and moved to Philadelphia at age eight for better educational opportunities. His passion for helping others led him to found Free Inspiration Reaching Everyone (F.I.R.E.), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports communities in Philadelphia and Ghana through mentorship and resources. In recognition of his impact on youth in Philadelphia, Emil received the 2016 Made Man Award. Emil has organized initiatives like a basketball tournament in Ghana and the "Ghana to the Moon Business and Technology Conference" in collaboration with the World Trade Center Accra. His annual Inspiration Weekend features philanthropic efforts such as sneaker donations and the installation of computer labs in Ghana.
In 2022, Emil was awarded the University of Pennsylvania Medicine Community Hero award, expanding his nonprofit’s reach to the Dominican Republic and Zimbabwe. He is currently developing a Shea Butter manufacturing plant in Ghana, with a mission to connect global resources to local opportunities.
Kamala Brown
Kamala is the Regional Operation Manager of Allied Security for the Pennsylvania and South Eastern US Regions, having been with the company for more than 14 years. She is also the Director of the Springfield Mall, the first black woman to hold this position in the mall's 50 year history.
Kamala's fundamental goal is to serve others to help them become the best version of themselves by adding essential elements needed in their toolkit for life. After graduating from Cheyney, Kamala initiated a homeless student fund at Cheyney to help those who struggle with a place to stay during the academic breaks.
Diamond is the Senior Director of Practice and Impact for Global Kids Inc. Prior to joining Global Kids, Diamond served in the Peace Corps education sector in Comoros.
In 2020, she received the Peace Corps Franklin H. Williams Award. She is currently a program facilitator for Black Birthright which takes high school students to the continent of Africa and board member of Statement Junky, which gifts girls of color their passports.
She serves as the President of National Council of Negro Women Inc. Manhattan Section and National Assistant Recording Secretary.
During her time at Cheyney she was a student leader on campus serving in several capacities. This included Cheyney University Marching Band auxiliary team, member of track and field, Class President, Student Government Vice President, Resident Advisor, and NCNW Cheyney University Collegiate Section President.

Christopher graduated summa cum laude with a political science degree from Cheyney, where he served as the campus' NAACP chapter president and student government president while also being the trumpet section leader of the Soulful Sound Marching Band. During his time as president, Christopher organized the student body in a successful campaign to protect the school's multiple scholarship programs from being cut. After Cheyney, Christopher graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he helped establish the Derek Bell legal clinic to help local Pittsburghers find free legal service.
Today, Christopher works for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, covering Pitt's football and men's basketball teams, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers. Christopher has won both national and local awards for his breaking news, investigative journalism and excellence in audio journalism. Christopher also is the host of the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is a regular sports personality on WPXI, Pittsburgh's NBC station. There, Christopher is a regular guest on the Final Word, and is a co-host of the station's Friday evening high school football highlights show, Skylights.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Khaalis Carter is an entrepreneur and financial consultant. He was formerly an account associate at JT Goldstein. Now, he is the chairman and CEO of Stay Vigilant.
Carter was initiated into the Beta Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in 2017. In the same year, he graduated from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania earning his bachelor’s in business administration with a concentration in accounting. In addition, Carter earned his MBA from Bloomsburg University in 2020.

During his time at Cheyney University, Dominique played three sports and excelled in each. In basketball, he earned 2nd team All Conference, was the 15th all time leading scorer in school history, had over 600 career rebounds, and over 100 career blocks and steals. In football, Dom set conference records for the longest touchdown reception, had over 150 career receptions, over 2,500 career yards and 15 TD’s. He earned Conference Rookie of the Year, 3X All Conference honors, 1X and pre-season All American. In track and field, Dom ran the 100m, 200m and competed in the long and triple jump. He earned All Conference by being a member of the 4X100m relay team.
Dominique played 3 years in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions, and Carolina Panthers. Dom continues to actively contribute to the NFL Players Association, NFL Alumni, and NFL Headquarters in NYC. He is currently a doctoral candidate and remains a pillar within his community by coaching High School and youth football and working with The Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative.

Davis was raised in Camden, New Jersey, and began acting as a student at Creative Arts Academy. A 2009 cum laude graduate of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, Davis earned a degree in Theatre Arts.
After graduating, Davis had his breakthrough role when he appeared in the 2017 film Detroit. In December 2018, he was cast as Luke in the Joseph Cross-directed film Summer Night, and in May 2021, Davis was cast as George Foreman in George Tillman Jr.'s 2023 biopic Big George Foreman.
In May 2022, Davis was cast as Biff Loman in Miranda Cromwell and Marianne Elliott's Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman along with Wendell Pierce, Sharon D. Clarke, and André De Shields.
Ashley D. Diggs is a multi-media industry leader, one of few media professionals to have worked in every type of media outlet—newspaper, magazine, digital, radio and television.

Starting at Cheyney in 2002, Ashley wrote for the Cheyney Record, joined Student Government, became a Keystone scholar, and was initiated into the Delta Iota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
With over 15 years of media experience, Ashley D. Diggs has published articles in The Washington Post, The Washington Informer, and in The AFRO Newspapers. Now professionally known under the moniker “Ashleigh Demi,” Demi has executive produced CBS Radio’s WNEW 99.1FM & WPGC 95.5FM, "News One Now" with Roland Martin on TVOne, hosted with Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, co-hosted on FOX5’s Good Day DC, WJLA’s Good Morning Washington and WUSA’s Great Day Washington.
Ayoka Fajardo, MPA
Ayoka Fajardo serves as the Principal Advisor to the Chief Operating Officer at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). In this capacity, she provides support to agency leadership in a wide range of areas including facilities management, continuity of operations, strategic planning, financial planning, budgeting, contracting, human resource management, information technology, quality assurance, and performance measurement.
Prior to this role, she held the position of Associate Director of Agency Operations at FHFA. Mrs. Fajardo obtained her bachelor’s degree from Cheyney University and her master’s degree in public administration from Pennsylvania State University. Throughout her career, she has received numerous accolades for her innovative ideas and cost-saving efforts in IT program management, as well as for her advocacy of diversity and inclusion.
Cara Fantini
Cara Fantini is a class of 2018 graduate from Cheyney University. She is a Spring 2017 initiate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Delta Iota Chapter and is currently an active member of the Omega Omega Chapter based in Philadelphia. After graduating from Cheyney, Cara pursued her graduate degree and matriculated a with Masters of Education in Higher Ed from Temple University in 2022.
Within the Omega Omega Chapter, Cara has served as the committee co-chair for the “HBCU 4 Life” initiative and the annual MLK Day of Service. Cara currently works as the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Research & Enrichment Programs at Drexel University and is an Adjunct Professor for the Pennoni Honors College. She is passionate about promoting diversity in academia and research, as well as mentoring young women.
Brittany FoxWilliams, PhD
Brittany Fox-Williams, PhD is a Sociology Professor at Lehman College, City University of New York (CUNY) and a member of the Doctoral Faculty at the CUNY Graduate Center. Dr. Fox-Williams’ research examines racial inequality among youth in the U.S. education and justice systems. Her work has received generous funding support from the National Science Foundation, the Russell Sage Foundation, and Trinity Church Wall Street. She was recently selected for the prestigious Russell Sage Foundation Visiting Scholars Program. Dr. Fox-Williams earned her BS in Business Administration from Cheyney University, her MPA in Urban Policy from Columbia University, and her PhD in Sociology from Columbia University.
At Cheyney, Dr. Fox-Williams served as President of the Delta Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta and President of the Senior Class. She was the 2008 Class Valedictorian, a member of the Keystone Honors Academy, and one of two finalists for the PASSHE Ali-Zaidi Award for Academic Excellence.

Charles is a film, television, and theatre actor who made his presence known in various films like Creed, Creed 2, Glass, Stomp the Yard 2, House of Cards, For Life, and 21 Bridges
While at Cheyney, Charles participated in Cross Contry on an athletic scholarship, served as an R.A. for Yarnall Hall dormitory, and was member of student goverment (S.G.C.A). Charles is preparing to launch his production company and non-profit organization for Philadelphia's inner city youth.

During his tenure at Cheyney, Eric became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. by way of Cheyney's Delta Pi Chapter. Eric was elected Vice President of FAMU Law’s Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Society (EASLS).
Since 2020, Eric has served on the Young Lawyer's Division's Steering Committee for the Black Entertainment & Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA), becoming the first and only law student in the organization's 44-year history to have a position in leadership.
With a passion for sports and entertainment law, Eric's ultimate goal is to secure a position with a professional sports organization or franchise.

Dominique Byars Hubert is a proud second-generation graduate of Cheyney University, where she earned her degree in Recreation and Leisure Management in 2007 Dominique holds a Master's Degree with dual certification from Lincoln University and earned her certification in Administration and Supervision from Indiana University of Pennsylvania
With over 16 years of experience in education, Dominique began her career at Global Leadership Academy Charter School in West Philadelphia. Starting as a teacher assistant, she steadily advanced to classroom teacher and later to special education teacher. Throughout her career, she has taken on leadership roles, including Team Leader for the Positive Behavior Incentive Support (PBIS) Program, Sponsor of the Junior Honor Society, and Lead Teacher for the After-School Program.
Beyond her professional duties, Dominique is actively involved in her community She has volunteered at her church’s Vacation Bible School and serves on her sorority's HBCU for Life, Sisterly Relations, and Fashion Show Committees Dominique is a member of the Delaware County Alumni Chapter, and a Life Member of the Cheyney University National Alumni Association
Mia Keeys is Global Health and Innovation Director at Hologic, Inc., a women’s health innovation company Formerly, Mia was Chief of Staff and Health Policy Advisor to Congresswoman Robin Kelly (DIL) Later, Mia became the American Medical Association’s inaugural Health Equity Policy and Advocacy Director Mia has been an HIV/AIDS researcher in South Africa She was the first graduate of Cheyney University awarded the prestigious U S Fulbright Fellowship She completed her fellowship in Indonesia, where she lived for three years.

Desmond King is a proud alumnus of Cheyney University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. He further advanced his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration from Lincoln University in 2021.
Currently, Desmond serves as the Marketing Project Manager within the Office of Communications at the Philadelphia Housing Authority.
Desmond is the Public Relations Coordinator for the IAmARoleModel Youth Empowerment Program and holds the position of Director of Publicity for the Nu Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Desmond is also a dedicated member of the Philadelphia Cheyney University Alumni Chapter and serves as the church clerk at St. Phillips Baptist Church in Philadelphia.
Robert Lay, PhD
Rob Lay, a Pittsburgh native, is a photographer, educator, and author. After Cheyney, he shifted from a career in auditing to education, earning a Master's and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Temple University.
During his studies, he became a published author with his book, The Mydas Touch In 2017, Rob built the Residence Life program at Penn State Abington from the ground up, while also teaching classes. He created the LOVE.LIFT.LIFE scholarship, awarding four scholarships between 2017 and 2020.
In 2019, Rob reignited his passion for photography, launching TheRealRobLay Photography. Today, he mentors aspiring photographers and continues to grow his studio.
Dr. Khalid Y. Long is the Associate Dean of Research and Creative Endeavors and an Associate Professor of Theatre Arts at the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts at Howard University.
A scholar, dramaturg, and director, Dr. Long specializes in African American/Black diasporic theatre, performance, and literature through the lenses of Black feminist/womanist thought, queer studies, and performance studies.
Among his scholarly publications, his books include Contemporary Black Theatre and Performance: Acts of Rebellion, Activism, and Solidarity and August Wilson in Context.
Dominique McDaniel is an Associate Director of Biostatistics at Merck, where she currently works in the Immunology group. Dominique earned her PhD in Biostatistics from Drexel University and completed her undergraduate studies in Mathematics at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from West Chester University and a Master of Science in Mathematical Statistics from Purdue University. Prior to her doctoral studies, Dominique worked at Eli Lilly & Company in Indianapolis, IN. Her research interests include Bayesian & Spatial Statistics, Clinical Trial Development, and Causal Inference. In addition to her scientific contributions, Dominique has made a significant impact on diversity and mentoring programs within the statistics community. She is also a passionate advocate and speaker on diversity and STEM-related topics.
Vinasia Miles is a proud alumna of Cheyney University. an entrepreneur, educator, and thought leader with passion for driving innovation and transformative change. Currently pursuing an Ed.D, she is dedicated to expanding her expertise in shaping organizational culture strategic growth. As a professor and consultant, Vinasia empowers individuals and organizations to reach full potential. With a focus on strategic development, has a proven track record of guiding clients towards goals. Her ability to build strong relationships and inspire action has led to recognition from prominent outlets such as Forbes, Essence, and BET. Beyond academia, she is successful entrepreneur leading her consulting practice, Heir Visions and co-founder of Forbes Culture. Her multifaceted career is a testament to her unwavering dedication to creating positive impact, driven by her faith and commitment to excellence.

Johnny Montina is an accomplished talent manager with extensive experience in the music industry. He has successfully managed high-profile artists, including Grammy-nominated rapper Tierra Whack, as well as emerging talent like Sam Truth and top producers such as Ric and Thadeus and J Melodic. As Tierra Whack's manager, Johnny played a key role in securing major festival, tour, and concert bookings through collaborations with United Talent Agency. He also provided strategic guidance on PR and marketing for Interscope Records. Johnny was responsible for managing 7-figure budgets related to production and touring, leading to successful brand partnerships with companies like Vans, ELF Cosmetics, Apple, and Lego. Johnny has also managed key collaborations and negotiated royalty and publishing deals for top producers. His leadership extends to overseeing creative teams, budgets, and schedules across a variety of projects in the entertainment industry.
Isaac, a native of Pittsburgh, PA, is the CEO of DMV Does Good, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to alleviating homelessness and food insecurity. Since 2020, provided food, clothing, and toiletries to over 3,000 families. Isaac also serves as the Regional Director of Development at Michigan State University, where he secures major philanthropic commitments from private sources across the USA to help students stay in school. A first-generation college graduate, and his MPA from Penn State. He is a Prince Hall Freemason and an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., the Cheyney University National Alumni Association, and the Penn State Alumni Association. His commitment to service is deeply rooted in his dedication to God.
Kyle is the founder of The ECO Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. After a near death experience in 2013, he dedicated his second life to spreading love and empowering others. ECO has provided low cost housing for dozens of young adults, connected thousands of families to healthy food, offered employment opportunities to over 50 youth each quarter, and offered over $10K in scholarships to Cheyney University students since 2020. Like ECO, his mission is to work collaboratively with the people we serve to provide education, healthy food, and employment opportunities. This work was sparked at Cheyney which also prepared him for his first two master’s degrees at a school founded in 1854, and to be a doctoral candidate at Temple University. Kyle’s doctoral research explores how edutainment can improve the academic experience for Black students. Additionally, he works parttime at Cheyney as a program specialist for the TRiO program.
Dantawn Nicholson, a Chicago native, is a Principal Product Manager in Exelon’s Corporate Customer Operations department, where he is responsible for developing and executing the billing and payments product vision and roadmap to benefit the company’s 10 million customers across the Midwest and East Coast. While attending Cheyney University Dantawn founded two organizations named The Brotherhood and The Sisterhood, to assist students with their matriculation through college. Dantawn continued his education at Villanova University where he became the first African American male in the country to receive a master’s degree in Sustainable Engineering in 2014. Dantawn is also the founder and Executive Director of the Boss Up Foundation, a nonprofit organization, where their mission is to build confidence, promote integrity and spread more love amongst our youth and throughout our communities.

Stephanie Orji, MPA MEd
Stephanie Orji serves as President of the Cheyney University Washington D.C. Metro Area Alumni Chapter. The basketball and track and field athlete graduated as Presidential ScholarAthlete, PSAC triple jump champion, and Academic AllAmerican.
She is first in Cheyney track and field history to qualify for the NCAA National Championships. Upon graduation she earned an MPA from West Chester University and later an M.Ed. from Johns Hopkins University. Steph Orji is a 2014 Peace Corp and Teach for America Baltimore Corps Member. During her commitment she worked with a diverse network of leaders to confront educational inequity.
Steph continues her work in education and remains passionate about athletics. She's coached multiple sports and has competed professionally for the Conference Championship Philadelphia Passion LFL Team. Steph credits CU for laying a strong foundation!
Yasheaka Owens, MA 2011 LM

Yasheaka Owens, MA is an established marketing strategist, team leader, and mentor. Building on the success of her award-winning virtual internship program, Owens launched a Career Accelerator in 2023 to help BIPOC job seekers improve on the social and professional skills needed to attain quality, high-paying jobs that meet and advance their long-term career goals.
Owens currently works as a Director of Business Insights for CMI Media Group with strategic oversight of measurement and analysis for $1B+ pharma clients. She recently designed and launched a Mentoring Program for the BRAAVE Employee Resource Group which focuses on improving the employee experience and retention of Black employees by matching them with senior leaders.

Krystal Peters has a distinguished background in hospitality and education. A graduate of the Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management Program (HRTM) and a Keystone Honors Academy scholar, Krystal's career at Cheyney spans over 16 years. She began as an adjunct professor and now serves as the Program Coordinator for the HRTM Program and Director of the Honors Academy.
Her career also includes significant contributions to the Delaware Restaurant Association, where she advanced to a state coordinator for the Delaware ProStart Program, supporting high school culinary and hospitality talent. Additionally, Krystal spent over a decade with the National Restaurant Association, honing her expertise in professional development and further underscoring her significant contributions to professional development in the hospitality industry. Krystal Peters stands out as a luminary in hospitality and education, whose contributions continue to inspire and impact the industry and academic communities.

Dr. Martina Randall is a Philadelphia native who has built a distinguished career as a Foot and Ankle surgeon. During her tenure at Cheyney University, she was a member of the Keystone Academy and Women’s basketball team She attended Temple University on full scholarship, followed by residency in Miami, and a prestigious sports medicine fellowship at Virginia Mason, in Seattle. Dr. Randall owns and operates “The Foot and Ankle Sports Institute” in Los Angeles, a thriving private practice with three locations specializing in trauma, sports, and regenerative medicine
Dr. Randall serves as team physician for Division I programs, high schools, and AAU clubs. Currently, Dr. Randall is pursuing an MBA at USC’s prestigious Marshall School of Business, where she is honing the skills necessary to successfully transition from surgeon to CEO Dr Randall credits her success to the unwavering encouragement and guidance of her mother, Tina, and the strong, supportive community she fostered.

A battle-tested, proven turnaround leader with a track record of success, Yasir Roundtree has served in school-based, central office, and C-Suite roles, including as an Elementary and Secondary Principal, as Assistant Superintendent/Chief of Schools and Academic Programs, and as Acting Superintendent Yasir earned an undergraduate degree in liberal studies with a concentration in elementary education and a minor in English from Cheyney University, as well as graduate degrees in educational leadership from the American College of Education and in the science of reading from Lincoln University.
Yasir maintains state certifications that permit him to serve as a Reading Specialist and to teach all content areas from K-6th grade, as well as English and Social Studies from 7-12th grades. Yasir contributes to the local, state, and regional educational communities as a mentor for aspiring Principals and Superintendents; as an adjunct graduate faculty member at Lincoln University where he teaches courses in special education and educational leadership; as an external program reviewer for the Pennsylvania Department of Education; and, as an accreditation site team visitor for the Middle States Association

Since earning his degree in Psychology in 2013, Jonathon has dedicated himself to building a vision centered around growth, service, and leadership. Transitioning from social work management positions to becoming the owner of a home health care agency, he has created meaningful job opportunities, including aiding jobs for fellow Cheyney graduates. Alongside co-founder Basil Stewart, a fellow 40 Under 40 nominee, Jonathon’s agency now provides over 500 jobs across 16 counties in Pennsylvania, recently expanding their services into Baltimore, Maryland. Jonathon’s leadership style is marked by efficiency and empathy, running a well-organized operation while continuously investing in the growth of his team. He mentors and develops others, empowering them to pursue their own ambitions for success. Jonathon exemplifies the power of leadership that not only builds successful enterprises but also positively impacts the lives of those around him.
The Fall semester of 2010, Basil started at Cheyney University as a Non-Traditional student. He was the Vice President of the Psychology Club, member of Psi Chi Honor Society, 100 Black Men and later initiated in Kappa Alpha Psi Incorporated Gamma Omega Chapter Spring 14.
After, graduation the goal was to gain experience in the home care, behavioral/mental health and Autism/Intellectual disability population. A few years later Basil started graduate school at Thomas Jefferson University for a Master in Community Trauma Counseling. Working and learning so much in the fields that were mentioned he then became Co- Founder of Holland Wheelhouse HomeCare and Health Services LLC. Holland Wheelhouse HomeCare and Health Services LLC, render services in the Philadelphia and surrounding counties to anyone with a physical disability as well as Individuals with Autism /Intellectual Disabilities.

Carlos Thompson, a proud Cheyney University alumni, is the CEO of Kings Staffing LLC, a Philadelphia-based staffing firm specializing in general labor, light industrial, and warehousing services nationwide. Alongside his twin brother and business partner, Cashawn Thompson, Carlos has grown Kings Staffing into a trusted source for connecting companies with quality talent. Before starting his business, Carlos worked in workforce development, where he cultivated a deep understanding of employment solutions and economic empowerment. His leadership has driven the success of Kings Staffing and helped countless individuals secure jobs. Carlos is also committed to community service. He is actively involved with the Beta Gamma Foundation, where he has helped raise funds and provide scholarships for students in need, reinforcing his dedication to supporting future generations.
Cashawn Thompson built his career around education and community service. His early work involved tutoring with City Year Greater Philadelphia, substitute teaching, and providing behavioral therapy in both classrooms and inhome settings. He also contributed to higher education as a student administrator at the Community College of Philadelphia. In 2016, Cashawn and his twin brother Carlos co-founded Kings Staffing Employment Agency. Initially focused on supplying qualified teachers and school personnel, the agency expanded its services to connect residents with home and community-based services in the health industry. Kings Staffing now creates employment opportunities for a wide range of individuals, including teachers, case managers, and customer service representatives, while supporting vulnerable populations. Outside of his professional life, Cashawn is a dedicated martial artist who teaches children, instilling discipline and confidence.

Ronald Bo Thompson Jr. is a former quarterback for Cheyney University's football team, playing from 2006 to 2009.
After leaving school to chase a professional football career, an injury derailed his plans. Determined to move forward, Ronald re-enrolled at Cheyney University, where he earned his degree in 2015. He then pursued a career in law, eventually founding Thompson and Associates, a law firm specializing in personal injury and criminal defense.
William is currently based in Washington, DC, and has spent the last decade in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on rare diseases. As an Area Business Manager at Madrigal Pharmaceuticals, William specializes in liver and gastrointestinal health, covering the DC area.
In addition to a successful career in healthcare, William is the CEO of WNT Properties LLC, a real estate investing and development company, serving the DMV region.
Passionate about giving back, William is dedicated to philanthropy and increasing financial education in underserved communities, striving to create lasting change and opportunities for others.
Nyrie Watson was born in Wilmington, Delaware. Nyrie studied Liberal Arts with a concentration in Education at Cheyney University of PA, graduating magna cum laude in December 2018. During her time at the university, she was involved with the Student Government Association (SGA), Heeding Cheyney's Call, campus resident advisors, and the Delta lota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Immediately after graduation, Nyrie begin her career in the public school system in Delaware. In 2020, she began her journey to pursue her master’s degree in education from Relay Graduate School of Education. In June 2022, she graduated with a Master of Arts in Education with distinction. Currently, Nyrie is serving her community as middle school special education teacher.
Darren Watson is a native of West Philadelphia. Darren began his college career at the Nations 1st Historically Black institution of higher education, where he played football, pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., served on SGCA, and as Head Resident Advisor of Yarnall Hall. In 2010, he began serving multiple leadership roles in the greater Philadelphia and the northeast region mental health network at PA Clinical, Fairmount behavioral health, and many more.
Watson served as a local and International Bodyguard for celebrities. He is also a restaurant owner, coach, and crisis intervention specialist.
He rebuilt and transformed mental health programs in the PA Region by developing, retraining and providing trauma informed training for all mental health employees under his leadership. He owned and operated one of the first black firearm shops in Pennsylvania, trains and provides firearms safety for civilians and professionals.

Rainie Willaims
Rainie Williams, a proud Philadelphia native and 2008 graduate of Cheyney, is a passionate advocate for preserving and celebrating the rich heritage of Cheyney. In 2015, Rainie co-authored the article "Cheyney: The Unsung Hero," featured in US Air Magazine, which highlights the importance of raising awareness of the university's significance. As the creator of Cheyney History Month, now in its fifth successful year, Rainie dedicates February to spotlighting Cheyney's storied past. Additionally, in March, Rainie spearheads Cheyney Women's History Month, amplifying the accomplishments of Cheyney’s women alumni. Rainie is also a published author, having released a second novel, The First HBCU, on February 1, 2024, on the history of Cheyney. Currently he is serving as Project Manager in Cheyney's Institutional Advancement office, Rainie’s contributions extend beyond writing, including the design of logos, flyers, and brochures for various Cheyney alumni chapters. Rainie’s work continues to reflect a deep commitment to promoting and preserving Cheyney's legacy.
Matthew Winter
Matthew Winter is a dedicated husband, father, and member of his community. Matthew quickly contributed to campus culture, with roles including Financial Aid office assistant, Residential Advisor, Student Government Association member, and Vice President of the Gamma Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Matthew graduated in 2009, embarking on his career with thae United States Government.
He’s currently a Business Analyst for the General Services Administration in New York City. In 2020, Matthew created a line of officially licensed Cheyney merchandise. First and Foremost LLC, co-founded with his wife and Cheyney alumna, Shakeemah Winter, tells unsung stories of Cheyney’s rich history through fashion. One of the brand’s most notable moments took place when WNBA legend and Coach, Dawn Staley, wore First and Foremost’s Yolanda Laney jersey on the sidelines of a nationally televised game and praised Laney’s contributions.

Aleisha Ellis, a North Philadelphia native, graduated from Northeast High School before attending Cheyney University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biology as a Board of Governors and PECO scholar.
Currently, Aleisha works in the labor and delivery unit at the Hospital of Pennsylvania and is pursuing a master’s degree in nursing. She is also a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., initiated into the Mighty Delta Tau Chapter in Fall 2020.
SHAQUANDA WASHINGTON '22
Shaquanda Washington is a Documentation and Development Specialist, who currently works in the IBHS (Intensive Behavioral Health Services) department She reviews and edits the progress notes of Behavioral Consultants, Mobile Therapist, and Behavioral Health Technicians. She ensures that each documented note is not only clinically sound, but also adheres to state regulations and policies for annual Audits. In addition, Shaquanda is part of a team of clinicians and HR (Human Resources) associates who assists with the onboard training and orientation of new hired employees.
Shaquanda graduated from the Nation's oldest HBCU, (Historically Black College University) Cheyney University, with Highest Honors (Summa Cum Laude). She has double majored, earning her Dual-Baccalaureate degrees with a B.A. and B.S. in the fields of Psychology and Early Childhood Education. Since graduating, Shaquanda has been studying for the GRE (Graduate Record Examination), and taking courses as she prepares to enroll in graduate school to further her education.

Rukayat A. Sulaiman was admitted to Cheyney University in 2020 as an honors student, pursuing a double major in Social Relations (Political Science concentration) and Liberal Studies (Business concentration). She held the prestigious Keystone Scholarship since 2021 and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
During her time at Cheyney, Rukayat served as a peer tutor, mentor, resident advisor, and a member of the Judicial Conduct Board. She also held leadership positions in organizations such as the National Council of Negro Women and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and cofounded the Pre-Law Society. Rukayat’s dedication and academic excellence were recognized with several awards, including the White House Scholars Program. Rukayat served as co-valedictorian for the Class of 2024 and takes pride in her connection to Cheyney University.
Currently, Rukayat is pursuing her JD at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law on a Bond-Hill Full tuition Scholarship. She remains committed to continuing her journey of academic and professional success, aiming to make meaningful contributions in the legal field.
